Haha had to look that up. Let me rephrase, would any Marvel IP (that people care about) make sense for a boat ride? Aqua-Man?

EDIT: he’s DC isn’t he?
Namor is Marvel. Aquaman is DC.

Honestly, though, just stick any IP in there. It doesn't matter. Guardians of the Galaxy makes NO SENSE as a drop tower ride but look at where we are.

Hahah. Well I guess now we know why the last blog post on Marvel Land has no mention of other attractions. What’s interesting is that TP said the land is on hold but I think it’s the final plans that are really on hold and the land will still open in 2020 as planned (with no new attractions as planned).

What this also means is that we could see some sort of attraction that can be built quickly like the 4D show we discussed or something like an Ant-man shooter attraction (high capacity) that can open with the land or shortly after. Otherwise how many years can the land sit around with just GOTG:MB? That’s not good for capacity when you consider the 4 attractions being lost with Bugs Land (unless the meet and greets are super elaborate). So who knows, maybe the land is on hold and it won’t open in 2020 and Bugs Land sticks around for another year. I just don’t see them backing out. Not just because of the announcements (I know it’s been done before) but because of how motivated they are to get Marvel in the parks as witnessed with the GOTG overlay.

And if they can’t get their $hit together, can they just give us TOT back?
If they give us Tower of Terror back then all the Disney forum sites will mourn the loss of Mission Breakout until Tower of Terror opens and then those who shilled for Mission Breakout will finally admit how much it sucks.
I’m totally cool with the half @$$ coaster being shelved. That’s my issue with some of these next gen rides. They don’t know what they want to be. The imagineers try to throw so much at them to keep up with the Jones’ but at the end you get an underwhelming experience. Give me an old school coaster any day. Put a show scene in the beginning, middle and end with advanced AAs and immersive sets with adequate/ appropriate theming for the portions where you re zooming by to the next show scene.
Would a good old fashioned boat ride (with Shanghai’s ride system) make sense for any Marvel IP?

Boat ride for (insert IP), Antman omnimover and “old school” coaster. Capacity problems solved. Between the three that would be like 8- 9000 riders per hour.

Let me get this out of the way first, I don't think they'd ever bring back ToT even if Marvel Land never happens. Sorry... They'd probably just tear it down and start over given the towers weird location in middle of an expansion pad.

As for Marvel Land, I still think it happens, even if delayed a couple years. Marvel is too important for them not to put it into DCA. So they'll find a way to get something in there. Even if its a small attraction like the 4D one we talked about previously.

I rather them delay the project and get a large scale high capacity set of attractions. This is why I'm feeling more positive about this projects.

Yea, sadly I know we’ll never get TOT back.

Marvel land is definitely happening and I’m also cool with the delay for higher capacity attractions.

The point of my post was that I think there is a good chance the land still opens in 2020 but the major attractions are delayed...even more.

That I agree with. I think they throw something together besides the M&G and shops. Its not hard to get a 4D or shooter type attraction up and running with some light theming. I mean how basic is Buzz or TSMM, that could be thrown together pretty quick.

Right. The question is do we still get Spider-Man and a coaster if they do a 4D show and/or a shooter ride? I’d rather they delay the whole land than one of the two E tickets get shelved for a shooter or show

I hope they tear it down tbh. Anyways, if they build Marvel land it won't be until the 2020's when Marvel's popularity is on the decline. Yes, Irisish Bruh, Marvel's popularity will not sustain as it is for the next ten years. Don't argue on it because I know you will.

Or does it expand like the original plan and go into HwL? Who knows, we'll just have to wait and see. But I think it'll be more than less.

Sure I'll agree the popularity of MCU will decrease. But that doesn't mean the popularity of Marvel based attractions will decrease. As you like to point out a good attraction will always be popular.

Hmmm I don’t know. Things always seem to go less and not more. I also would like to see some room left at DCA for a brand new land.

That wasn't the case with SW:GE, the rumors were that WDI was sent back to the drawing board because it wasn't grand enough. Now yes they cut the rumored 3rd peoplemover type attraction. But they increased the overall land size from the TT footprint into what it is now.

So things can always grow....

True they can always grow but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Star Wars land grew because I think the plans started off massively small for the IP. A half baked SWL in TL? Or SWL in Toontown? What could they fit in Toontown?

That's the point though. That was the original rumor of where it was gonna go. So it morphed from that into what it is now.

Even now with Marvel its hard to see how they're going to fit a large scale coaster and a large scale dark ride into the current Bugs Land and expansion pad behind GotG. So when I hear TPs neighbor talk about WDI being sent to make them higher capacity, I just don't see the room. So expanding back into HwL just makes sense to me.

It does seem small for both attractions and everything else unless they use the animation building?

I see what you re saying. I just think Bugs Land including ITTBAB, GOTG and the expansion pad behind GOTG is a way more realistic starting point for Marvel than Toontown was for SWL.

My wish would be for them to keep the backlot and bus transportation area for a new land.

Well TT for SWL was a rumor that MC reported. So I don't know how realistic it really was, but it does seem like it was at least discussed.

I can understand why you'd want to keep HwL and bus area. But what else would they put there? More Pixar? With Mickey going into TT I don't see what else could go there. And remember you still have Goofy and that side of the pier they can use for other new things.

Also if Marvel doesn't go into HwL then that means you have at least another 5 years or more while it sits in its current condition. That is a lot of wasted space to sit there doing nothing. I know we can say the same thing about some areas in DL, but it looks like that will hopefully be addressed in the next couple projects.

Rumor now is that WOC won't return until "late 2018". Our honeymoon is end of September and WOC is the number one thing I wanted to do, so I am significantly bummed. Any better ideas on this?

The Bugs land and Timon lot space are equivalent if not a bit bigger than New Orleans with Pirates and Haunted Mansion. It is certainly enough room if they knew how to utilize it correctly.

If they're looking for a way to do Marvel with good capacity, this is what I would build:

- Family suspended coaster set up like BTMRR. 1 track, 2 load platforms and 3 lifts (each with a show scene). You "fly" with Iron Man
- Avengers "tower" with two floors for guests and a third for cast use and meeting space. Level 1 is a copy of HKDL's Ant Man ride, Level 2 is a buffet restaurant and meet and greet hall (with multiple rooms)
- A side street themed to 1940s NYC. There's shops and some other dining options.
- Street ends with theatre showing Captain America show (3D/practical like T2 at Universal)
- Street also has Doctor Strange house with interactive exhibits

It may not be the most ambitious option, but it showcases several characters and would handle crowds at least somewhat effectively.

If it's your honeymoon - Treat yourself to one of the dinner packages for Fantasmic instead!
We looked at the packages for World of Color, but decided to just eat dinner wherever we felt like, then go see it. We have seen Fantasmic lots of times in Florida, so we wanted to try something new. I know it's a little different, but I am guessing it is pretty darn close to the Florida Fantasmic.
