Well, over here, they are the main transportation, especially for minors, since you can't drive here until you are 18, and gas prices are usually around $8-9 per gallon. You only drive if it's too far to walk. Some of E's classmates bike over an hour just to get to school. A lot of A's classmates are brought by taxi because it's too far to bike, or they can't ride a bike. We live less than a 10 minute bike ride from his school and I still worry about him because he doesn't have the best insight in traffic situations, but it's a straight shot and only one street to cross and that has a stoplight just for bikes. Otherwise I'd go with him every day. But it's kind of a necessity here.
I hope she's a better rider than I am. 😳😂

Kids generally learn to ride their bikes here at a VERY young age, like 2 or 3. When they start to walk, they are usually plopped onto a walking bike that has no pedals and they push with their feet to get used to balancing, etc. My kids are exceptions because most of the little ones I see are zooming around and the parent is casually walking a quarter of a mile behind because they can't keep up and that just seems really unsafe to me and I wasn't going to let my kids get so far ahead that I couldn't call out to them to stop before they rode into the street or something. Call me over-pretective, but I'd rather they be safe than learn to ride a bike at 3. Opa tried really hard to teach them to ride when we visited, and I think E was around 6 when she learned...she was teased a lot because she was the last one to learn. A took a lot longer and his Physical Therapist actually taught him. Opa tried really hard, but A just didn't pick it up. He couldn't get started, and if he did, he couldn't stop. Instead of braking, he'd just stick his legs out to the side and couldn't figure out why it wasn't stopping. His motor skills just weren't good, so we talked to the PT about it and he had us bring the bike and they did a few minutes of practice every session. He wasn't allowed to ride in traffic for a couple of years because the PT said he just didn't have the skills down, but he got better and now he bikes to school, to tennis lessons, etc. They ride their bikes every day. E fell once a few years ago after it snowed. The street was packed with hardened snow/ice and she didn't even get out of the street before she fell. She ended up walking to school instead. But I think that's the only time she's fallen since she was first learning.

@HouCuseChickie , how is your post-surgery recovery coming along? (Hoping for success in healing the subsequent infection, that you were dealing with.)

HI! Thanks for checking in. It's definitely improving, but there are good days/hours and bad ones. I feel like I'm becoming quite a medical pro with this process and feel like I should be qualified for some kind of certification with this when I'm done 😂

Hang in there, and as long as there are more better days than not, that is a major step in the right direction for your health. You're doing a good job with all this.

Holy cow. I went back to see what was happening. I am sorry this is happening to you. What a rough year you have had. I am hoping everything improves for you.

Hello-

I've been keeping to myself. I've still been doing my workouts, though. I've been mixing it up. I started a 12 week kettle bell program today. I'll see how long I keep up. I get bored very easily and I need to do different things.

My husband and I went to WDW last weekend for a chilly, no Genie+, 4-day weekend. We tried the Swan Reserve and it was awesome. My husband, especially, enjoyed it. He booked a week there for later in the year. :p Even though it was very cold, we still had fun. We were going to cancel, but we decided to just go and make the best of it. The first and last days were decent, so it wasn't a total write-off.

I have some room photos that I can attach if anyone wants to see them. I took lots of photos of the gym, too. I used the gym there, too. I had it to myself most of the time. :D

We seem to be on similar schedules because I at WDW. I got here Friday night. Glad you had fun. We noticed Swan reserve was open; it looked nice.

It's very nice. We had a reservation at the JW Marriott Bonnet Creek and we decided for a 4 day weekend to stay somewhere where we wouldn't have to drive around to get everywhere. So we tried the Swan Reserve.

We were there the last weekend of January, the weekend where the highs were in the 40s and low was below freezing one night. I hope the weather has been better for you!

Good morning ☀️

Checking in with a bodyweight hiit workout. It was only 15 minutes, but it was intense. I'll probably get out for a walk later. At least today seems sunny, yesterday was very gloomy.
What I wouldn't give to be able to get outside to walk. We got slammed Friday with ice and it really hasn't melted yet and last night we got freezing drizzle. The pot roast tonight may be groundhog:angelic:

Luckily, ours was rain only, and the temps were above freezing. So it's a watery mess outside, but it didn't freeze. It's safe to walk and drive out there today. :) (I'm still avoiding sidewalks on side streets, as there is more of the snow/ice that didn't quite melt on some of those. Main downtown area walkways are clear now.)

It was really gross out today. Raining the entire day. Supposed to be sunny and in the 60s tomorrow

So good to see you!! Thanks for checking in! I'm always up for some photos, and I'm curious about the reserve.

It looked like it might have been slick Monday night, but I think it was just rain. I am eagerly awaiting summer, too. I saw an Accuweather prediction that said winter was going linger in the Northeast this spring. Fantastic. 😒
