I wonder if you were dehydrated? It was really hot here last week with heat advisories and I was doing yard walk and walking. I thought I was drinking loads of water, but I guess it wasn't enough. I woke up one morning with banging headache and feeling run down. I started to feel better once I had a liter of water in me. It is so easy to become dehydrated.
I drink several liters of water per day, though. I always carry a water bottle with me and drink a few swallows every few minutes.

Hello-

I did an hour of yoga this morning. Knock on wood, my left leg has been feeling better since I have started doing yoga again. It's not 100% better, but I'd say it was 95%. I am going for a walk later.

I finally got my claws and talons done today. I even talked my husband into getting a pedicure with me! Whoa. By the time the poor nail tech was done with his feet, I had a pedicure, gel manicure and my brows waxed. :hilarious:

I am worried about my son traveling next week, he won't get vaccinated. Currently, I am not *too* worried, because he rarely goes anywhere and when he does, he wears a mask, uses hand gel, washes hands once he gets home. Plus, we live in a state with a high vaccination rate. However, we are traveling to Chicago on Thursday and I am concerned about him picking up while traveling. I'm worried about this Delta variant and we're going to be at O'Hare where a lot of people from different places transit through. He is one of these people who needs to eat something as soon as he gets past security, so he is going to have pull his mask down. He is 19, I can't forbid him from eating, you know?
Is is affecting young adults really strongly? Over here, teens can't get vaccinated at all, but they have been saying that it doesn't affect teens as heavily. That's why it took them so long to close schools and such, because they didn't think it was necessary, even though it was reasoned that even if they didn't get it as badly, they could still spread it to people who WOULD get it heavily. But if you are vaccinated, even if he gets it, it might not be too bad because he's in the age group that supposedly doesn't usually get it as bad. And it sounds like he does take other precautions, so he's not completely vulnerable. Is he comfortable traveling? Are there travel restrictions there if you aren't vaccinated?

That Amazon situation sounds frustrating. They are such a mixed bag for me. When I have to return something, I just go to Kohl's as is and they take care of it for me. Once it's in their system, I get a refund--usually before I've gotten to my car. But these are small things, not like what you have. But, I no longer order non-perishable/shelf stable food from them, because it is non-refundable. If it is moldy--too bad. If the jar broke and the contents leaked out--sorry-no refunds. I don't understand why that is allowed. As long as you submit photos of the mold/damage, I think they should refund you. Why should I have to pay for damaged goods or items the vendor improperly stored or packaged?

I am kind of weird about pedicures, but I am always glad when I've gone. I kind of have to psych myself up to go. I hate making small talk, but I don't want to be rude, so I talk a little bit. When I had my pedicure on Friday, my husband had the owner doing his pedicure. She kept trying to talk to me, but I didn't want my tech to think I was ignoring her, so I tried to disengage from the conversation. Then I just closed my eyes and let myself enjoy the pedicure and the massage chair. So, when I was getting my manicure, she asked my husband what was wrong with me! My husband told her I am just a quiet person when I am around people I don't know very well. She was also making comments about the size of my husband's feet and winking at me. I was like, really? I am not a prude, but I think that's embarrassing, both for my husband and myself.

I don't order a ton of food items through Amazon, but I guess I've been fortunate that everything I've ordered has been OK. I can't believe they won't do anything over a broken jar. That's ridiculous. I normally return smaller items to the UPS Store (closer than Kohls in my case), but I guess it's cheaper for Amazon to use these ground freight firms for big items like this. After posting yesterday, I decided to reach out to Amazon again. This time, I got someone willing to dig a little deeper. It turns out there were some errors with shipping data being loaded into their systems. So, my refund was finally issued.

While I am a fairly extroverted person, having a stranger work with my hands or feet makes me uncomfortable, to the point that I find it more challenging to make the small talk that normally comes so easily. I wouldn't call that prudish either. I think some conversation is just inappropriate between certain parties. In other words, that's not something I'd expect to be even hinted at with my manicurist. I still may do it if the girls are on board.

I think the concern is the Delta variant that's becoming the dominant strain, which does seem to impact younger people more and is more easily transmitted (according to the news). I believe it's what caused things to get so bad in India and seems to be driving the more recent surges in the US among unvaccinated people.

Well, my blister is still an issue and the chaffing is still a mess, but I did bike and do arms last night. I think I put in close to 11 miles. The bike doesn't irritate any of it, so it's something. I had to run some errands and the chaffing felt pretty bad having to walk around, so I didn't want to push things too much. It's pouring again here, so I'll likely be doing more inside tonight.

Seeing the virus talk...my parents called me last night because they may be dealing with cases of breakthrough infections. My mom had a low grade fever on Sunday, I guess my nephew also had a fever, and then my brother called last night to tell them he'd lost his sense of taste and smell. My niece and nephew are too young to be vaccinated, but my parents, brother and SIL were all vaccinated very early on. Not sure when my brother is getting tested, but my parents are supposed to get tested tomorrow morning. I don't think they thought anything of it until my brother lost his sense of taste and smell...like we're back to just getting little bugs here and there. If they do wind up testing positive, I have to hope that being vaccinated will add up to more mild cases. EDIT- Dad is starting to feel yucky and my mom ran a higher fever overnight. Ugh.

So is the vaccine effective against the Delta strain then? I know over here, they had been worried that it wouldn't work against all the new strains, and I think the Brazilian strain in particular. But I don't know if we have the Delta strain over here or not. I'm hoping they'll decide to go ahead and let teens get vaccinated. They have been discussing it for weeks and I wish they'd just do it. I know it would be too late for the vacation period, but at least my kids would be protected then. Germany JUST lifted restrictions against Dutch people traveling...we can travel freely there now, as of Monday, I think. But I think we're still on the list of places where we'd have to quarantine for 2 weeks if we went anywhere else. We're allowed to go, but we would have to have negative test results and then quarantine. We still have no plans to go anywhere. I had thought we might head to Austria, but we just can't. Maybe by the fall vacation we can take a few days. Or maybe we can head down to Bavaria again. The kids have wanted to go back to the hotel where we stayed in 2018 and visit some of the other castles in the area and such. So much to see in the world...it's hard to be stuck at home!

They say they are pretty effective. I'm really hoping it's just a cold. My brother apparently neglected to tell my parents that he had started a new regimen involving two nasal sprays and a cream. He's since found out that those can alter his sense of taste and smell. Information that would have been helpful up front before creating a lot of worry. He said he was already regaining some of these senses yesterday. My friend who had Covid earlier this year fully lost these senses for weeks and still has some issues, so it's sounding more promising that this isn't Covid. They're all getting tested today, so we'll know for certain a little later on. Assuming this is a false alarm, it shows how we're all going to have to start getting used to catching colds and little bugs.

The having to quarantine after arrival is what makes certain travel impossible for most people. While not as long of a period, one of my coworkers was supposed to go somewhere in the Caribbean, but it was a 5 day trip and they were requiring something like 3 days of quarantine upon arrival. No point in going. Going to Bavaria sounds nice. Hopefully they'll allow kids to be vaccinated soon so you can look at something for the fall.

My workouts are a mess dh wound up in the ER Monday with a digestive issue. Meds and a special diet for the next several weeks. James is on his way home so both of us are going to prep all day for Sunday, get some food in the fridge for the boys ready to go and make my dh a bunch of the very few foods he'll be allowed to eat. He's back on nights so he needs a fridge full of things he can just quietly heat up while us normal people are sleeping

Yesterday, I got in about 10.5 miles on the bike and then some arms. Chaffing and blister are still too painful to try much else. It's also been raining a lot, so even trying to walk would be a soupy mess. Other than that, just trying to get some final stuff done for the trips. Yesterday, I got a bunch of clothes for the kids, and they've been reminded that these are for vacation AND back to school. I also got our entry passes for Carlsbad Caverns today. Waiting for results back on my parents' tests. Hoping it's just a cold.

Just got off the phone with my dad. They are still waiting on my mom's results, but he tested positive for Covid. My brother and nephew are also supposed to be tested today, but considering they were all around each other and all displayed symptoms within 24-48 hours of each other, I'd guess they're all positive. With my parents' ages, I insisted he call his dr right away and see if there's any other meds they want to get them on, just to make sure things don't get out of hand. I'm hoping the experts are at least correct in saying that breakthrough infections should at least result in milder cases. So, it's looking like we won't be seeing them next week and we may reevaluate our stance on masks for a while.

Good news! Tuesdays are update days on covid news, and apparently they decided yesterday to let teens get vaccinated. They said by next Friday, all teens from age 12 and up will have gotten an invitation to make an appointment. They are starting tomorrow morning with the 17 year olds. E was really happy about it as she really wants to get vaccinated. I haven't told A yet...he's going to be a harder sell, but if we don't tell him the decision is ultimately up to him, I think we'll be ok. 16 year olds get to make the choice themselves, but 12-15 year olds are supposed to discuss it with their parents first, but the final decision gets preference in court, so a kid can fight it if they disagree with their parents. E's only request is that she can wait until after her English portfolio due date, which is next friday. She wants to have all her school obligations out of the way before getting it in case of a reaction, which works out perfectly since that's the day we are supposed to have the letter to make the appointment. Hopefully there will be appointment times pretty soon. E will get her letter before A, but we'll wait and set it up so they can go at the same time.

Will he stick to the restricted diet if you aren't awake to make him or will he cheat?

Yes, they are all fully vaccinated. My brother and SIL work in hospitals and had access to the vaccine by late December. My brother was able to get my parents in for theirs as well. So, they were all fully vaccinated by late January. My parents and brother got Pfizer and my SIL got Moderna. So, now I have to hope that it doesn't get worse than a yucky cold for them. Ugh...and now I'm worried about travel and the kids going back to school. Sorry...venting.

I can understand her reasons to wait just a little. I know my friend did that with her daughters since they had some stuff coming up. I was the only one in our house who really had any kind of reaction, minus some arm soreness. So, hopefully your kids will be the same when they get it.

Well if they've all been vaccinated, it's kind of weird if they are all positive, isn't it? That just doesn't make sense, unless the vaccine's effectiveness wears off really quickly. I really hope none of the rest are positive!
