working out for Disney

Hello-

I didn't check in yesterday, but I did work out! :) I did Fire 30+Stretch 10. Today I have a work out called "Fire 55 EZ." I am going to see how long I last with this program. LOL

Also, my husband found this really great job in London and he applied for it this morning. Any positive thoughts for this to happen would be appreciated. :)
Prayers and good luck to your husband. Job hunting can be very stressful.

One more thing...I weighed for the first time since before Christmas. I am down to a 38 inch waist pants from my previous 40 and 42s. I noticed the 38s are now feeling a bit loose. OK, maybe just less snug, but anyway...215lbs down from 218 before the holidays. So a little victory over the temptations of all that turkey, dressing, ham, gravy covered dressing and potatoes, ridiculous amounts of desserts etc...
Have been eating lots of citrus and apples as snacks, and except for all the natural sugar in fruits, I really am enjoying more fruit.
Also got some YETI ramblers, a couple of 30oz and one 20oz for Christmas. Love them. The 30oz I use for cold drinks, and the 20oz for coffee. I love, love, love them. They keep drinks cold for hours and hours and the big one holds ice all night and into the next day. The 20oz keep coffee warm for about four or five hours, but unless I forget it or get too busy, my coffee never lasts for that long.

I'm back, and back on my bike. I did 30 minutes yesterday. Doing a lot of packing and cleaning to donate today. This is my New Year's habit. Get rid of old, things that don't work in my daily living. And most importantly, getting rid of one kitchen tool. A mandolin. It's not good for finger's!:happy:
We too did a bit of cleaning out the closet and donating items we don't use. Lots more room in the closet now, but my wife pointed out that could indicate there was room for new stuff. I pointed out a couple of things we donated still had tags on them and had never been worn. She said sometimes things are more appealing in the store than in the closet. I can't win.

I agree with your sentiment above to @epcotisbest !! I had put on 4 pounds since Thanksgiving. One pound mysteriously dropped this morning, so I'm up 3 now, and epcotisbest is down 3. Figgy, did you gain an ounce over the holidays? You're always working out, so I doubt it.

Also, to avoid facing the scale and the inevitable holiday pounds, I purposely did not replace the lithium battery in my digital scale (it died before Thanksgiving), until just yesterday. ( :p ) Geez, I miss my old spring-style scale, because you could adjust the weight number (supposed to be set to zero) before you stepped on it, with a circular gizmo. (Around the holidays, I used to "adjust" it from zero, to negative 5 to start . . . :hilarious: :D )

Thanks for the encouragement, it means a lot. Your extra three will be gone before you know it. Figgy is an exercise fanatic, as is @Sans Souci Both are much more dedicated than I will ever be, but I try to make up for it by eating well. Luckily, and something that drives my wife crazy, if I cut down on the carbs, I can lose weight slowly and steadily without really counting calories or through deprivation. Dieting does not really work for me, but if I stay full of healthier stuff, the pounds slowly go away. I do drink lots of water too.
Oh, your idea of adjusting the scales...sneaky.

Thanks for asking. No I didn't I've been the same weight give or take the 2 you're supposed to give for things like water retention for about 2 years now.

If that's the case you may want to look into doctor Oz' skip a day diet. I saw the show Monday and it looks like it might be right up your alley. You get unlimited low starch veggies, 6 ounces of protein, 7 ounces 2% greek yogurt or egg, 1 serving of fruit, 2 ounces of nuts, 1tbsp almond butter, up to 2 servings of healthy fat (1/4 avacado, 1 tbsp olive oil, olives) and 2 servings of healthy carbs. You also get one day a week off so you don't feel totally deprived. of course you may have to check with you doctor.

I hate to admit it. But I gained 15 pounds from Halloween to New Years. Now, I'm facing the fact that bread and I don't get along. Bread is my favorite weakness. So, I'm back on lots of vegetables too. I actually love them. I sauté them in water, and put a little olive oil on after they are cooked, I can use much less oil, and still get the taste.

We can't get good fresh vegetables, this time of year....I live around the Denver area, and the veggies are trucked in over the mountains. By the time they get to the store, they look really sad. The point of this story, is to say...I found some really good frozen vegetable mixes from King Soopers, or Kroger, their brand. One has broccoli, red peppers, mushrooms, green beans, onions, and carrots. They had a sale last week and I got 10 packages for 10.00$. Each package has 4 to six servings. One of the other varieties, has similar vegetables, with chick peas and white beans included...a complete meal. So I'm set to stay on this eating pattern for many days. I do supplement with a Nutri system bar , one each day. Since New Years, I'm down 1 1/2 pounds. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I'm so glad that the scale is not my enemy anymore. Thanks, @figmentfan 423 for inviting me back.

Yeah, I like bread a lot and giving it up was difficult, but I still have just a little ever now and then. For me one of the hardest things to give up was potato chips. I love them and used to eat them about every day. No more. I especially like kettle chips...such crunchy, salty treats. I have not really found a good substitute, but pork rinds do give me some crunch with no carbs. Thanks for the idea about just drizzling veggies with olive oil. Might give that a try.
