working out for Disney

I don't know what your temps are like right now, but mine is always worse in warmer weather conditions.
For sure! It hasn't been very warm here this week. Average temps for this time of year are 16 celsius, but this week has been 11 or 12 and pretty cloudy. So it hasn't been very nice. Last week I had to wear sunscreen and didn't need a jacket. This week is the opposite.

Good morning,

I pulled a hamstring last week, so I took a few days off to let it heal. Yesterday I went to Hershey and did the walking and it doesn't feel painful, so I think I can go back to my usual routine tomorrow.

Today I have to go to the dentist. Apparently I have a bit of TMJ going from grinding my teeth in my sleep. I wasn't worried about it, but now I'm getting pain in my jaw, so I'm getting a bite guard made. Thankfully my medical insurance covers it. And then after work I am going to bed early because I'm exhausted.

Trying to get back into the swing of things. I focused on what I was eating last week and cut out a number of the bad things I'd been allowing into my diet. Saturday night was my cheat meal, but other than that, I was pretty good. I walked for a couple of miles on Saturday and while it's not a traditional workout, I spent 2.5 hours washing both vehicles yesterday, which is absolutely exhausting. I'm hoping to either walk or bike today after work.

I was tired, but I at least did something after work. I went grocery shopping during my lunch break...so that's 40-45 minutes of walking around and pushing around a cart, but I biked for 30 minutes after logging off of work. Got in 9.80 miles. I used the set of 8lb weights for a bit...triceps, upper back, and shoulders. My arms and back are really fatigued from scrubbing the vehicles yesterday, so I hope this helps them some. Then I finished on the twist plate for my obliques and used the set of 5lb weights to boost things.

I'm waiting on a university license plate frame, but I decided to keep it more classy with this vehicle and work with the chrome. So, that means, my chrome Mickey hitch plug came off the shelf, got cleaned up, and is now on the back of the vehicle.

I did manage to get in a workout yesterday, but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. My younger one came home from school and had all kinds of questions about her band concert. I thought the concert was Thursday, but it turns out she has two concerts this week. There is one on Thursday, but there was also one last night. So, my workout time and dinner time were devoted to band. I was starving by the time we got home, so I made myself an egg white scramble with some kale, let it settle for a bit and then just hit the gym.

Nothing too exciting as it was late and I was already pretty tired, but I biked for 30 minutes (9.85 miles), three sets of squats, three sets of plies, and three sets of calf raises, and then a set of 100 weighted oblique twists on the twist plate. Kids have batting today, but hoping I will get in a workout after that.

I think I'm running opposite from @Figgy1. I can't seem to get in a workout until evening. Yesterday...it was 9:15pm when I finally hit the gym. I too was a hot sweaty mess...to the point that I was tangled in my clothes and needed help. Nothing out of the ordinary or more than what I've been doing of late...30 minutes on the bike for 9.91 miles, arm and back work with the 8lb weights, and 100 reps with the 5lb set on the twist plate. Still also trying to be more mindful of what I'm eating. This has been my breakfast of choice all week...puffed brown rice, a sprinkling of raw unsalted sunflower seeds, fresh blueberries, and banana almond milk.

So I'm a dummy.

I started on my elliptical, as usual. Partway through, I realized I was having asthma symptoms. Do I stop? Nah, kept going until after 35 minutes, I felt like I might pass out. All I could think about was, "If I don't do this, I'll get a migraine."

Better now. I have a second inhaler that does the job.

Maybe next time stop immediately and finish later? Have you tried breaking up your workout routine into several smaller workouts? Like doing 3 ten minute sets, or 2 sets of 15 minutes? Would that help avoid athsma?

I think I was probably already having trouble, so that's what happened. Normally, I can go on my elliptical for 45 minutes straight with no symptoms. I don't run because of the asthma, though. I can get my heart rate up on a bike or an elliptical normally and have no symptoms, but trying to run I'll immediately have symptoms. But yeah, sometimes I can't tell that I'm having trouble, so if I was beforehand, it exacerbated it.

Breaking it up I don't think would help because then I can't get my heart rate as high, which is what prevents the migraines.

I haven't decided yet whether I'll do some pilates today or take the day off. I can feel I'm having some slight asthma symptoms, so I guess it depends on that.

I've done really well with dieting. So far, I've cut out the potato chips completely. If I really want a salty snack, I go for Goldfish instead, but that happens maybe once a week. Now I'm working on cutting out Oreos. I do have to keep some candy around because I'm hypoglycemic.

This has been my breakfast every morning...

Lunch is either a sandwich with a piece of fruit or a salad. I don't order out at all anymore. The toast keeps me full, so I haven't felt as much need to snack during the day.

I once drove myself to GBMC from where I live while having an attack. No one was home, and the person I normally would have called was out of town, so I was like, ah, I'll get in the car and start driving. Then I got there, realized I walked into the ER and had left my phone in the car, walked back out to the car, got my phone, and walked back in, and calmly told them I was having an asthma attack, basically whispering it because at that point, I could not breathe. They put the pulsox on my finger and my oxygen levels were pretty low apparently, so not a bit of that was smart, but no way was I calling an ambulance.

Now I have a pulsox to make sure before I get in the car and start driving. So that way I can kind of prevent myself from doing stupid stuff.
