working out for Disney

I can understand leaving instruction list for laundry esp. if that's your thing, but my MIL's partner is retired and spends his days down at the betting parlor betting on horses. He could cook a little something for himself, if he really wanted to. He could get carry outs or even buy ready meals at the supermarket. To me, it seems like he doesn't want to do the long distance travel she wants to do, but he's not happy she's going anyway. I think this where all the cooking for him comes in. It's like, "OK, you can go, but I am going to make you work for it." It just rubs me the wrong way and it seems manipulative to me.

When my MIL comes to visit us, he calls so many times a day, too--asking where things are, how to do things, that sort of thing. And when she doesn't answer the phone, he calls my husband 2 seconds later. He is always welcome to visit with my MIL and we've said this to him, but he doesn't like the US. His dislike is based on one trip to Orlando 25 years with my MIL and SIL when she was a teen. From all accounts, SIL was a brat and ruined the trip. OK, then. LOL
I totally understand! My FIL just lets everyone around him do everything like he's entitled. He is pretty much got the macho thinking that I am the male and king of my castle, so you bow down to me and do what I need to make me comfortable. He has always been like that. When my DH and I got married, he really rubbed me the wrong way right from the start. He doesn't respect and value my opinions because I am female which really burns me. My FIL calls and if we don't answer, he keeps calling back. He called 10 times the other night. It's like-do you think we may be away from the phone or busy?? No, we just sit over here waiting for you to call so we can answer it. And then it is something so trivial that he could have left a voicemail about. Ugh! Sometimes....

Hello--

I am in with a cardio/bodyweight workout.

I made two more layers of cake and this is going to be the sorriest Valentine's Day cake ever. :hilarious: They are still thin. I don't have three 6 inch pans--which is what the recipe called for. I have two 10 inch pans, one 8 inch pan, and one 9 inch pan. I used the 8 inch pan. I'll just fill the layers well and not get upset about it. It's just for the three of us, it's not like I am taking it to a party. I had some cute ideas for decorating. I am still going to do it, I just don't think it's going to look like what I had envisioned in my head. It's the thought that counts, right?

I am making sesame tofu with baby spinach tonight.

Does anyone actually own three 6 inch pans? Lol I have the same three sizes you have. I would be doing the same thing you did. Having flat cake. Hey it will still taste good!

My mil does, but she bakes wedding cakes

I am kicking myself, because I was just in Michael's over the weekend and I could have picked a few up. I remember I had two small pans at home, but I went to measure them yesterday and they were 8 inches. I just should have gone back and bought some, but no.

I might call it a Dobos torte. It's like I have four pink champagne flavored pancakes and using baking soda instead of baking powder in the first batch did not help at. all. :hilarious:

I might post photos tomorrow for a laugh. :D

Yeah, that does sound manipulative...or kind of passive aggressive...like "I don't really want you to go because then you're not here taking care of me and I have to do things myself, so I'm going to make you rethink going...show you how much you need to be here and punish you if you decide to go anyway." What childish behavior. I'm glad your MIL still visits though. Do you get along with her?

Do you get along with her?

She talks a lot and I don't. She also talks over me a lot. Sometimes I think it's deliberate because I begin talking and she starts talking and sometimes I think it not. When she does this I just tell her I am trying to talk and to just let me finish my thought. She loses interest in the conversation and stops talking altogether. It frustrates me, because I am a quiet person and I am mostly a listener. I don't need to hold court in a conversation.

I finished my cake. I have no idea what the inside looks like, but it came out taller than I thought it would. I tried to make a conversation heart out of fondant and I should have stopped after writing "XOXO" on it. Instead, I painted it with pink and silver pearl dust and it ruined the pastel effect.

That's very pretty. You are talented. Happy Valentines Day.

Now that we've dispensed with the pleasantries, can I have my slice of cake now?

Thank you. Frosting a cake always stresses me out, so I was just relieved I was done. I am always trying to get it perfectly smooth with sharp "edge" at the top.

Aw, thank you! There's plenty left over, since my son won't touch it. He lost interest when I told him it had prosecco in it, so come on down!

Thanks. :) I kept redo-ing the frosting and I finally reached a point where I just accepted it was as good as it was going to get.

Good morning!! I am looking bing this weather. We hit mid60s yesterday. It felt like Spring! Today is supposed to hit 72!!
I have a few errands this morning then walking outside.
By the way @epcotisbest, you would be proud. My DH grilled steaks last night for dinner. I don’t think he has ever grilled in February before! :)
Nothing wrong with grilling in winter. I do it a lot. Sounds like a nice Valentine's dinner. I did Peri-Peri Chicken and it was good. Went well with a simple salad.
