I didn't work out yesterday, my hip was a bit cranky. I am beginning the think, from Googling around, I have hip impingement. -_- I read up on it, but I stopped. It was a bit too depressing. I have always been very active my whole life and I am rewarded with cartilage issues. Boo.

And, yesterday my husband was offered a job at the OCC. This is literally, the only offer he has had since he's been applying for jobs in August. We have two locations to choose from Pittsburg and southern New Jersey (suburban Philadelphia) I am really tired of moving and I have never been to either to place. I know I should be happy, but I am not.
Sorry about the hip but congrats on the offer! I actually like south Joisey. If you're just outside PHL you're a day trip to the shore or Baltimore. Philly has some great museums and a nice zoo. On the whole Jersey has good schools especially for kids needing an IEP. Good luck

OK, I am still on a plateau and have not lost any weight in awhile but am still eating better and walking more. I find that frustrating as I like to see measurable results.
In addition to the exercise, I have mentioned many times about eating better, watching the carbs and calories thing and often boring y'all with my food photos.
So here is an observation...eating differently changes your body and your taste as well. It took awhile, but I no longer constantly crave sweets or potato chips. Another thing, and this is a biggie...having cut way, way back on processed, refined foods and eating more fresh veggies and yes, even some raw, and I do some smoothies occasionally, I just tried a processed protein snack bar. Not really important about the brand, but the big thing to me is it tasted like it was just full of chemicals. I could just be imagining things, but either way, instead of being satisfying and tasty, it was nasty and I felt like I could just tell there was a bunch of stuff in there that was far, far from natural or healthy. One bite was more than enough. Threw the rest of the bar away and will give away the rest of the box at the office so they at least don't go to waste.
Don't stop the food photo's, I love seeing what you are having, and it gives me ideas for my meals.

I'm sorry about your hip, can you get help for this? I'm not familiar with this issue. I hope you can find a Dr, if that's possible. I'm glad your hubby got a job offer. Sorry about moving, I've moved over 30 times, and I hate even thinking about it.

I am waiting for my husband to get a job, so I can see a physical therapist. :)

Thirty times is...ugh. I moved to London for my husband's job in December 14, then they restructured is department and sent us back home in August. I'd just barely gotten settled. It was just ironic, because on the same day they let him go, I started applying for social work jobs in London. My career never advances, only his does. :(

Paging @figmentfan423 , our resident health guru here. What do you know about yogurt? Specifically, a discussion came up yesterday about "pasteurized" yogurt -- is it good or bad? I always buy the cheapest yogurt at the supermarket (I usually only eat the plain, unflavored ones), and it says pasteurized on the container. Normally, this would mean absolutely nothing to me, but there seems to be some question out there about avoiding pasteurized yogurt? I've been eating it for years, but is it not as good as unpasteurized?

Good morning. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Pasteurized means it's been heated and all the bugs have been killed off even the good ones, good bugs are the reason you should eat yogurt. The best choice for yogurt is homemade as you control everything that goes in it. It's very easy to make bring the "milk" dairy or not to a boil let cool to about 108 degrees stir in yogurt starter and put in a yogurt maker to ferment (make the good bugs happy) for 4 to 8 hours depending on how thick you like it. Next best is organic with live cultures. Unless it says live cultures you're getting milk with stuff in it. I hope this helps a bit.

Why am I not surprised that you make your own?!! :D :joyfull: But for a non-cook like myself, I could look for something labelled organic. The container I have says in this order: cultured pasteurized skim milk, live active cultures: S. thermophilus, L. Bulgaricus, L. Acidophilus, Bifidus, L. Casei. So it still does appear that it has the stuff we're looking for, right? I mean, if the pasteurizing kills off some stuff, it looks like they add the "good" stuff back in, correct?

If the ingredients are listed in that order most likely you're good to go. To know for sure, take a cup of warm milk (warm room temp) put in a few tablespoons of yogurt and check it in a few hours for bubbles. BTW if you can boil water you can make yogurt. There are yogurt makers that ferment in individual cups so you can grab and go. With my mob I make 1/2 gallon of yogurt at a time.

OK, I am still in. I haven't been doing my streaming work outs, but I have been walking a lot. I haven't been sleeping too well, so I am just so tired in the day. I don't feel like I have the energy to do my typical workouts, so walking will have to suffice for now. I think I'm just stressed about this job thing. LOL

I can relate to the stress. I have been stressing over some health issues and a monetary issue as well. Losing sleep is tough and stress does affect you both mentally and physically. Hope the job thing works out well for your hubby and you.

Since no one seemed to complain about my cooking photos, I am going to share tonight's cook. I sent these pics to my brother and he sent me back photos of a big ole steak he made, so I am a meatloaf guy, he is a steak guy. Ground beef on sale today for $2.99 per pound, vs. the $10.99 per pound for his steak. We were both full following dinner, I was, and am, much thriftier. I love meatloaf on the grill. So smokey, juicy, flavorful.
