working out for Disney

I debated about going into the office today. I was on the calendar for a vacation day, but I really didn't need this day. I decided to take it anyway. We had storms start rolling through around 4am and I'm not the type that sleeps well with lots of thunder. I was also concerned because my older one developed some tummy issues towards the end of their time in Louisiana. She seems to be doing better, so that's good. We also got the puppies from boarding yesterday and they did pretty well.

Monday is normally my break day, but since I'm home, I'm thinking about going out for a run and then hitting the gym. While humid, it's only in the low 70s due to the rain. I was in the gym yesterday and took a break from running since I ran every day while in FL. Tuesdays are normally run days, but I'll use tomorrow as a break day since breaks are better on days when I have to drive into the office. Now I just have to drag myself off the couch. The puppies are napping, the kids are sleeping in and I'm just watching the cardinals and robins come up to the back door.

I never sleep well when thunder storms come through, even when it's that gentle, rumbling thunder. Was it your puppies' first time in a kennel?

Sometimes, I think it's worse to be outside in 70s and oppressive humidity. It was like that here the other day, I went for a walk after a big storm and it was humid and low 70s. It was miserable outside and I felt like a set go gills would have been a big help. I don't know what it is, but it just feels "clammier" than 90s and humid.

Hello-

I got up at 4:30 did a workout that I really struggled to complete. It was a lot of one arm swings, jumping over a box and dead lifts. I think I should have eaten a little something before hand, I felt a little nauseous at the end and had to use a lighter kettlebell for the one arm swings. I'd like to go for a walk, but I got back later than I thought I would and I avoid being out in the sun this time of the day.

I went into Philly to look at a school with my son. This tour...went on forever and ever. It started at 10 AM and went on until 1:30. I thought we'd be out of there by noon, but no. Our group was comprised of people interested in the Media Arts program, so they took us to the Business school to look at it. :cautious: We finally got the building where all of the Media Arts classes are. That was the second presentation of the day and it was about 75 min. We had to leave because my husband had to get back to work. My son would have to submit a portfolio of his work if he wanted to go here. When he found that out, he said, "I don't want people seeing my characters and storyboards." Well, ok, then, because I am pretty sure any school that has a game design program is going to want to see your work. 🤷‍♀️

She does have a bit of an attitude sometimes.
All dogs have an attitude. You should see mine -- he doesn't hold back when he accuses us of not making his world perfect. :hilarious:

Two of the sassiest dogs I've ever had were small ones! I had a toy poodle who thought he was a Great Dane. He turned into the grouchiest old man when he got older. He would bark at you when he wanted to sit next to you on the couch, but when you tried to pick him up, he'd snap at you. He would do the same when he wanted to get down. Our solution was to put a towel over him and then pick him up.

My Jack Russell terrier was a menace! If you were on the phone and he wanted you to take him for a walk, he would pull the phone line out of the jack. We had to buy new lines a lot, because he would pull on the line, but that little plastic bit would stay in. He would "talk back" to you if you corrected his behavior, even if you simply said a stern "no" to him. Of all of the dogs I've had, he was the most challenging for me.

That looks delicious. Extra fresh and tasty I bet.
Thank you, I figured you'd like it. Naan, roasted red pepper hummus(I bought a whole case of peppers), Mango chutney, pineapple chutney(with red peppers), Falafel loaf(way easier than making a gazillion little balls, and baked to cut down on fat), salsa(I had almost as many tomatoes as peppers in my shopping cart), cucumbers and a bit of onion marinated in vinegar, mustard and a bit of stevia and tangerine brown rice. The apple chutney made it onto his second plate

I had some spareribs that needed to go either in the freezer or on the grill. On the grill it is. They shrank a whole bunch (probably could have taken them off an hour earlier) but still came out fairly tender and moist.

This made me think opening credits of "The Flintstones," when Fred gets that order of "brontosaurus ribs" at the drive in. 🤣

I made some ribs last night and had plenty left so this morning I cut the meat from them, diced it up
and made bbq burnt ends.
Made a sauce out of butter, honey, brown sugar and bbq sauce, poured it over the diced up ribs
and let it cook on low temp in the little toaster oven for a couple of hours.
The sauce mixture turned into a nice, caramelized glaze, the meat got extra tender, and it was
kinda like meat candy.
Very tasty. Served it with some unsweetened apple sauce and that turned out to be a good choice.
Anyway, it was fun trying something new and different, I just had to ignore the ridiculous amount of sugar and fat I consumed.
I have had beef brisket burnt ends before, but no harm done in trying something with leftovers.

Good morning,

I got back from Hawaii yesterday. This morning, I woke up at 6. I didn't have to be at work until 9, so I thought, "I'll go to the gym." I stood up, and then thought, "No, no I shouldn't," and then laid back down. According to my Fitbit, I wasn't entirely awake at that point either.

I'm going to catch up on sleep a bit more tonight and then try again tomorrow, hopefully before work, but then if not, after work.
