working out for Disney

Hello-

I took yesterday off, because I really want my shoulder to feel better. It was hurting to rotate my arm, like when I would turn off the shower, put plates away, bring a coffee mug to my mouth. But it feels mostly better and I think the rest helped it along. I did do a kettle bell workout today and there is no soreness. I didn't do any stretching that I thought would tweak my shoulder.

I got my baking items and I am making a cake for Valentine's Day, instead of red velvet macarons. My son won't eat food that is artificially colored, so I am making a pink champagne cake (with prosecco, 'cause that's all I have in the house). I don't want to make 2 dozen macarons for two people.

Hello-

For a change, I did a martial arts/kickboxing workout that was an hour. I don't like working out that long anymore, but the music was good and there was a timer for each segment of the workout. I feel sore already! My shoulder is pretty much back to normal, but I am not doing things like downward dog, planks, and push ups. I think I'll wait a few more days to resume those activities.

Do you do more than workout a day? I was doing 45 minute cardio workouts with about 15 min of pilates as a warm up, but then I had to stop because of the bursitis in my hip. Now my exercise is pretty much built into my daily life....biking to get DS from school, walking at work, etc. But I noticed doing the cardio workout that that's when my hip got bad and I'm wondering if it was because I was doing too long of a workout when maybe I should have broken it up? And you said your shoulders were sore...is it possible that it's bursitis?

Good morning. Keeping up with YWA and today will be JM's Killer Body and a walk with my group Finally. Lunch will be salad with quinoa, strawberries and walnuts. I'm still trying to decide what to make for dinner most likely I'll just stir unfry some veggies and tofu because they guys have left overs

Good afternoon. Checking in with walking and weights today. Also, continuing with spring cleaning.
Had a good weekend. It was nice that DH’s brother came up to do things for his Mom. It gave us a break. FIL is just plain lazy. BIL was trying to show him how to clean and do laundry but he just continued sitting on the couch watching tv. I hope MIL gets out soon from rehab for her hip soon. She won’t put up with that! Lol She is doing good. They have increased PT to twice a day. So hopefully she will continue to progress.
Tonight is leftover turkey tacos.

I usually average about 35 minutes a day. I am more active in the summer with walking and gardening, so I am looking forward to that again. I try to be active in the house, even when I clean, I feel like I am not active. LOL

Bursitis is a possibility, I hadn't thought if that. I guess I just assumed I had a tear from over use. But I think a tear wouldn't have improved so quickly. I was in physical therapy a few years ago for that shoulder. It's been wonky since I had my son. It first started after I had him.

That is good news! My MIL's partner is like that. She does everything for him. She likes to travel and he doesn't, so she goes alone. Before she leaves, she cooks so many meals and the leaves a note about what she cooked and how to cook it. My husband thinks it's ridiculous. LOL

Hello-

Today was a lower body kettlebell routine even though I was a little sore. I live next to a stream and I was watching it overflow its banks and creep towards my house yesterday. It was all gone when I got up the morning. I am looking at getting flood insurance now, because you never know. We don't live in a flood zone, but all it would take is a slow moving tropical storm to flood my house.

I made chicken with cilantro-lime rice and avocado cream for dinner. It was so good, especially the avocado cream part. :hungry:

Smart idea to get flood insurance--it really doesn't take much water to create a flood. (There's usually a waiting period of months before you get accepted for flood insurance, so best to check into it now, before you need it. Hopefully, you'll never need it.)

By the way, your dinner sounds delicious!

I agree. We got almost 4 inches of rain yesterday!

Here is the recipe. I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. It's one pot and I serve it with steamed veggies.

My BIL is a bit like that...we set the table while he sits on the couch and plays on his phone. We help my MIL cook while he plays on his phone. And when we're done, he's out of there before dessert so he doesn't have to clean up. He knows HOW to do the stuff, he just doesn't.
I did have to make DH a detailed instruction list for laundry last year when I was stuck in the US doing stuff for dad's Estate and DH and kids were here at home, but that's because at home, I'm the one who does the laundry and he's supposed to do the dishes. We each have our "thing".

I think I would too. You just never know if it will flood. Your dinner sounds yummy!

This, just like most everything else I post in Figgy's working out thread, has nothing to do with working out, but thought I would post it anyway. While going through some of my brother's stuff, I found a couple of old cast iron skillets. They were cruddy and rusty, but I got them cleaned up nicely and seasoned pretty good too. I like cooking on cast iron. May not use the one with the duck, but just hang it up instead.

I am baking a cake today and I am going to frost it tomorrow.

For starters, I have the wrong size pan, but not only that, I only have one pan that size. It needs to be 6 in. I took the first layer out, it is so flat. I put baking soda, instead of baking powder. They are in the exact same type of can, I grabbed the wrong can. This is the flattest layer ever seen. Ugh.

So, I am going to make another cake. I just have to wait for the butter and egg whites to come up to room temp. If nothing else, I'll just make it a 4 layer cake and adjust the frosting ratios tomorrow. If they stay flat, at least I won't have to torte the cake, which I am really sucky at doing. ~silver lining~ :p

I can understand leaving instruction list for laundry esp. if that's your thing, but my MIL's partner is retired and spends his days down at the betting parlor betting on horses. He could cook a little something for himself, if he really wanted to. He could get carry outs or even buy ready meals at the supermarket. To me, it seems like he doesn't want to do the long distance travel she wants to do, but he's not happy she's going anyway. I think this where all the cooking for him comes in. It's like, "OK, you can go, but I am going to make you work for it." It just rubs me the wrong way and it seems manipulative to me.

When my MIL comes to visit us, he calls so many times a day, too--asking where things are, how to do things, that sort of thing. And when she doesn't answer the phone, he calls my husband 2 seconds later. He is always welcome to visit with my MIL and we've said this to him, but he doesn't like the US. His dislike is based on one trip to Orlando 25 years with my MIL and SIL when she was a teen. From all accounts, SIL was a brat and ruined the trip. OK, then. LOL

Ooh like the duck one. I've never seen one with a picture on the back. I love cooking with cast iron on the girl. I had one that my Mom gave me when we first got married but gave it to the DD so she could have something passed down. I need to get me another one. I enjoyed making cornbread in it when I had it.
