Yes!! I've always seen this thread but was totally intimidated by its length haha. Hi everyone!!!
Welcome. I am the resident grumpy old fart. I post lots of photos, mostly of food. I like to grill and will post grilling photos often and when I am not grilling, I post other random stuff. I am more into eating better than exercising, but try to do both. My wife made dinner tonight, but I took a photo of it anyway. Meatless Monday on Friday: Fried squash, corn, macaroni salad, tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, sweet potato and sauteed cabbage.

Hello-

I am in with a You Tube video. It was a bit boring, but I am done for the day. I was going to cook a sweet chili tofu stir fry tonight, but I got lazy and bought some classy supermarket sushi. :p

I can't believe how quickly the summer is going by. I still haven't been in my pool. My new house doesn't have a pool and I am okay with that. My son is no longer interested and I am the one maintaining it.

I am going to the Art Institute on Sunday. I am looking forward to that. The Taste of Chicago is on, too, and it's in the park next to the Art Institute. So, I will most likely saunter over there to sample some eats.:hungry:

Enjoy Chicago while you still can! How's the packing going? Have you done any for the move or Disney yet?

Good morning thanks to the magic of illegal fireworks I got blasted out of bed in the middle of the night:mad::mad::mad: Seeing my guys all slept though it i did 5 fast Leslie Sansone miles and the plank challenge. I've got quinoa, buckwheat and mixed berries in my rice cooker for breakfast. The guys can nuke it when I get them up. On a happier note it's farm market Saturday I'll start there and figure out the week's menus depending on what they've got. from there it's on to the can can sale to stock up canned tomatoes and cleaning products. Nap to follow. unless the skies clear and then it's pool time and very early to bed. Have a magical weekend.

I like Tex-Mex more than my wife, so we leave out the peppers and hot sauce on hers.

Your meals sound like ours! ;) Hubby loves his fire food--anything hot, spicy, etc., and I'm just the opposite--mild Mexican dishes only.

The taco stuff was hamburger initially seared on the grill then crumbled and finished with peppers and onions and taco seasoning in a cast iron pan, again on the grill. Getting the smoky, char-grilled flavor in the taco meat just makes it even tastier

That sounds very good. When it comes to ground up meat, I haven't ever used the grill. For tacos, I just cook the meat on the stove in a frying pan. Also, have you tried bison instead of regular, ground beef? We use bison 90% of the time, instead of ground beef. It's leaner and tastes about the same. I like it for tacos in particular, because you add the taco flavoring packet with water and it keeps it moist and tasty. The only thing I wouldn't use bison for would be a burger, as I far prefer a 75% ratio that I can get on ground beef for those. I like some fat when grilling up burgers, so they don't dry out.

My dh seems to have the temperature and timing figured out for bison burgers on the grill. It seems to be an art form to do that, I'll stick to veggie burgers or Portabella burgers thank you:D

I come from bison country...I could look out my bedroom window growing up and see the Duram Buffalo ranch. Every year there was a celebration of our town and there was always a town cookout where they made bison burgers, and they made brisket. All the meat was donated by local cattle and bison ranches. Now there's a hotel with a steakhouse in town and they also use local meat, and it is GOOD. They do bison burgers, too, but I've never had one of theirs.

Enjoy Chicago while you still can! How's the packing going? Have you done any for the move or Disney yet?

I haven't done any packing for my Disney trip, because I am flying to NJ next Friday. We're going for 10 days. When we go to WDW, my husband is flying from Philly and my son and me are flying from Chicago. Then we all fly back to Chicago. The day after we get back from WDW, the movers show up and pack up our belongings. It is estimated it will take three days! :jawdrop:

It is crazy, this is the second summer in row I am planning/doing a big move. Except last summer, my husband's former employer paid for us to fly business class from London. LOL

I thought I was going to have to drive my car to NJ, but I found company that will ship it for much less than I expected. That is one less thing I have to worry about.

Does anyone else have people who try to sell products on FB? I got invited to a "online party" to buy clothes. WTH? It's like an MLM thing. I looked into it and the company sends the consultant what they want to send. The consultant doesn't order her own inventory. Then she shows what she's selling and you have to wait until you see something you like and when you do, hope it's in your size. The first person who types in SOLD gets the item. It's all online, so I don't even get wine and nibbles out of it. :P I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't care for the style of the clothes, either.

I am just seeing more of this on FB and it's annoying.

At least when you get to your new home you have a couple of weeks to settle in before school starts. We'd most likely do the drive but then again we like the ride to Disney and the ride home only sort of stinks:confused:

What the what? I don't even like getting clothes on line except if it's a dupe of something I already own like my favorite jeans. There seems to be no standard sizing any more and I need to try things on:rolleyes:

Good morning, we did really well at the farm market (tomatoes, peppers, corn, squash, carrots, peas, eggs, chard, eggplant etc) not so well at the can can. My boys lucked out not having to carry much. I see some Ratatouille for dinner in my future:hungry::hungry::hungry: Today is an easy day just the plank and some walk jog segments. Our old camera died so seeing we're going to be out we're all going mall walking due to the yucky weather. At least we'll be walking

Yet another reason why I won't join Facebook.

Yes. The light is at the end of the tunnel with this nonsense. We once drove to WDW. We never did it again. It's not a very interesting drive down and then leaving WDW makes the drive back feel even longer.
