Tonight I'm making salmon cakes for the carnivores. I like easy dinners. I debone canned salmon and toss with chopped celery an onions toss in a bit of old bay, black pepper and dill weed I use ground flax seed as the binder (If I was making these mostly for my dh I'd use egg whites lower in calories) and bake 350 about 35 minutes flipping half way through. I'm serving with green salad, asparagus and baked potatoes

So I emailed a friend about how my walking is increasing with the warming weather. His response (and I don't know where he copied these from) makes me think he is probably not a walker.

Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old
to spend an additional 5 months in a nursinghome at $7000 per month.

My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60. Now he's 87 years old and we don't know where the heck he is.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

I joined a health club last year, spent about $400. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there.

I haven't, no. My husband is unemployed right now and I don't want to rack up medical bills if I can help it. I can walk without pain, it's just doing things like rotating my hip out ward and trying to sit in "Indian-style/ criss-cross" that is challenging. I took four days off and it seems like it's calmed down.

An injection in your hip. What was that like? Ouch. I hope your three weeks of rest goes by quickly. I hate not being able to work out, it helps me relieve some anxiety.
Yeah, that hurts for me, too...I can't sit indian style right now. But walking was sometimes excruciating. Sometimes I'd be fine and others I could barely hobble along. Stairs...horrible. But the last couple of days have been fine. Granted I'm taking it really easily, but as our washer is not working yet, I've been taking our laundry to my in-laws' every weekend and their laundry setup is in the attic, so every time I needed to switch loads, I had to climb 2 sets of stairs. This weekend wasn't nearly as painful, so it seems the shot helps.
I was dreading the shot but it turned out to be NOTHING. I am about the biggest wuss on the planet, and I hate hate hate needles. But if he hadn't counted down, I might not have even noticed at first that the needle had already gone in. There was the slightest of pinches and that was it. The worst part was him probing to find the spot...he had to get it into the infected spot, so he had to feel around for the swollen bubble and the worst part was when he pressed down on that spot. That was much more painful than the actual injection. But I had reasoned in my mind before hand, a shot will be a few seconds of pain...I've had pain for 6 months. It couldn't be any worse than that pain, right? I hope you feel better soon. I hate not being able to work out, too.

Hello
I went back to my work outs after a four day rest and I am glad I did. My hip wasn't so cranky during my workout and it seemed like a little bit of my range of motion was back. :)

I have to cancel our Mediterranean cruise. :( I'm so bummed right now. Oh, well.
I'm glad the hip was less cranky, but be careful!! And what a bummer about the cruise! I've never been on a cruise before, having motion sickness and a picky eater. I'd be terrified that I wouldn't like the food and I'd be stuck in the middle of the ocean with nowhere to find an alternative. But I'd be really upset having to cancel a vacation too.

So then what do the herbivores eat?

I think you will have a cruise in your future. It may not be when you had planned it originally, but I have faith that you will get to enjoy a cruise down the road. Hang in there; better days will be ahead, I promise you.

Thanks. We booked it thinking we'd be living in England again, since it departs from Dover. Disney does Med cruises every year, so there is always next year. I was just bummed last night. I'm ok with it now. :)

I had to edit this. I started responding to Songbird and I got caught up in something else in the house. Sorry!

Tonight was leftover meatloaf and a salad. For the meatloaf, I sauteed some freshly sliced mushrooms, diced tomatoes and minced garlic in a little olive oil, topped the meatloaf with a slice of cheese then with the mushrooms, tomato and garlic concoction and heated it in the toaster oven, then served it with a nice, simple salad. Low carb and high flavor.
Made my wife a baked sweet potato to go with hers. Pretty good for leftovers.

Since I believe strongly in using leftovers, here is breakfast this morning too. Leftover meatloaf topped with hot sauce and served with scrambled eggs. We try hard to not let things go to waste here at our house. Tomorrow my wife has already requested a cold meatloaf sandwich for lunch. Are you tired of my grilled meatloaf yet?

That sounds really good, well except for the asparagus part. Much more creative than me just warming up leftovers. Is the ground flax seed similar to the almond meal in its uses or does it have a more specific purpose as a binder?

I use ground flax seed mostly as a binder because it's loaded with Omega 3s. It' doesn't make a good coating. BTW I wish I had more left overs!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today I'm making baked fish and you guessed it coated in almond meal
