Hello

Checking in from mco. Had a great time. I did the Castaway Cay 5K on Wednesday. It was hot. :hungover:

I ate pretty well. Splurged on 2 up charge meals in terms of calories, but it was worth it.

Tomorrow is back to the real world for working out , if not sooner. :)
Oh glad you had a good time. You needed it! Now you have to take me and Figgy - @figmentfan423 somewhere. Just saying!

Hi gang. Just checking in. I don't know if the blood pressure med is kicking in or it was the "motherly" advice my DD gave me yesterday but today has me feeling like normal for the first time in forever. She told me to up my protein since I am feeling tired. So, today I even got out and went to the grocery store. I feel like a new person. Hope it is the meds because I have certainly worried about this for long enough.
Really looking forward to a quiet weekend with my hubby. The weather is just gorgeous here--sunny, blue skies, low humidity, and 70s.
Hope you all have a wonderful evening and weekend! Have spaghetti with turkey meat sauce in the crockpot. Salad and french bread on the side.
ps @figmentfan423 interested in your opinion about the instapots. May ask my Mom for one for Christmas! I know you said what you have so now you are the expert. Are recipes for a regular crockpot easy to convert over to it?

I have a pressure cooker from Sam's not the "instant pot" but it works great and sometimes I wonder why i didn't get it sooner. Most recipes are done exactly the same as the CP except I hit the sou/stew button and they're done much quicker. I also cook beans, rice and quinoa in it:joyfull: @Sans Souci also has one so you also want her in put.

It was a beautiful, early fall day here today and a great day for a hike. Went to a local state park and hiked a two mile trail along a mountain stream that ends at a lovely waterfall. So four miles round trip with lots of mountain scenery. The stream and waterfall were not as nice as usual because it has not rained much here lately, but the walk was nice and we burned a calorie or two.

Good morning cooking, splashing and YWA today. If I have time when I get home I'm going to attempt to make a "cottage cheese" I hope it works because if it does I'll be able to have "cheese" and crackers again:joyfull: Finally found a good line I can eat, not all but most upload_2017-10-1_7-53-37.jpegI cornered the market seeing they were on sale:D

Hello-

Yesterday was the first day of working out since I came back from my cruise. I started hacking and sneezing Friday night. I am not surprised, I saw lots of kids sneezing into the air and parents not reminding them to cover. :hungover:

I also have pain from the left side of my neck down to my shoulder. I am thinking it's from dealing with luggage. It's been sore for a week. I am hoping it's nothing serious.

Once it warms up, I will go out for a stroll. It's just a bit too chilly for me right now.:coldfeet:

My brother and his wife go on one cruise per year and they have been trying to talk us into going on one with them. They show us photos and some of the places look amazing, and the food looks really good. My wife would like to do the Castaway Cay 5K to add to her collection of Run Disney medals. She has done the Princess Half-Marathon five times, but skipped last year and this year. She is thinking she may just start doing 5Ks as the 13.1 miles is getting more difficult to complete every year.
We both are not very social and prefer our vacation time to be quiet and relaxing. We don't drink at all and a lot of what we see is partying, socializing and drinking, none of which we do. My brother does not drink either, and he says the drunks are easy to avoid, but I have little tolerance for them. I know there is much more to cruising than that, but those things are what make us feel it is not for us.

I have only been on Disney cruises, so I can't speak to other cruise lines. But DCL is very family friendly. You're not going to see drunken people milling around and everything is "clean." When I cruise with my family, we keep to ourselves. We request a table to ourselves and we've always gotten one. I don't drink much myself anymore and I still had a blast.

I am a very introverted, very reserved person and it's never an issue on the cruise. There is so much to do, but you don't have to do it all. I am not trying to tell you what to do, but it seems like I have a similar temperament to you and your wife. I just thought I'd provide some perspective. :)

I have an Instant Pot and I love it. It's like a crock pot on steroids. I didn't use it that much in the summer, because we like to grill, but I'm using it again now that it's getting cooler. I have the smallest, basic one and it's fine for us. I love when I make chili, I can brown my ground turkey in the Instant Pot and not have to use another pan to do it. I just add the rest of the ingredients and cook it.

When I convert Crock Pot recipes to the Instant Pot, I start out using a third less liquid and work from there. So much steam/liquid is created, I feel like you don't need as much.

Also, when you see recipes for 5 minute chili, be aware they mean the cooking time in the IP. It can take 10-15 minutes to come to pressure and then it cooks. But what's great about it is it's a set and forget thing. It frees you up to cook a side dish or set the table before it's done.

Ugh. I figured I'd just spent too much time on airplanes lately. I brought home a cough that has settled painfully into my chest. Theraflu is my best friend right now. I blamed it on the guy who sneezed non stop from Orlando to White Plains, but it could have been the cruise, too. At least I didn't get sick ON the cruise, like I did last year. Hopefully you'll be back to 100% soon!

Thanks for the info!! I may just get Mom to get me one. I showed the DH this weekend and he liked the lightness of the instant pot over our heavy crockpot. Ninja had one to that I need to research too.

Can you up some vitamin C to make it shorter? I bet that pain is from the heavy lifting. Hope you feel better!
Can you believe we are already getting cooler? Ugh!

Oh good! Thanks for the advice. I really think I am going to get one. My DH just loved the lightness and one pot cleanup!
