Worst Cast Member Experience

That's really a wonderfyl story to read. It's nice to see that there are people that don't let a person's way of life affect the way they feel about them. :)

Hello
I was once a professional Intern for Disney at WDW. I had a lot of bad experiences. For example I was back stage at Typhoon Lagoon by the salt water filters when a man who worked in the area asked me to do something. When I said no the man took out a knife and told me to do it again. I ran for my life and the man followed me until I got to a area with guest in around. I informed my manager and he said he would look into it. A few days later I asked my manager what he did about the situation and found out that he had found the man but was not willing to do anything about it.

Worst was at Via Napoli. We got a dinner package for the Candlelight Processional. When made the reservation, we verified via phone that there were no restrictions on what we ordered from the menu. They told us yes. Before sitting, we asked the same question. Then, we were told the CP required to order from the "special" menu. We called the manager over who had just told us it was not required. He said he miss spoke. We told him we were not paying 2-3x for the same food. It went downhill from there. It took the waiter 15 minutes to take our drink order, another 15 minutes to get our drinks. We were told he would put our food orders in so they came out at the same time. An hour in we were about 30 minutes from our CP time. We call the manager over to ask what is going on and why it is taking forever to get our drinks and food. His explanation was that it was a mistake and he would get on it. Turns out the waiter never put our orders in. The manager comes back to tell us we won't be able to make our CP time and he would give us the later one. We told him it was unacceptable because it ruins all of the plans we have. He explains he has no control over it. I told him he did and we wanted the Supervisor. Then, he went into high gear. He had people rushing to get our food and rushing it was. A pizza came out burnt, I mean black as a charcoal. The pasta my daughter got was hard like they just dipped it in water to get it wet. They were sticking out straight as a pencil. He had the gall to tell us he got the food to us as fast as they could. I told my mom and daughter to leave the restaurant so when I explode they are not there. The manager is arguing with me. I told him to shut up and get the supervisor immediately. The manager tried to have the table cleared and I grabbed the persons hand explaining that I am not done with the "meal" until the Supervisor is there. The manager says he needs the table because people are waiting. I told him I am THE CUSTOMER, IT IS MY TABLE. I informed him he needed to get security there to remove me. Well, Security showed up quickly. They were very cordial after looking and seeing what I was complaining about. They called in a Supervisor from elsewhere. Supervisor got there within 3 minutes. I asked the Supervisor to eat a bit of each of our meals that were sitting at the table. He looked at the food and said he wouldn't feed it to his dog. The manager was nowhere to be found. Security was sent to bring him back. The look on the manager's face while being escorted by security to what I thought was a Supervisor. It turns out the man was actually a pretty high executive in charge of theme parks.

In the end, we didn't pay for "the meal". At least we had free drinks. My mom and daughter were able to watch the CP at our original time. I didn't get to see it. We were given free TS meal at any restaurant we wanted that trip and they would get us in at any time we chose. I am sure the manager and waiter were fired.

I wouldn't say this experience was absolutely the worst, but the only time I encountered an "off" moment with a CM was when my husband and I had reservations at CRT. We walked up both excited to actually get the chance to eat there, and the elderly hostess lady working there said the following, "Oh look, an adult couple. Big surprise there." which was followed by an eye roll...

My worst CM experience was in line at Splash Mountain. I told the CM I was Bob Iger's son and I needed to go to the front of the line. She said who is that?

Its funny that 99% of the time we encounter excellent customer service, but it only takes that 1%. Before magic bands, we had the paper fast passes at Animal Kingdom for Everest. We were trying to return back to the ride during our time window during a parade. The parade backed up every route to the ride and we were a few minutes late. The ride supervisor refused to let us use our fast passes! We then had to trek back to the entrance to speak to the customer service rep. They took care of us, but it should never have had to come to that point.

In another post, I told of my worst CM experience. My mother was recuperating from an MI, we had planned the trip for months, so decided to go anyway but use a wheelchair so she wouldn't have to walk too much. A cast member implied that she was "faking " her disability. It upset everyone in the party, I told the cast member that not all disabilities are obvious, and reported the incident to guest services on the way out. I never heard anything else, and have never encountered that type of behavior again.
/ Mom, that's horrible. I hope that CM got disciplined. I had to use a wheelchair while at WDW last year, and boy did I get my eyes opened! I noticed that people don't see you, don't acknowledge you, and even had an incident where someone ran over my w/c with adouble wide stroller breaking the footrest and front wheel. Luckily I had my only good foot lifted up at the time, or it would have been broken too. When we told the CM at guest services, while getting another w/c, she said it was not uncommon for this to happen.
I also have an "invisible disease" and look healthy. You should see the looks I get when I use the handicapped sticker on my car!
I hope your family had a good time despite this terrible treatment, and I hope that CM never has to use a w/c.

Never had a real bad experience with a direct Disney CM. Worst was probably from the waitress we had a Akersush (spelling) in Norway, just had a kind of passive aggressive attitude, but nothing to bad.

I have had terrible experiences with employees of companies who operate on WDW, namely Rainforest Cafe at AK. Mostly just rudeness and attitude for expecting them to do their job.

Says a lot about you as a person if you had to get security involved over an issue at the dinner table. Good grief
No, The manager did. Would you pay $150 for a tiny pizza that was as hard as a brick, noodles that weren't cooked, drinks that took 30 minutes to get to a table?!?!?

I definitely was not until I spoke to someone that knew anything about service. When Disney Security got there and saw what I was asking to see a Supervisor for, they were on my side. The Superviser was on my side. If a manager cannot tell the difference between edible food and fesces, then they don't deserve to be there.

But hey, you are welcome to my house, I will have your family over for dinner, take a dump on a plate, and charge you $150 for it. You can eat the poo with a smile while handing me $150.

Can I just point out that the majority of this post from 15 years ago would probably have gotten this thread locked if it were created in 2016? Apparently, this board was like the Wild West waaaaay back in '01. :D

Glad someone else said it too...my jaw dropped reading some of it. Not because it was offensive...in fact some of it was pretty entertaining but because a lot of that stuff would have gotten members banned and the thread locked by today's standards. I do wish at some level there was a happy medium between today and yesteryear.

That guy is the type of entitled, "it's all about me!" customer that makes many food service and retail employees hate their jobs. I had a similar situation at DHS recently-waiting for a table at 50s Prime Time, 20 minutes past our reservation, daughter had Jedi Academy in half an hour, we asked hostess nicely, they got us in, got our food quickly, and my daughter made it to Jedi Academy check in on time, instead of getting angry and embrassing ourselves.

I don't think @BigRedDad was acting entitled at all. He asked relevant questions when he booked the package. The answers he was given was not honored. Paying upwards of 50$ a person for food entitles one to expect professional service, and a properly prepared meal.

While the waiter may have had no control over the kitchen cooking he could have saw the food was not adequately prepared and had this corrected before it was brought out to the customer. He also has 100% control of the drink order and timely arrival of beverages.

Also if concerns were noted at check-in and reiterated to the waiter he should have escalated the issue to the manager/supervisor on duty to ensire the kitchen placed that order as a priority.
