So she is on an evening dinner/sightseeing cruise this evening and has sent me a few photos.

No wonder she loves her job!!!! :joyfull:

Last one. Hope I did not bore you too much, just lonely this evening and felt like sharing her photos.

Bore?! No way! These were some great photos that she took of the N.Y. skyline -- very enjoyable! I think it's so nice that she can share her adventures with you, remotely, from the boat. I'm glad you posted these; they're fun!

Hello-

I did a 60 minute yoga practice this morning. It did bother my shoulder a bit. To be honest, I kept looking my watch, too. I think I'll stay with my shorter workouts for the time being. I just felt like I needed something a bit lower key this morning. I'm going to go out for a walk before it gets hot.

My AP expires in Sept. I can't, in good conscience, renew my AP. It's just over a grand with taxes. I can think of so many better ways to spend (or save) that money. I know lots of shiny, new things are coming online, but none of them resonate with me. I was the WDW hold out in my family, since my husband and son stopped enjoying it years ago. It was an easy place for me to meet my friends a few times a year. My last two trips were too crowded and filthy. I ended up spending more time at DS than the parks, so what is the point? Attendance would need to be significantly reduced for me to consider spending that kind of money for an AP. But I guess I am paving the way for that to happen. ;) For now, I will still enjoy my DCL cruises. They are not cheap, but I still feel like I am receiving a premium product. I have stopped feeling that way about the parks. :(

Two of the sassiest dogs I've ever had were small ones! I had a toy poodle who thought he was a Great Dane. He turned into the grouchiest old man when he got older. He would bark at you when he wanted to sit next to you on the couch, but when you tried to pick him up, he'd snap at you. He would do the same when he wanted to get down. Our solution was to put a towel over him and then pick him up.

My Jack Russell terrier was a menace! If you were on the phone and he wanted you to take him for a walk, he would pull the phone line out of the jack. We had to buy new lines a lot, because he would pull on the line, but that little plastic bit would stay in. He would "talk back" to you if you corrected his behavior, even if you simply said a stern "no" to him. Of all of the dogs I've had, he was the most challenging for me.

I think this is why we've always opted for larger dogs. Not that big dogs can't have sass and drama, but they seem to mellow a lot more than toys and smaller breeds. It's funny though, both puppies talk back like that when reprimanded.

I love those little owls. I had my old big camera with me when we were there back in 2015 and got much better pictures.

I just didn't want to cause my parents any extra stress with me trying to get in workouts. So, I got creative and improvised. My mom is usually the one who gets the manicures from my niece, but we all just took over her normal duties since she wasn't ready to be down on the floor with a 3 year old.

The cheapest fare on Southwest for this recent FL travel was $635 o_O We just usually go with whatever airline is the best deal for the $ after factoring in all of the add on's. It usually ends up being United, Southwest or American, since United and Southwest have hubs in Houston and American's Dallas hub means lots of flights in and out of Houston. We're flying Southwest to Denver for our next trip. They beat United and American by hundreds. I guess at least we have options when it's a major city. Last summer's vacation revolved around time in Yellowstone with a wish list including Mount Rushmore and Devil's Tower. Options are much more limited up there.
What are you going to do in the Denver area? There are some beautiful mountain areas there, and a dinosaur park. Are you staying in Denver, or are you branching out?

I never sleep well when thunder storms come through, even when it's that gentle, rumbling thunder. Was it your puppies' first time in a kennel?

Sometimes, I think it's worse to be outside in 70s and oppressive humidity. It was like that here the other day, I went for a walk after a big storm and it was humid and low 70s. It was miserable outside and I felt like a set go gills would have been a big help. I don't know what it is, but it just feels "clammier" than 90s and humid.

My husband thinks it's nuts that I don't sleep like a baby through storms, but they always wake me up and the nerves start kicking in. I start thinking about wind and all of our trees. At least our blinds and drapes keep the lightning from being visible.

It was their first time being boarded. I was nervous, but this place was always so good with our last dog.

I'm so torn on the heat vs. humidity issue and I haven't decided how I want to handle it with training. I like getting the runs and workouts done early if possible, but I really think my early evening runs on weekdays are better because I'm not fighting that early morning humidity. i.e. the sweat can actually do its job. It's typically upper 70s to low 80s if I do a morning run, but the humidity is up around 90%. It is mid to low 90s if I run in the evening, but the humidity can dip in the 40-50% range at that time, which seems to be a bit better. I found the same to be true back when I was distance walking in 2014/2015. It's just so easy to push it off when I wait until the end of the day.

I have a new challenge when we travel next month...altitude!

My fitbit is FINALLY registering my daily bike rides to pick up DS. It's so hot and humid here....yesterday, when by the time I got to the school, my heart rate was at 152....I'm not sure that's healthy.
Work is terrible...we have no airco and no windows or ventilation system, so people are dropping like flies. 6 people yesterday passed out or threw up and got sent home.

The plan is to make a big loop. We have a few days in Denver to explore as well as start the altitude acclimation process. We're staying in downtown at some hotel with themed floors, so the kids should have fun with that and there looks like there's a lot to do in that part of the city. We may even catch a Rockies game, but we're really just going to see what we're up for. We're then driving up to Estes Park, CO and spending several days around Rocky Mountain National Park. We'll definitely go into the park, but I also have a horseback riding trip booked and I'm thinking about booking the evening ghost tour at the Stanley. After that, we're driving northwest to go to Dinosaur National Monument and will be spending a night in that area. Then we're heading into Utah to spend a couple of days to get a taste of Arches and Canyonlands. We'll be staying in Moab for that part, so we'll be closer to Arches. After that, we head back into CO and should be spending a day to check out Mesa Verde NP. We then head east to Great Sand Dunes NP, but we're going to try and pop into Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP on the way so the kids can get their books stamped and we can take a quick look. The next couple of nights will be near Browns Canyon NM so we can go whitewater rafting and relax in the hot springs. If there's time, we may even drive into Aspen for an evening since we'll be close. After that, we're driving back to Denver and I'm looking to take the route that goes past Pikes Peak. Once back in Denver, we're going to stay on the outskirts for our last night since we want to try and go to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. We have a fairly late flight out on our last day, so it should give us some time in the morning to explore and hopefully see the bison.

There are all kinds of fancy things out there to calculate the whole HR thing, and each is a bit controversial. 220-Age for maximum heart rate is the easiest, but it doesn't account for anything but age.

Wow! That's awful for working conditions. I suspect that things don't normally get this warm, so you wouldn't typically need some kind of ventilation. Do you have any way of getting fans in there or some kind of portable a/c? I know some people will put a bowl of ice beneath their fan to help cool the air being blown if there's no a/c.

So, I worked out on Monday because I was planning on yesterday as a break day. I got in a run on Monday...a little over 5k...and I beat my previous best 5k time. I rested a bit when I got home and then hit the gym. I was feeling ridiculously tired. I biked for about 20 minutes at my standard speed, but dropped to cool down speed for 3 min and was just done. I tried doing legs, but again...done. I think I got through two sets before saying no. I thought maybe I'd make up for it in abs, but I went through my normal weekday round and was just done there too. Nothing in the tank left to do my ending walk on the treadmill or even the climber. I thought maybe this was just my body telling me it was tired from all of the travel and nerves, but no...

So, on the last night that hubby and the kids were in Louisiana, my older one told me she was having really bad stomach pains. She ended up getting sick...multiple times...even after they got home on Sunday afternoon. Nobody else was sick, so we thought it might be heat, eating too much, or food poisoning. Mid-afternoon Monday, my husband came home early. I thought it was just because of some people coming by for house stuff, but now he was sick. They both had crawfish on Saturday, so there was still some hope that this was food poisoning. About 4am Tuesday morning, I woke up with horrible stomach pain. I got sick a few hours later and had a fever all day. By mid afternoon, the younger one got sick. We're all doing much better today, but I guess that's why my body had enough of the working out on Monday. I'm going to take it easy today since my stomach is still cramping a bit.

Good morning--

I did a "300 rep workout" this morning. It was 10 reps of 10 different exercises done for three rounds. I struggled with some of the moves, because I am on the tall side and I couldn't move as quickly as she could. It's done for the day, though. I am hoping to get out for a walk before it pours.
That sounds interesting do you have a link? THNX

Hello guys! Sorry I am so behind on this thread that I can never catch up. So, glad that you all are still doing pretty well from what I read. Busy lives for all of us!
I am still doing my walking plus being outdoors all day is adding to the steps. It is one of my favorite times of the year. I hate being cooped up inside.
Anyhoo, I am still kicking! :joyfull:
