Hello-

Today is a cardio day for me. I might take it outside, since it looks like it's shaping up to be a beautiful day.

I used my light box for the first time today. I meant to use it for 15 minutes, but I accidentally set it for 30 minutes. I think I need to get earlier to use it, because the sun was up by the time I was done. You're supposed to start out with small increments of time to see how it affects your sleep and your mood. There is a small risk of a manic episode, but I don't think that will be an issue for me. LOL I am also keeping a journal with time I used the box, how long, mood, sleep, energy levels, etc. :)

Good morning!! Wonderful to see sunshine and not as cool this morning! Today is just walking. But, I just heard from my DH and he may leave on Friday to head to the coast for power restoration if Mathew hits. So laundry is a must-do. I also need to do some painting outside since it is dry today. Everyone keep watching the weather since it isn't guaranteed where Mathew will go yet. Take care and have a healthy, safe, and magical day everyone!!:)

I'm praying for the best and prepping for the worst. I'm going to stock my freezer with precooked items that can be reheated on the grill or camp stove, make some extra bread, charge all the charge packs. We had no power after Sandy for a week, some not far from me 2 weeks. Good luck and be prepared everybody!

Good morning 5 LS miles and day 6 yoga. Lots of cooking today stocking my freezer. Looks like bread service is getting pushed back until the end of the week. I did manage to get out with the early walking group and am happy to report on of us not me is down 20 pounds since we've been going out regularly in spring. Dinner tonight eggplant casserole, pasta with marinara(extra large batch so I have some to freeze), salad with chick peas and I'm making gf/df mac and cheese to freeze for the boys. It's a bit cool so a couple of loaves of bread will be going in, all the kneading will give my arms a decent workout LOL Be safe my friends

I guess since I am more used to tornado and blizzard preparation, I really don't know what do for this storm in terms of cooking. I know the biggest threat to me is extended loss of power, but I don't know what types of food to prepare and then cook out doors?

I only have a grill, if the power goes out.

Calm down almost anything can be reheated over indirect heat on a grill. Roasted veggies are great on a grill, eggs and pancakes can be done in an old pan. Heck you can do a whole roast over indirect heat with the lid closed. Salad requires no cooking. I make a batch of quinoa before a storm if it looks like it's going to be a bad one. Canned beans and such are useful, make sure you have a hand turned opener. Just make sure you have batteries, flashlights, I have some left over glow sticks from out trip. Have some emergency cash on hand, a full tank of gas and some games and books. you are far enough inland that the only thing you have to worry about is power. As of now it looks like the northeast will be spared the worst but please keep an eye on the weather.

I wasn't panicking, I was just looking for food ideas. :) I've never experienced a power outage longer than 24 hours and even then, I could have a pizza delivered. I'll keep an eye on the forecast and work from there. :)

Good idea. if it looks like it may be bad make sure to get to the store at least 2 days prior to the start of bad weather. They get crazy as people remember Sandy

What she said! Good luck everyone! I also have to keep water to flush the toilet here. Plus, cat food for the kitty and drinking water. Hope this thing goes fast and gets out of here!

Be safe and i hope it goes out to sea and your dh doesn't have to deal with any damage! I didn't even think about water I always have a couple of cases of bottles and several 5 gallon jugs just in case.

Thanks! I hope not either. They are saying millions could be without power. Ugh! I think they are getting together 75% of their work force to deal with it. We'll see what happens.
Yep I always have jugs of water sitting in the basement for toilet. I found out the hard way one outage! We are usually very lucky and ours doesn't go out very often or for long periods of time. Good luck to you! Make sure if your power does go out, let us know you are ok as soon as you get it back on. :)

Good morning JM ripped in 30 and day 7 yoga. I'm not sure doing abs today was smart seeing yesterday's yoga was ab focused. Oh well it's abs and not like I'm doing them tomorrow:hilarious: Looks like I won't get anything but regular rain from Mathew, if this holds all day maybe I'll do bread service today or tomorrow. My guys have been doing a bit of begging. @93boomer sending pixie dust for you and yours.

After a very sad day yesterday, I wanted some comfort food, and for me meatloaf on the grill is about as comfort food as I can get.
This one was 80/20 beef, chopped onions, chopped roasted red peppers, panko bread crumbs, 1/4 cup milk, two eggs, 1/4 cup Heinz 57, 1/4 cup salsa, some ketchup and black pepper. Topped it with a light dusting of Weber Carne Asada rub and cooked this one directly in the pan instead of on the rack over the drip pan. No smoke wood, but a handful of pecan or apple chips would have only added to the goodness. Toward the end I put on a glaze of Heinz 56 and honey.
This was very good, very moist and had a nice smoke ring too. Cooked indirect at 350 to internal temp of 160.
Won't lose much weight eating like this, but I guess I have more incentive to walk more.
