My family and I will be eating at the Yak N Yeti for the first time next Monday and I was wondering if anyone who has eaten there would care to share their opinion of it. Was it good?

I didn't like it. I had poor service, a dirty table, and the menu just seemed to be desperatly trying to cover 3 or 4 different themes, and none of them successfully.

The food was passable, if that. Nothing inspired, just typical Landry's (ie Rainforest) formula - either load it with cheese, sugar or deep fry (or any combination of the above) and the people will rave about it.

I may give it a second shot, partly because I was so excited to try it, it may have just fell short of the hype. Of course it could have also been an off night.

My review in short....very overpriced less than average Chinese takeout food. Lunch for a party of 6 adults and 1 child was in the mid $200 range with no alcohol and before tip.

Here is the review I wrote when we came back in September. We ALL loved it and it is now on our must do list every trip (I'll try to put some pictures at the bottom of my review):

Yak & Yeti. I was a little leary of this place because I had read mixed reviews. However, my DH really likes this type of food (I'm not crazy for it), so I said we'd give it a try. I am so glad we did. If it had not been for LeCellier, it could have taken #1 in our favorites. Shelley & Tom had the Shaoxing Steak & Shrimp and gave it two thumbs up (I tried a piece of the steak and it was great). DH had the Duck with Anadapur Glaze with Jasmine Rice and Stir Fried Vegtables and cleaned his plate. I had the Sweet/Sour Pork with White Rice and Stir Fried Vegetables. I wish there had been more Sweet/Sour Pork--it was that good and I finished the entire plate (excpet vegetables--not a big vegetable eater--especially stir fried).
We had the Mango Pie and Chocolate Brownie Sundaes for dessert (we boxed three of them to take back to the CSR because we were stuffed).

I just ate there this week and it was the best meal of our trip!!! It was FANTASTIC! My ribs literally fell of the bones, the wonton dessert was amazing. The mahi mahi was delish as well as the stir fry.

Everyone is still talking about that meal. :slurp:

My group had a pretty good experience there. We made our ADR for 11 when the restaurant opened and it was dead even during free dining. The only drawback is I kinda feel like the prices are a little too high if you're not on the dining plan. If we don't do DDP next trip, I think I might just try the counter service.

I believe lo mein with rice noodles:

We really like it. We've eaten there many times, trying different things and it's always been good. We are heading out Friday for a week long stay and have at least one meal planned there!

We did the counter service in September and it was great, lots of food and great quality so we decided to book the TS this trip since Boma was a let down this time (Don't know what was up but it was not that great) Hope the TS is as good.

I had the ribs and thought they were great. My wife and kids had lo mein and that was good too. Definitely try it. The paper straws were neat too!!

I read somewhere it has lots of MSG in the food. I don't know how true that is. I avoided it because of that as it is a migraine trigger for me. However, our friends ate there and liked it.

I went there this past September with my family and we LOVED it! We went twice during our visit, each time ordering different entrees to try/share amongest the five of us. Everything was excellent and we had great service.
