working out for Disney

Good morning. I went to the pool again today. I ended up just swimming for half an hour. I realized when I got there that I forgot a vital piece of clothing if you're a woman and had to run home. Ended up pulling my hair back instead of drying it; not a huge deal.

A couple of my Facebook friends have been promoting a diet. I think they're involved with sales with it. They keep sharing promotional materials. Today the small print caught my eye: average weight loss 12 pounds. Wow. Miracle diet indeed. 😂

It is in the mid-70s, low humidity and a gentle breeze. Great walking weather and I just got in a three quick miles walk. It is supposed to be in the low 60s in the morning, so planning to get up early and get in another three miler before breakfast.
It will be plenty hot and humid here again soon, so taking advantage of this weather is nice.

Thought I'd share...since I'm often living vicariously through my parents' travels and this most recent one is Disney related. They spent a few days at Disney's Vero Beach resort. Looks pretty nice!

We stayed at Disney Vero Beach a few years ago. Beautiful resort.
It has a lovely location right on a beautiful stretch of beach, the grounds were very nice and the pool fantastic.
We went over to the little town of Sebastian several times to try some local seafood places, our favorite had the cute name Squidlips. It was a small seafood dive with very fresh shrimp, etc...
I saw Arlo Guthrie outside his house as we drove by one evening. I was so tempted to stop and say hello, but being a real fan, I decided he probably gets tired of fans stopping at his house and I did not bother him.
He has, or had, don't know if he still does, have a lovely home right on the intercoastal in Sebastian.

You've sometimes lost pounds down through the years, and did it very well on your own. Determined people like yourself don't need any miracle, gimmicky diet that you pay for.

I have not posted a breakfast photo lately so thought I would today. I eat breakfast every day, and the doctor says it is important to not skip breakfast. I have to eat somewhat low-carb and it can get boring, so I try some creative things to not be repetitive. I have some friends who try to eat low-carb as well and they have a difficult time sticking to it and their sugar numbers are harder to manage.
This was easy, very flavorful and not boring at all.
Sauteed some leftover diced, grilled chicken in olive oil with some onions, then added some salsa to the pan and let it reduce the liquid out of the salsa. Served it with regular ole scrambled eggs and topped it all with some shredded cheese. Yes, the onions and salsa added a tiny bit of carbs and sodium, but it was so tasty! And of course, I topped the whole thing with some hot sauce for added kick.

That looks delicious. (For me, I'd leave out the hot sauce, but that's only because I never use that on anything.) For you, I think it's a great idea, and added some extra zing to your breakfast. :hungry:

I see so many of my friends pushing stuff like that. Some have even been outrageous enough to comment on some of my posts with sales pitches. Like, oh...you're tired, PM me...I have the perfect stuff to help give you that extra boost you need. That 12 pounds they're always advertising is probably all water weight too.

My workout this morning was decent and I had high hopes for this evening's run and testing my new watch, but it's been a rough day and it really weighed me down. The heat surely didn't help, nor did crazy stuff from work, but I got a call after lunch that my mom was in the hospital. Of course, they're still up in Vero, so it's nothing near home. At first, they just thought she was dehydrated and were giving her IV fluids, but after further observation and new issues coming up while there, they realized she was experiencing some kind of internal bleeding. They were going to wait 24 hours since her last meal, but after getting a specialist in ahead of schedule, they decided to take actions so they could do a procedure tonight. And that's where we left things when I went out for my run. I just didn't have it in me to push. I didn't run horribly and it helped relieve some of my stress, but my numbers weren't great either. I did like the watch, and that's good, because my older one wants me to run with her this weekend and she's going to start using my old watch. In any event...We'll know more tomorrow on my mom, but so far, we know they found an esophageal tear that they were able to clip up. So, we'll see what tomorrow holds.

So sorry to hear about your mom, and I hope that her procedure was successful and that no further medical treatment will be needed.

The deception is the issue. I bought two packages of cookies on Sunday, one for each girl to last the better part of the week. They are different flavors, because each has their own fave, so no mistaking whose package is whose. The mint ones for my younger one are nearly gone, but she swears she's only eaten about half of what's missing. My husband hates mint, so I know it's not him. I can't eat them due to dietary concerns. So, it's the kids eating them, but which one is the Cookie Monster? 😂 I strongly believe it's the older one, but it's also possible that the younger one is sleepwalking. I haven't caught her doing this in a long time, but she has a history of it. I've debated about moving one of the cameras to face the pantry, but it would be such a pain since I'd be sifting through video of them eating all kinds of things.
Even if you moved the camera, would you be able to see WHICH package of cookies is being eaten? Are the packages a different color? I doubt the older one will own up to it even if she did it. My brother wouldn't ever admit he had hidden the box of cereal because he'd have gotten in trouble. So he'd tell my mom I must have eaten the whole box and that's why it wasn't there, and then I'd find the box hidden in the cupboard next to where it was supposed to be, ALL the way in the back, behind a bunch of other stuff. Gee....how did it get there? Or it wouldn't even be in the kitchen, it would be in the linnen closet in the laundry room. And no one sleepwalked, so it was just my brother hiding it so I couldn't have any. When mom started buying us our own boxes and I realized he was stealing mine, I started hiding my box. We had a garbage bin that was never used for garbage, where we kept all our extra emergency winter gear...scarves, hats, and also some things like extra bags of flour and sugar, and I would stick my box in there because he never had a need for anything in there. Ah, the lengths we go to to thwart siblings!!

How does that happen? And esophegeal tear? Is that from eating something sharp? I hope she's better soon! That would be rough....spending your vacation in the hospital.

This had been my social media feed so much so I ended up deactivating my FB. I had lost 40 pounds over the past year and a half and some “friends” wanted to sell me some miracle pill to lose the final 10.

My miracle pills are my weights :hilarious:

Thank you! So far, so good. My dad said she's doing much better this morning. She's getting another unit of hemoglobin for the blood loss, but it's sounding much better today. Hopefully, things will continue to improve.

I should. The mint cookies have brown and green packaging and the raspberry cookies are in hot pink and white packaging. You are spot on though...the older one will never own up to it. I know my younger one will hide stuff if she really likes it and thinks her big sis will get into it. I have a few good spots in the fridge that could work for her cookies, where I know the older one never looks. So, we may have to go that route. Always such drama over silly things! Kids :hilarious::rolleyes:

She had been vomiting that morning. We're not sure if she had too much wine, something with the food, interaction with her blood pressure meds, or what...but they feel the intensity of the vomiting was enough to cause the tear. My husband was wondering if something sharp had gotten into her food, but nothing (to my knowledge) was seen in the scans and exploratory. I already told them that they're not allowed to go back to Disney Vero. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with the resort, but we're a bit superstitious and this was their second attempt to go there with some old family friends. The last time they tried to go to Vero, one of those family friends suffered a major stroke. So, no more Vero Beach.

And the funny thing is...if whatever they're doing/taking is working for them and isn't hurting them in other ways (i.e. heart damaging stimulants, intestinal/digestive upset, etc.), I applaud their efforts to become healthier. It just crosses a line when they take that and try and sell me with it.

I think we take similar "pills." 😂

Added to my watch collection today. Not a big collection, five or six, but a couple I have placed somewhere in a drawer and can't find right now. Did not need a new watch, but liked this Citizen Promaster (the blue dial one on the right in the second pic) so went ahead and got it just for the heck of it. Now, how to explain to my wife why I now have four watches (that I can find)?
