If both your boarding passes have Pre Check you BOTH can use the Pre Check line (as a matter of fact at the ATL airport you MUST use Pre Check if it is on your boarding pass.)
My husband has TSA Pre Check and whenever I fly with him I also receive Pre Check. And when my daughter and I flew Southwest last month we both received Pre Check, even though neither of us has it officially.
Relax, you and your son will be fine.
It's weird, because I was once reprimanded by a TSA agent for bringing my son in the pre-check line. So to avoid further public humiliation, I started using the regular line. He never shows up as pre check, only my husband and I do.
Anyway, we got through and it was much less stressful for him. He has his interview next month, so this won't be an issue for us much longer.
