working out for Disney

Sold our camper today. Kinda mixed feeling about it. I really enjoyed it, my wife did not and it was a source of friction between us. Did not lose any money on it and sold it for what I had in it, so basically used it for a couple of years for free, and I suppose that is OK.
We would hike at several state parks that we would camp at, so it sorta helped in working out, as there is not a lot of excuses to be made for not working out when you are right there where the hiking trails are.
Yes, we can, and will still just take day trips to hiking trails, waterfalls etc..., but I have been camping all my life. Will be weird not making any camping plans for this summer. We already have reservations at Elkmont in the Smokies, and a couple of Georgia state parks that I will need to cancel now.
May keep the Elkmont reservation and just enjoy it for one night maybe in a tent because that is during the time of the synchronous fireflies.
What the heck are synchronous fireflies and why do we go see them?

Hello-
I am in with a lower body workout that used a therapy ball. I think of all the workouts I have done on this streaming site, this was my least favorite. I think I am "too long" for a therapy ball. I kept having to reposition myself on it when i was lying horizontally on it. So, I won't do this one again. LOL

Anyway, we booked a room only reservation at the Boardwalk for early August. I don't know where we will be, but it's easy to back out of a room only reservation, if we have to. I am trying to get excited, but I am "meh."
I hope to see you down there! Sending some pixie dust all works out!

Breaking even and a happy dw = win win. How about getting a nice hotel room instead of camping at those locations. My dh is planning on some camping time with the boys next summer and I'm planning on camping out in a nice quiet hotel:inlove:

Good morning 5 fat burning miles and Energize with Yoga (lots of sun salutations) I think my body likes doing yoga more often while I'm freezing LOL It's a chocolate berry smoothie, a large Italian salad and left over chili today. I hid some chili from my boys. Seeing it's cold I'm baking some pork chops, fish, potatoes and root veggies so I don't have to run the oven again for a few days.

The world is divided into two groups: those that enjoy camping, and those that don't. I think part of the main clue about your love of camping had to do with you being brought up with it. People who have never camped and have just used hotels for example, may find camping a bit too rustic. There's no right or wrong way to spend a vacation, but people have different definitions of relaxation.

Life often presents compromises, and I think you did very well to get your investment back from the camper, while your wife will be happier that the two of you will be staying in hotels down the road. Another thought (for you) is that maybe sometime you could go camping with a friend for just a few days (of course, he'd have to have a camper or a tent you both could use), and then you wouldn't feel deprived of camping. You could enjoy hotels with your wife for some vacations, and a little camping with one of your buddies for other vacations, once in a while. :)

P.S.: The synchronized fireflies are cool !!.

Lucky you! I hope you and your dw have a wonderful Time!
Actually, she is not going. It is sorta a combination business/hobby trip. Barrett-Jackson is a collector car auction and I'm going down to sell a 1956 Ford F100. Had it shined, detailed and waxed yesterday and the auto transport company is picking it up today. Barrett-Jackson is a no reserve auction so you have no idea how the bidding will go. Yeah, real first world problem there I know.

We usually take short, weekend trips camping as where we live we are within about an hour or two drive from several nice state parks and many other private campgrounds, lakes etc...so many choices. Yes, plenty more hotels than campgrounds, just not the same. For me camping is an all around great experience, nature, cooking outdoors, fellowship, escape from the real world...bugs, dirt and rain too. Oh well, just have to come up with something else to occupy those weekends. Maybe I'll take up scrap booking...nah.

Thanks. Yes, the synchronized fireflies are an amazing sight to see. We usually take week-long vacations and short weekend camping trips, but as I mentioned to Figgy, maybe scrapbooking or perhaps crochet or something can occupy my time! :banghead:

Well, I have thrown some out simply because I did not think they would freeze and keep well...not sure why I thought that, and I hate wasting food.
They don't keep well forever but I have gotten about 2 weeks with no harm in a regular freezer zip lock. One time avacados were on sale really cheap and I put a bunch in ziplocks froze them and the took them out and vac sealed them they kept over a month. Might have lasted longer but we ate all of them

I'm afraid that I am living proof that isn't the case. I was brought up camping and I hate it. I hate it so much that even thinking about it makes me want to break something. I've never been sure why I would spend that kind of money to live like a homeless person. Bugs, critters, and rain are the biggest obstacles to enjoying camping, but, certainly not the only thing. Anyway, you may have been able to surmise that I am not a fan of it. For those that do.. well, OK, I guess it's alright for you, but, I'm with his wife on this one.:)

No iron man for me. I am training for the National Old Lazy Guys Sitting in Recliners trials though. And often while camping I have wished we were at the mall instead so that just might work! :joyfull:
You're going to be in training for quite some time as my dh and father in law will win the gold and silver in the recliner competition. They've both been know to fall asleep in them only to have to be woken up the next morning to go to work:eek::arghh::bawling::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
