working out for Disney

My mom is still in the hospital. Her levels still weren't where they needed them to be, so they gave her more blood today. My dad is really hoping she's released tomorrow. She sounds really ready to be out of the hospital. I can't blame her. At least she's now in a private room and can rest more. She wasn't able to sleep much when she was in the ICU.

I hope your mom can go home today. (Unless she needs specific medical attention, that is best administered in an appropriate medical setting), she may heal quicker in the comfort of her own home. Wishing her and your dad some good news for today.

So, my older one wanted to start running with me. This sounds awful, but I know how she is and I didn't have high expectations for this. So I told her we could try and run on a day when I'm not doing training work. I'll spare you a ton of the frustrating details and just say it didn't go well. We got in a little over a mile of running and about two walking...with a lot of whining and stopping. I told her that she can ride her bike with me if she wants to come again in the near future and that until then she needs to hit the treadmill to work on her stamina, not fight me when I tell her to hydrate, not fight me when I tell her to pace herself, and to make better clothing and footwear choices (especially when we've talked about this stuff and she's already had painful issues). After that, I went up to the gym and biked about 9.35 mi on higher tension while also working my arms with the 5lb dumbbells. After that, I did a bunch of squats, did deadlifts and swings with kettlebells, and worked on my abs.

My mom is still in the hospital. Her levels still weren't where they needed them to be, so they gave her more blood today. My dad is really hoping she's released tomorrow. I'm sorry they didn't spring her from the hospital! How is she feeling?

Thank you!!! She was able to go home yesterday. I'm guessing she didn't get much sleep at the hospital, because my dad said it was really hard to wake her. Scary after everything she's been through of late. She followed up with her regular dr today, but will have to follow up with a local GI dr as well. I should be there for that.

It took a while for them to get word, but she wound up being discharged yesterday afternoon. She seems to be feeling better and is eating well (within her dietary restrictions), but I guess she's quite tired was making up for lost sleep. Still, my dad texted me for a shopping list so she can buy things that I can eat...so, that sounds like she's on the mend.

My workout today was contained most of the norms in a Tuesday workout, but it was all off because I had to change up my schedule. I took my car into the shop at 7am, was done by 7:40, picked up a few things at the grocery store, got gas, and then went home so I could change to run. Normally, my Tuesday run is after work, but I have so much to do that I wanted all of this out of the way. It wasn't my fastest run, but I went a smidge over a 5k and it was my fastest 5k to date. I hit the gym after that. I biked about 15.65 mi, while lifting 5lb dumbbells for 30 min of it and quad blasting for 15 min of it. I did a lot of leg stretches and reps after that and worked on my abs for a bit. To end it, I spent a little over 10 min on the climber. I've been planning out runs for my FL time and my dad is checking to see if I can work out at their gym as a guest.

Even though this isn't a fun visit and my mom's health is the focus, I'm really hoping this reduces some of my stress. Work has been so tough of late and there were issues with the replacement gate opener for our driveway that are becoming a nightmare.

You're dealing with a full plate there. I hope you can get some rest this weekend; and remember, feel free to say "no" to smaller requests. Your hubs and kids can help pick up the slack at home, while you rest. :)

Glad to hear that your mom was able to go home yesterday from the medical facility, and is on the road to recovery.

You tend to stiffen up after a run if you don't keep moving for a while, which leads to extra aches for me, so I give my legs another form of movement for a while to help reduce this. Stretching helps some, but it's part of why they tell you to not stop and keep walking after you've run a distance. I've also suffered from runner's knee in the past, and I've found alternative movements are helping keep that away (fingers crossed!).
I can relate after a double practice today I needed a good walk or I would have had to have been propped up in a corner

@epcotisbest I love your watches, but how did your wayyyy too good for you dw like them? BTW how's your sugar?

Sugar is under control. Last Dr. visit a couple of weeks ago and things looked good. A1C had even come down just a little bit, which I find amazing seeing as how I have not been eating as well as I should be, so there is room for more improvement.
Lets just say my wife was a little confused about me getting another watch, especially since I already have one Blue Angels watch. I explained the new one was a completely different model, and pointed out some of the features like atomic radio control, perpetual calendar, two different time zones display, slide rule bezel and multifunction chronograph.
She insisted it was a waste so I told her I wanted to show her how handy the stopwatch function of the chronograph was and how precise it is.
I asked her to come with me to the closet. She did so reluctantly and when we got in the closet I told her to start counting all her shoes and purses and I would time exactly how long it took.
She just made a funny face and walked out. Point made.

Got in a nice walk this evening. It is a little warm but the humidity is not oppressive and there is a gentle breeze, so pretty good walking weather.
Just picked up my wife's car from the shop. She had to have a new windshield as she got hit by a flying rock from a dump truck the other day. Frustrating, and $250 gone as we chose not to file it on insurance. The dump truck was headed the opposite direction and the driver probably had no idea the damage to her windshield. She said it made a really loud noise when it hit, about eye level right in front of her. The windshield did not shatter, but busted about a tennis ball size chunk. She was startled but OK.

Just the other day in my state, a chock block flew off a truck on the opposite direction on a highway and crashed the windshield of a passenger car on the other side of the highway. Luckily, the driver of the car did not crash into anything. Emergency crews were called in (by other motorists who saw what happened) and miraculously, the driver only have a small cut on his face. The windshield was shattered (keep in mind the guy was driving around 60mph when this happened, and the way the block hit was just about an inch shy of his face. Cops are still trying to locate that truck.

Any time I drive (which isn't often, and mostly just back roads) I try to avoid being around any trucks. No offense to the good, dedicated truck drivers out there (whom I sure make up the majority), that secure things that could fly off, but not all of the drivers pay enough attention, unfortunately.

Yeah, that is scary. My wife drives all the time, part of her job as she has to travel to multiple offices. I worry all the time when she is on the road, and sometimes to the point of almost making myself sick, especially when she has long hours on the road.
It bothers me more than it used to, and I have suggested multiple times she give it up, or try to change positions to something that requires less travel, but she is dedicated to what she does and really likes her job, so I guess I get to just keep on worrying.

Hello-

I haven't done my work out for today yet. I just felt like I needed to sleep in today, so I listened to my body. My sleep was off because my husband was in NYC Monday and Tuesday, my cellar/crawl space flooded on early Thursday AM and my son fell down in the kitchen and hit his head late Thursday night. Ugh. He was fine, but my husband took him to the ER, just to rule out anything like a concussion. The right side of his face is bruised, though.

I've been doing short (20-25 minute) work outs lately. I've been using my kettlebell, pull up bar, etc. For now, I am preferring the shorter work outs, but that could change any time.

I have applied to three regional airlines in the past two weeks. One of them sent me a "thanks, but no thanks" hours after I applied, another gave me one a few days later, and I applied to another one yesterday. I am totally prepared for a no from them, too. I am 0-5, so far. 🏆 I can reapply for Frontier in August and that is where my friend works. She said she will write me a letter of recommendation, if I decide to reapply again. I'll see how I feel. It's honestly a bit demoralizing. I am beginning to think I lack the "Je ne sais quoi" that FAs possess...

We are going to NC for our vacation in a few weeks. We rented this beach cottage that we rented a couple of years ago, so I am looking forward to that. It's a very chill place with loads of room on the actual beach. :)

I am sorry to hear about your mom, glad she is home. That sounds scary.
