I am glad your hip is pain-free. That must be a relief with your upcoming WDW trip.

I have never been to Springfield despite living in Illinois most of my life. He had a really good time. My son has Asperger's Syndrome, so sometimes I worry about him on these types of trips. The school asked us if we wanted an aide to accompany him, but we declined this time. We want him to be more independent and he was fine.
My mom was born and raised in Illinois (Dundee) and most of my cousins are still there, so we went and visited every couple of years, but I'm pretty sure what we saw of the Lincoln stuff was in Kentucky. It's kind of vague, but I do remember a log cabin and it was a park, not in a city. I tried googling to see, and it looks more like the Kentucky site, so that must be it. Or I suppose it could have been Creek Farm...or the homestead. Now I'm more confused than ever. Thanks, Google! LOL Well...I know I've been SOMEWHERE connected with Lincoln's history. I've been to the memorial in DC, too, but that was much much later. Now I really want to know where I was though!!

Good morning and BRRRRR. I'm glad it's not an outside walking day for me!!!!! @MinnieM123 are you going to try and get out and enjoy this brisk air, it may be the last for a while. Except for day 6 of yoga(6 pack abs and on my rest day LOL) and maybe some yoga for relaxation I'm taking it easy today.:joyfull: I have some leftover cooked veggies that I'll be eating today. Time to clean out the fridge this morning and refill it after lunch. Sausage is on sale and my dh wants some so I'm going to poke it and par boil to get ride of some of the fat and then bake it with peppers and onions.

@epcotisbest , been missing your delicious food (and other) pictures lately. Hope your camera didn't break, because I really look forward to those! The food pix inspire me to choose better options. (Although, Rome wasn't built in a day. I did have Cocoa Puffs and milk for breakfast this morning! ;) )

Hope everything else is going well, too, and you're enjoying the spring.
Thank you. Got back from the trip and been quite busy. Had a nice trip and sold the truck.
Here is last night's dinner. Grilled chicken thighs topped with bacon, served with sauteed mushrooms, cheesy potatoes and carrot and raisin salad. Notice I am working harder at portion size. I have been eating better but eating too much, so the weight loss is not happening but the lower carb effort is helping with my sugar numbers. A1C is down significantly...weight is not down.

*knock on wood* So far, though I do feel it after I've been quite active. DD and I walked quite a bit yesterday and I could feel a sort of catch by the end of it, but it didn't really hurt, per se. It's getting better with time. How about yours? Was it just the one day that it bothered you or are you still having troubles?

And I would LOVE another road trip. If we had more time this summer, I'd say we should drive from Orlando to Wyoming and back, but it would severely limit the time I would have with my dad. So maybe next trip we can do a road trip. We ARE going to be doing a sort of mini-road trip into South Dakota to show the kids all the sites. But it's only about 3 hours away from my home town...but we'll be spending several days there so I'll get my road trip fix, I suppose! I wish I could show the kids EVERYTHING...I want to take them to Yellowstone, and Cody, and Independence Rock...I want to take them to all the Forts...Fort Washakie and Fort Laramie, Fort Casper, Fort Fetterman....and I'd like to take them up further into South Dakota to the Badlands and Wall Drug, maybe the Corn Palace. But there just isn't time to do everything, and as they are completely unused to spending that kind of time on the road, I think we'll have to limit it to just the long weekend in the Black Hills. Maybe someday, though!!

Is it really cold there, then? We got hail today, and lots of heavy rain and it's supposed to snow tonight. :(

Oh no. I know you are replying to figgy, but just thought I would chime in. Weather sounds awful for this time of the year. It was in the 80s here for several days. Today is a bright blue sky and mid 70s. One of those chamber of commerce days. Hope your weather improves and spring and summer arrives for you soon.

Oh wow....we haven't even broken 65 yet this year, and that only 1 time. But then, the Netherlands never does get the summers that we used to get in the US. Here, if it reaches the low 90s that's a lot, and usually we get about 3 weeks worth of nice days, generally interspersed throughout June, July, and August and usually not more than about 2 or 3 days in a row. I miss SUMMER. But, since we'll be in the US for 5 weeks this summer, we'll actually have a real summer, so I'm looking forward to it!!

Well that sounds like a nice long visit. The truth is, while it is ideal here in the south today, in just a month or two I will be complaining about how very hot and humid it is, so our perfect weather is only around for a month or three in the spring and fall. We do have four very distinct seasons though and I am grateful for that.

@epcotisbest , yea, you're back in town!! :joyfull: I like all your pictures.

The food looks so delicious, but I think maybe your portions look just a bit small for you. We don't want you to go hungry. ;)

The flowers are gorgeous, and OMG-- the Japanese Maple is so lovely.

Glad to hear that you're happy about the sale of your truck. That is quite a truck by the way!!

We are fortunate to have a property that has lots of spring blooms. There are some more coming in right now that I'll of course take some more photos of.
Part of my problem is I just eat too much. So, I have to cut back. Calories are still calories, low carb or not, and I am just consuming too many calories and not burning enough calories.
I will mention a small victory over temptation this evening. My wife is out of town on a business trip. Took her to the airport this morning. I hate driving in Atlanta and the airport is just a pain to get in and out of. And traffic was light being it was Sunday morning. Gotta pick her up and head back through that awful traffic during rush hour traffic later this week. Dreading that.
Anyway, the small victory. I thought very hard about getting pizza this evening. I could pig out and no one would know. Well, I would know, so instead, I had a piece of leftover chicken and some oven-roasted veggies and drizzled it all with hot sauce. Very tasty and filling. Not as tasty and filling as pizza, but if I had pizza I would not be feeling very good about it.
