Hello-

Today, I felt like something a bit low key and I found a low impact, 30 min, no equipment workout. It was fine. It's going to be a bit warmer today, so I am going for a walk later on.

I am getting my third dishwasher since I moved into this house installed today. It's ridiculous. When we bought the house, the previous owners just installed a new one, then it broke in 2019, now the "new" dishwasher has broken. I am convinced there is sketchy, not up to code wiring in this house and that is what is causing these dishwashers to bite the dust.

So, I heard back from the doctor today. I am cleared for SOME exercise. I'll take it! No machines, biking, squatting, etc., but I can walk (I asked about 3-5 mile range) and I can use dumbbells and kettlebells, as long as I don't incorporate any squatting in my mechanics. I have to do grocery pickup during lunch, but I'm thinking of going for a walk after work and doing some weights to try and get back into things.
Woohoo! Progress! How did it feel?

Have you considered maybe hiring an electrician to perhaps check to see if the wiring appears to be up to code? (I know nothing about wiring, but maybe your hunch might be correct.) That aside, appliances aren't what they used to be in quality. Not saying that's what happened here, but just an observation of what I've read from different people, regarding some new appliances.

It's really good. This is the recipe I use. https://futuredish.com/rose-tteokbokki-extra-creamy-with-gochujang-milk/

It's super simple. You can buy the rice cakes and the gochugaru from Amazon. Your supermarket might carry gochujang in the Asian section. It comes in a red plastic tub, otherwise I have seen it on Amazon. I added a lot more broccoli than it called for, too. I was trying to make it a complete meal. Also, have used gnocchi when my store is out of the rice cakes. It's not quite the same texture, but it is still delicious.

Edit to add, I don't use the Vienna sausages, I use bacon. I also skip the fish cake sheets.

Funny thing when I looked it up when you first mentioned it, this is the recipe I found first! Nice to know it is a good one to use. :) I don't think I would use the fish cake sheets, that doesn't sound great and bacon instead of Vienna sausages sounds like a nice substitute.

Do you know what the code was when they met their demise? That may help determine if house wiring was at fault.

I know when we had our last dishwasher installed, the installer wouldn't do it because of some sort of electrical thing. So, we had an electrician come in to sort it out and he came back to put it in. I have found it difficult to get any tradesmen to do small jobs here, they only want large ones. When I call them and explain what the issue is, they say they are too busy. This has happened for so many things. We had to buy a new fridge last summer and when they installed it, it didn't fit. The installer even measured across before bringing the fridge off of the truck. The side of the cabinet was slightly buckled or warped at the top, so the fridge wound't go in. My fridge has been sticking out of its enclosure since the summer. I can't get anyone to fix the cabinet. I had someone return a call. He had me confused for someone who called about a deck installation and when he found out what I wanted, he cut the call short. It must be nice to be able to turn away business. I know my husband is going to end up doing it, but he has a lot of stuff on his plate rt now.

Hello

I did an upper body strength training video I found on YouTube. I found this channel just before I went to WDW and I forgot about it. It was a decent workout that was 45 min, but felt like it went by much more quickly than that. The only thing I didn't like (and it's not a deal breaker for me right now) is she doesn't do anything on the ground--no chest presses, skull crushers, push ups, etc. It's all standing work. But I felt great when I was done. I felt like I'd gotten a worthwhile workout in without feeling exhausted.

My dishwasher arrived yesterday, broken. The installer took it out of the box and it was broken. He said it was the second one of the same model he tried to deliver yesterday that was broken. I didn't know it when I bought it, but I found out when I called Home Depot for help, it had been discontinued. So, maybe that was a blessing in disguise. Anyway, if I wanted a dishwasher before Easter and matched the other appliances, I had to get one that was cheaper. I think the only difference is the tub is plastic, so it's little louder than a stainless steel tub. It's not a big deal. It's coming next week. We have black mold in the current one, so I have been washing dishes by hand. My husband took all the racks out last night, cleaned and bleached them and the tub, ran the dishwasher with vinegar and baking soda, so I could use it. I still won't. The drying element doesn't work, so the mold will return. I don't even want to open it with the mold inside. :depressed:

I'm pretty sure it's not that as mine can run anywhere from 1 to 4 times a day with the average being closer to 2. That being said I have a Bosch and they tend to last forever. Good luck with your next one!

I looked at them and I couldn't find the finish I wanted that was in stock. It's slim pickings for appliances right now. We had the same issue when our fridge died this summer. We had to settle on something that wasn't exactly what we wanted, but still fit the bill.

Happy Friday! 🎉

I did a 40 minute, lower body strength training from Youtube this AM. I think I will stick with this type of workout for now. It feels right for my body right now. I really like this channel. She's not too obnoxious with the ads and she plays them during rests, which is fine. I hate when they randomly come on during timed activity--it's distracting. My power kept cutting in and out (and I had to keep ff the video where I'd left off) and then my Fitbit decided to install firmware during my workout (deleting my workout progress), but I persevered in the face of adversity. 💪😂

I got out for a walk yesterday, it was 67. Alas, I think we have hit our high of 60 a few hours ago and it's downhill to normal Feb temps from there. Boo. It felt great not to walk around with 150 layers of clothes on and still feel cold. I'll try to get out later. It looks raw and windy--so maybe not!

I haven't gotten to walk yet. Between a hectic schedule and bad weather, there hasn't been time. The younger one is playing at a sports complex this weekend that has walking trails, so I'm hoping to walk some between games. I have been doing arms with my 8lb weights. I have to be really careful because it's tempting to go into a squat with some movements. I also don't think my forearms were ready to wake up just yet. Not an area we normally think about straining, but I'm finding it very challenging to use the spray button on my saline wound wash. 😂 I did try to use my twist plate for my core, since it isn't really a machine and there's very little use of the legs. Unfortunately, the slight twisting movement that trickles down into the legs was pretty uncomfortable. So, shelving that for a while.

Good luck with your dishwasher. We had a repair guy out last week for ours. We are more of a 'run it every other day' family unless the kids are home all day. Thankfully all was OK, but it prompted this whole discussion on the durability of appliances vs. how often it's run. His feelings were that it was more a matter of newer appliances being less durable and more issue prone. Ours is a Maytag, which seems to be middle of the road in terms of reliability, but apparently it's also about 20 years old. So, the trade off...when something really does go wrong, the cost of those parts may be the price of a brand new dishwasher. Hopefully, all of the supply chain issues won't make this too difficult for you.

Well, today will be day 4 of doing arm work. I still can't believe my forearms are what's feeling the biggest impact. It's going to be in the upper 40s when I'll be able to walk tomorrow, but it sounds like a nice way to move around before sitting around for several softball games.

On a different, but sort of health related note, my husband got me one of those AeroGardens for Christmas. I don't have much of a green thumb, but these things don't require much effort. I set it up 3 weeks ago and already have a pretty nice crop of herbs. I figure it can't hurt adding some healthy flavor to our food with fresh herbs growing in the kitchen. I'm currently growing Genovese basil, Thai basic, curly parsley, mint, dill, and thyme. I'm not sure we need two kinds of basil and I don't see us using mint, so I can see some changes for those in the future. They sell empty pods where you can add your own seeds...so maybe tomatoes and cilantro. But for now, we'll stick with what was included.
