We can't get good fresh vegetables, this time of year....I live around the Denver area, and the veggies are trucked in over the mountains. By the time they get to the store, they look really sad. The point of this story, is to say...I found some really good frozen vegetable mixes from King Soopers, or Kroger, their brand. One has broccoli, red peppers, mushrooms, green beans, onions, and carrots. They had a sale last week and I got 10 packages for 10.00$. Each package has 4 to six servings. One of the other varieties, has similar vegetables, with chick peas and white beans included...a complete meal. So I'm set to stay on this eating pattern for many days. I do supplement with a Nutri system bar , one each day. Since New Years, I'm down 1 1/2 pounds. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I'm so glad that the scale is not my enemy anymore. Thanks, @figmentfan 423 for inviting me back.
Don't discount being down one and a half pounds. You say it does not sound like much, but every journey starts out with small steps. Wish I could take credit for that quote, but just heard it somewhere. Denver is a beautiful place. We recently flew in to Denver then drove to Breckenridge. Stopped and explored Red Rocks on the way. Also went to Estes Park and several other areas. Beautiful area.
We don't have a Kroger near us, but there is one about 20 miles away and when we are down that way we like to stop in and shop their specials. Some good deals can be had. Same for Aldi, not one close but there are two in the same town as the Kroger. Sometimes when we know we are going to be in that area we put the cooler in the trunk just in case there are any good refrigerated or frozen specials too.

Yeah, I like bread a lot and giving it up was difficult, but I still have just a little ever now and then. For me one of the hardest things to give up was potato chips. I love them and used to eat them about every day. No more. I especially like kettle chips...such crunchy, salty treats. I have not really found a good substitute, but pork rinds do give me some crunch with no carbs. Thanks for the idea about just drizzling veggies with olive oil. Might give that a try.
Your welcome. I love to talk food, and eat it too!:hungry:

Colorado is a beautiful state. We just get too much snow. Not a fan of the cold.

My son in law was born and raised in Colorado Springs. His first visit to Vermont left him almost like he was in a dream like coma. He had never seen that much snow or that much cold and it didn't just go away after a few days. Colorado Springs is in the "high desert" but, with that much elevation you would think it would be colder and snowier then what it actually was. It is a beautiful area when the mountains are not covered in white.
Colorado Springs itself is over 3000 feet higher than any spot in Vermont, including the highest peak. Personally, I remember when I was stationed in Denver. 30 degrees there felt like 30 below in Vermont.

I hate to admit it. But I gained 15 pounds from Halloween to New Years. Now, I'm facing the fact that bread and I don't get along. Bread is my favorite weakness. So, I'm back on lots of vegetables too. I actually love them. I sauté them in water, and put a little olive oil on after they are cooked, I can use much less oil, and still get the taste.

I get such a baking itch in September into October. I crave bread and I honestly think it's the reduction in daylight. I think it's my brain's way of keeping up serotonin production when the days are shorter. Anyway, I feel better when I lay off the bread, but it's such a vicious cycle.

Good morning Just LS's 5 advanced miles again. It looks like I'll be allowed outside to walk on Monday when the cold weather moves in:hilarious::cautious::banghead::bawling: At least I'll be allowed to go shopping this weekend. I'm pretty sure I was allowed to get my steps in if I promised to behave the rest of the time only because my doc knows me and knew if I could do nothing I'd try and do everything LOL

Thanks. I'm going to look at this. I like the idea of creating my own flavored yogurts without all of the sugar of the supermarket brands.
I saw something on the internet about doing it in a crock pot on the keep warm setting. I was going to try that until I saw what my boys got. I would try that first before spending extra money. Now if only i could remember where I saw it:facepalm::banghead:

I do have SAD and I go through the same thing every fall. I crave bread and pasta and rice. Usually I only gain 5 pounds, but this year it's been really snowy and cold, so that upped my want for bread.:hungry:

I've never had the urge to exercise. I rode 30 minutes yesterday, with no knee issues. Still going to take it easy though.

Thanks for the information, I'm going to look up crock pot recipes for yogurt making.
