I know this is not a pretty subject but here it goes.

I live in Atlanta, GA (Hotlanta during these months) and just came inside from doing my honey do list. Got me thinking of my upcoming trip in Sept and dealing with the heat in Orlando. Most of us know to take advantage or the EMH and hit the pool during the hottest part of the day, bring water, ect ect... No matter how much you prepare you will get hot and you will perspire like you never have before.

What do you do to help keep comfortable even though your hot and sweating. What do you do to prevent blisters, chafing and keep from walking funny at the end of a long day?

I know one thing that will be in my bag besides the Gold Bond Powder is this...

http://www.bodyglide.com/

Whats on your list of must haves????

No kidding we have had so much rain here lately we haven't been out in the heat as much as we usually are to be as acclimated to the summer heat and humidity either!

So true! Had relatives across the country calling to find out if we were okay. We just moved into a 2nd story apartment so I let them know that if we flood they will need to bring the Ark. Lol! The lower temps were such a blessing, tho.

Kansas has been over 100 degrees for a month now with no rain, so Orlando sounds like a winter paradise. Our usual WDW trip is the middle of September which is pretty hot. To beat the heat we carry frozen towels in ziplocks in the backpack, some times just a cool wipe down is enough to keep you going. Lots of baby powder for feet and other places:rolleyes: , I'll admit to the wet shirt tactic but it really shows up in the pictures, wear dark shirts. Planning indoor rides like POTC, Hall of Presidents, HM, or Philharmagic for afternoon is a good escape. I carry a clean shirt sprayed with cologne in another ziplock so I can be presentable for dinner or just to feel clean. I always kill off a pair of shoes when we visit so I use the old comfy worn in ones while there and buy new ones when we get home. The thought that it's hotter back home makes me feel better as well, at least untill we land back in KC.

I feel your pain to the OP. I live outside Atlanta in Kennesaw. Hey we had a cold spell today - only 94 LOL

On the serious side....I drink a TON of water and use body powder and such. I usually go in November but last year went in September and the water and powder helped tremendously! I had NO clue it would get that hot in September  I also packed for my feet bandaids and gauze pads. Year before last I was miserable with blisters. This year the preplanning and keeping my feel cool and wrapped helped a bunch! You seem to know the drill so go with it :)

I live outside of Atlanta as well. East of Atlanta in a town called Covington.

Seems I do have it covered. Its important to think about this ahead of time though.

The three H's : hot, humid, hazy describes the Washington DC/Baltimore area! Florida is no exception, but the sun is a different story!:) I use a washcloth around my neck to wipe off the sweat!:)

The summer has been particuarly brutal this year in Florida. Seems like we have a Tropical wave setteling in over us every few days. Humidity is murder and the rtain storms make it unbearable at times.

nngrendel....you mentioned exactly the two things I would have told you that we also use. My husband swears by the Gold Bond Medicated powder and the Bodyglide has saved us many times as well. I have since found a pair of sandals that have been tripsavers....able to walk all day, every day with no discomfort.
Gold Bond also has a body glide now too.

While we're talking about chafing, does anyone else experience what I call chub-rub? (when your thighs rub together while you walk resulting in chafing/horrible pain). This would be my biggest problem in WDW, forcing me to wear capris usually regardless of how hot it is when I would much rather wear shorts or a skirt. I just recently bought a powder gel for anti-chafing, and it seems to work well but I haven't worn it for an amount of walking that is any way comparable to that of WDW, so I'm still a little nervous to not wear capris. D: The one Gold bond makes works good though?

I've heard it talked about on lots of Disney discussion boards. Im not sure if it works for extended amounts of time, but I'd think you could stick it in a baggie (not sure if it's liquid or powder) and maybe reapply during bathroom breaks?

Good luck! <3

Frogg Toggs

I been trying to keep links for everything. There are many weird places that Google can lead you. Search carefully.

Its the same company that does the jackets too.

Okay. I must admit. I am not a fan (no pun intended). The problem I have with these is feeling everyones over spray. The only thing I can think of while the water that they carry in the water bottles is misting me in my face is. Where did they get the water and Have they cleaned the bottle after the kids been putting it all over their mouths?

I know. Silly reason for not liking them. I'm just funny about that.
