They showed large transport jeeps and mentioned there would be a height requirement for the thrilling attraction. The news used footage of the Hollywood version as well as footage of the 70's King Kong which isn't even connected to this version of Kong. Stop trying to show connections and evidence when it doesn't exist. Universal was very quiet about this project as far as disclosing details. We knew it was thrilling, it would have a height requirement, it would feature large trackless jeeps, it would be set on Skull Island, and would be based around Jackson's Kong. That's about all the general public knew.
They were not quiet in the slightest, if you knew where to look (which it took me less than 5 minutes) there was plenty of evidence to suggest exactly what it was going to be. You are upset because it's not what you imagined it to be nothing more. It's a great ride and continues to draw massive lines every day despite your disappointment.

Yeah, Kong saves you in the video. This is not caught by everyone because there is nothing to direct your attention from side to side, so you're never sure where to look.

I would never call Kong a great ride, but it's not bad either, and it's an inspired effort. With F&F you can absolutely tell they were lazy to the point of showing contempt for the customer/guest.

I think there was a very obvious disinterest/distaste in the IP and it shows.

Fallon is the best ride of it's kind in the parks. Are there too many of those? That's another discussion.

Kong is fine as a low intensity ride. I see nothing wrong with it but I don't think it's a great ride at all.

F&F new level of crap.

I like that low-intensity rides like Kong exist, even if they do mostly use screens. Gives us old people something to do. :joyfull:

Fallon is fun, but I don't like how crowded it gets in the waiting area.

My family are big fans of Race Through New York and enjoy the whole experience e.g. pre-show, watching the TV clips and the ride itself.

It's different to anything else I can think of (I know fundamentally it's still a screen simulator) but it's fun and not to be taken too seriously.

Shrek 4D. It's absolutely embarrassing that its still operating and T2-3D definitely should have stayed instead. The only reasons I think it's still around are the high capacity and an additional space for an HHN house.

Shrek long ago fell out of favor in pop culture (except in memes) and the movies have not aged well. At the time their "we're not taking this seriously but actually we kind of are" + tons of "edgy" satire and parodies was fresh in 2001 but every lesser rate animated film since then has copied the formula over and over.
The queue is horrid.
The "lol Disney" jokes are lame and tired.
The pre-show has nothing to do with the main show.
The main show is just an extra from the Shrek 2 DVD.
The visuals and effects in the main show are very lackluster.
The moving seats are loud enough to distract from the show and they don't even make sense - if we aren't part of the action riding along with Shrek then why are we moving?

I think the attraction could be revived with a good upgrade. Overall, it is similar to "Tough to be a Bug" over at Animal Kingdom, which
has been upgraded a number of times. They just need to learn to properly use what they have.

I hope someone over at Universal is reading this thread because the waste of resources for FF is shocking, it's just that bad. Pointless garbage, who thought this was a good idea? You literally could of had a roller coaster going through the parking lot, sewage treatment plant, laundry facilities all would have be true to the movies. The movies are about back street racing so many other things could of been done. In CA why don't people think FF isn't crap? Are people in CA just stupid?

And to think it's footprint is only a bit smaller than Radiator Springs. Imagine what they could have done with a similar design.

I never noticed before, but once this video pointed out that Vin Diesel is bigger than the helicopter he's hanging from, I had to laugh...

We do think FF is crap. A lot of us also think Kong 3D isn't much better. The benefit is that these two mediocre experiences are only parts of a giant attraction. Nobody would queue up for these by themselves like they do in Florida, but because they are included on a massive attraction as only parts of a whole, they aren't as offensive in CA as they are in FL.

Not that I want to defend anything about that ride, but I believe it’s supposed to be a drone not a helicopter.

I like King Kong because the whole experience comes together and elevates it from being just the 360 screen thing. It has a cool line with good music, robots, ridiculous truck driver characters and an awesome intro and outro. The movie part is also 1000% better than F&F.

F&F is bad on both coasts.

They are pretty on par with one another for me. I'm sure some of it is the fact that Jackson's Kong is a huge favourite of mine and to see that potential wasted is like a punch in the gut whereas the F&F movies are popcorn guilty pleasures without much to them, so a cheap lifeless ride isn't as insulting.

I honestly have no desire to ever ride either again. I'd rather sit through Shrek 4D than either one.
