Hello-

I decided to switch gears this AM and do yoga. The theme was detox. I needed get rid of this tension/anger/anxiety I am feeling over global events. I haven't done yoga regularly in a while and it showed today. :hilarious: I had to keep backing out poses because my muscles were on fire and my leg muscles have gotten tight from all of the weight lifting I've been doing. I'm going to get out for a walk in some sun, too.

I am making Japanese curry + rice tonight. (I think.)

So, I tried some of the Moving Mango videos over the weekend. I can do some of the moves in the two I tried, but have to water down or cut other things out. It's tough, because I never really know what's going to irritate things. Sometimes it's just from the wound on my leg (especially with this new collagen dressing I'm doing) and sometimes it's tied to some issues from the lymph node removal, since I have some residual swelling that comes and goes. Either way, it got me moving for about 30 minutes on Saturday.

On Sunday, I walked...nothing major...but 30 minutes of walking. I called it quits once irritation started to set in.

So far today, I've done several rounds with the 8lb dumbbells. I also brought out my step bench. I've only done about 10 minutes so far, but I plan to get on for about 30 minutes tonight...nothing major, but the most basic up and down movements. I think I like more mindless movement where I can lose myself in music or videos, so it seems like a good fit right now.

I also thought I'd share something a little funny. Hopefully, nobody finds the basic visual too graphic. So, I take wound pictures - 1. to show progress to the dr 2. to catalogue my progress for my own mental health and wellbeing. All of my pictures back up to Flickr, and I keep these wound pictures in a private status, because nobody needs to be looking at these unless they ask. Apparently, Flickr's content bot isn't limited to public pictures. It flagged five of my private wound pictures as explicit and shifted them to a restricted status. I thought it was because they were gross gory pictures, but it turns out...they were identified as sexually explicit. Apparently, my leg wound bears a striking resemblance to certain female body parts. 😂

I had to look her up because her name doesn't ring a bell to me. But I agree that there is probably a lot of linger mental health issues. Girls shouldn't have to keep their families from being homeless. That's waaaayyy too much pressure to place onto a child's shoulders. I read that Gutsu had to share her winnings with the girl she replaced. I saw that this current Russian figure skating coach was making a big deal out of one of her skaters couldn't stop eating and she was getting fat. She was saying this to the Russian press. This girl ended up in an eating disorder clinic. Why is someone's weight the public's business? She also makes these girls weigh in--surprise weigh ins. Your weight fluctuates daily and through out the day. She claims that a gain of 200 grams makes them unable to do these quad jumps. That's not even half a pound, spare me. Even *if* a coach was concerned about someone's weight, take care of it in private. I mean, just the coach and the skater. This coach tries to delay the onset of puberty through caloric restriction and rigorous training.
It really is sad, and I think it's mostly geared toward female athletes. Most men don't have to weigh in, unless they are like wrestlers where they have a weight class, etc. But it's such an unhealthy environment. You're over the hill at 25, you're overweight if we can't see your ribs, you're not allowed to eat because you'll gain weight, but need the food for energy because of the demands on your body. And then all these predatory trainers and such...it's amazing that anyone still lets their kids participate in these programs!

That's actually really funny. I think it's a good idea to keep track of it anyway, and I'm so glad you are able to get a bit of exercise. Good luck!!!

I haven't gotten much exercise in in the last few days. It was SOOOOOO dead at work. They have decided to only introduce new people on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so those are training days. I was training a new guy on Thursday, but it was so dead, they only had us doing inventory, which doesn't involve much movement. So on Friday, they had me train him on orders, only it was even MORE dead, because the government lifted all the restrictions starting on Friday. So there are no more mask mandates, no more QR codes to prove vaccination or recovery status, no more testing needed to get in unless it's an indoor event with more than 500 people, restaurants, clubs, and bars are all allowed to be open with no more time restrictions...everything's just open again and it's a free-for-all. And since Friday night was the beginning of Carnaval weekend, everyone and their dog went out to party. And since everyone was out partying, no one was at home ordering clothes for their kids. We were only getting about 60 orders per hour. It hasn't been that dead in like a decade. So I trained this guy to do orders, but there weren't enough orders to keep us busy. We had to stand there waiting for a couple of minutes before a box would come to our "island". So we ended up back on inventory. They completely canceled the Saturday at work because they didn't have work to do. I did go by bike on Sunday to the centrum to get a few things I needed, but that is all the exercise I've really gotten. And the weather is supposed to turn rainy again today. I hope there's enough work tonight that I don't get stuck doing something that doesn't involve movement again.

Good morning-

I signed up for a 7 day trial of a "dance sculpt" app. I did my first w/o this AM. I am not sure how I feel about it, which means I'll likely cancel before my 7 days are up. I'll give it a few more workouts before I decide. It's also kind of pricey for what it is. If you're charging $20/month, you need to be mic'd up and not film from your iPhone. I can get the same or better production values on YouTube.

It's supposed to be sunny and mild today, so I am getting out for a walk. I'm so glad it's March. I'm so glad there is more sunlight in a day now. I love that it is not pitch black when I am cooking dinner. After we change clocks in the Fall, it's such a struggle for me. I feel like I am under a thick, suffocating blanket for a couple of months. And while am not fond of colder weather, I think I'd feel better throughout those months if had a decent amount of sunlight. ☀️

This channel might have something for you--she has loads of workouts.

Here is a workout that might be of interest to you. I know she uses a resistance loop, but you could do this without one. If you wanted to do it with one, Amazon sells cheap sets with 3-4 loops of different resistances.

I don't understand why we still change the clocks in this day and age. Wasn't it originally for the farmers so they could make the most of the daylight hours? That doesn't seem to apply anymore...the number of hours of daylight are the same, no matter at which hour of the day you start them. And the majority of the world are not farmers, so there's no need to change the time to accommodate so few. It just doesn't make any sense, and the switching back and forth takes such a toll on the sleep patterns. It would be better to just keep it the same year round and anyone who needs more daylight can adjust the time they get up in the morning accordingly. Just like if you have an early meeting, or a flight to catch, you go to bed early and wake up early....you adjust your schedule to meet your need. We don't change the clocks to allow a family to make their flight on vacation. Let people make their own modifications!

Thanks, I will give it a look. I have a pack of resistance bands around here somewhere. I bought them a while back for some home therapy when I had running related pain. I just have to find them, since the kids seem to "borrow" a lot of my stuff for their athletic needs.

I am all for ending Daylight Savings Time and this whole madness of changing the clocks. It's funny, my parents will be visiting from FL when we spring forward next weekend. They're on eastern and we're on central, so they will have a handful of days where it feels like nothing has changed. They time our kids' spring break with it so they can also ease in. I'm just over it.

I think here we should just remain on DST permanently. That may be because I'm a night owl and prefer it to stay lighter late in the day, but we're on it more than we're off. If we're on it most of the time, make that the time.

^^^^THIS and I'm a morning person. I get up when it's dark no matter what time of year or if it is standard or DST. That being said sometimes it is nice to be out later when the weather is nice

Well, 2 nights in a row, I've made good on workouts. Last night, it was just finishing up what I started during the day. Today, it was all evening work...30 minutes step bench and three rounds of arm work with the dumbbells. Part of me wants to try more, but I'm having some discomfort. I was hoping the bike might be a go, even though they said no, but all I had to do was pedal for about 5-10 seconds and it was a big-fat-NO. The overall discomfort is likely part of the healing process, but I think it was exacerbated by the collagen treatment I started last Friday. It definitely helped close things up a lot, but it was like glue and started to irritate my skin...both from removal, pulling at the skin while in place, and eventually some kind of allergic reaction. I'm already dealing with dermatitis and alternate bandaging methods from weeks and weeks of medical tape. In any event, they said I've healed enough that no more collagen, no more packing, no more taping...just a bandage with some Aquaphor or Vaseline. So, just going to keep taking it slow.

You're doing well with everything. Frustrating for you to not see bigger improvements quicker, but that's just the way it goes -- your body will heal completely when it's ready. So, just hang in there, and continue to take it slowly. (What you don't want is to take two steps forward, only to take 3 steps backward, in your home care program.) Easy for me to say, of course, but just wanted to give you some encouragement.

We started doing it to save fuel during WW1 and then again in WW2 for the same reason. I guess we never went back. There is a push in congress for a bill to allow states to decide if they want to participate in DST. I hate it. I dread the clock change in the fall. I'd be happy if we got rid of it. The change to DST is linked with an increase in heart attacks, car accidents and miscarriages.

The only thing that gives me pause about getting rid of DST is the kids who walk to school would have to walk in the dark. I know school districts could change starting times, but I think that could get a lot of push back from many quarters.

I know you said you had to order a new product for the next stage of your healing. Did that ever arrive? Is that what is causing you additional irritation?

Good morning 🌞

I did another workout from the app I am trying out. I liked this workout a lot better. It was definitely challenging for me in some parts. 😰There is a learning curve (for me) with these types of workouts, so I think one workout is meant to be repeated for a bit before moving on to something new. I'll see how I feel about this app on Sunday and decide whether to subscribe for 1 month.

My husband's birthday is next week and I am already stressing about the frosting on his cake. I prefer Swiss meringue buttercream, but I can't whip the egg whites and sugar into stiff peaks. I can get it to look and behave like Marshmallow Fluff, but I can't go beyond that. I don't know why. When I make macarons, I have no problem getting raw egg whites and sugar to stiff peaks. Something happens when I heat them over simmering water that makes it difficult to whip them up. I have no idea what it is. I clean everything that will have contact with egg whites with white vinegar to get rid of any traces of fat that could prevent the egg whites from whipping up. When I ask this question online people tell me it's a fat issue. But I fill up the stainless steel bowl I use with white vinegar and I put all the beater and utensils in it and soak them for a minute or two. I wipe them down with a clean towel. I don't know what more I can do. But I want to master it. LOL. I have been using ermine frosting but that gets really soft, really fast and requires lots of breaks to chill it down to use again.

Sorry about my frosting saga. It's been a puzzle for years. 🥴
