working out for Disney

OK--quick check in. I have been busy getting my house ready for my son's birthday party, which was today. Yesterday, I did a practice called, "Vitality."

Aaaaaand, I had plans to do my yoga today, after my son's party, but one of his friends invited himself to sleep over. So, two 14 year old boys hanging out together...are loud! I can't do yoga when it is so loud. Today was a 30 minute practice, which was just shoulder stitches, so it was nothing like the vigorous yoga I had been doing.

I will catch up with everyone tomorrow. :)

Hi all!
@figmentfan423 , you'd better not overdo it! Slow down! If you injure yourself, you won't be able to do much at all!
I went to the Centrum today to go shopping...I got a spiralizer thingy, thought they are expensive here!! 20 Euros! But, I can't put a price on getting healthy, right? So I got that, and I also bought some stevia at the health store. So...having never used it, I need some help. There are no instructions, but I'm pretty sure I was told it doesn't take much to equal a teaspoon of regular sugar, right? I bought a jar...about the size of a small bottle of vitamins and it cost 15 Euros, so it's expensive, but I'm assuming it will last a while. But, they had several different "kinds"...one had something called inulin in the ingredient list and I don't know what that is, but when I read the label, it said "Not intended for use by children" and also not to use if you were pregnant, breast feeding, on medication, or under the care of a physician, so I did not buy that one. That didn't seem safe. The one I got is apparently "pure" stevia...the others all have something else added. And this one has no warnings on it. So...how much do I use, in say...a bowl of yogurt with blueberries in it?

Then I looked at the bus schedule and I would have had to wait 40 minutes for the bus, so I walked home. I used my new pedometer...it's just a CHEAP one, so I don't know how accurate it is, but it said I walked 2752 steps...1.92 km...I think it was probably a bit more than that because I walked for nearly half an hour. And I walked through Centrum and all of that, so I have to have walked about 2 miles total...not bad.
Not bad at all!!!!!!!!!!!! For the stevia I'd start with just a pinch and go from there at that price I'm sure it's pretty pure and potent.

Morning all. @Songbird76 no need to worry as I'm taking today off except for doing day 4 of the 30 day plank challenge. I have some errands to run so today seems like a good day to take it easy. I take one day a week to just take it easy. It's not my favorite thing to do but it's probably smart. I'm going the salad and leftover curry route today.:hungry:

Sympathy like! I don't like working out when the kids are home. It becomes really difficult because I'll be in the middle of my workout and hear "Mom, I'm thiiiiiirsty!" when I've already warned them that this is mommy time, so if you need a snack or a drink or anything else, you'd better ask BEFORE mommy starts or you have to wait until it's over. My living room is small and when I'm doing kicks and punches, they'll suddenly decide they HAVE to get to the other side of the living room, so I'm always scared that I'm going to kick them. It's just not conducive to good workouts. At least it's only one night, right?

Please do give your body a rest. I was told to rest for one week after my hip injury...a month later and it's still not completely gone and I haven't been able to do intense workouts...I'm itching to get back to it. Trust me...it's much better to take one day off than hurting yourself and being out of commission for a month!
It's going to take some experimenting with the stevia. I just put some on the tip of my spoon handle, but that wasn't quite enough. It was edible, but not great. I imagine I need to get used to it, too. I'll get there. Tonight we're going to an all you can eat international restaurant that has a wok buffet, a tepan grill, a pasta station, sushi (which I won't eat) and a desert bar. I usually end up at the grill and the wok the most...lots of meat and veggies, low carb. We were going to go Friday after our day out, but it got too late, so I'm really looking forward to it!

My doctor has one. He recommended it to me. He needs to lose a lot of weight, way more than I need to, so he's sympathetic to my plight. I might think about it if I get some cash from my car accident settlement.

I was surprised how sedentary I was until I got one. Exercise has always been a fixture in my life, but even doing that daily, I was still sitting around a lot. I just made myself "deliberately inefficient" by doing things like bringing the laundry down load by load, so I would move more.

You can "friend" other people with Fitbits and compete with them on your leaderboard. It's a fun way to stay motivated.

Checking in with a practice called, "Cross Training." I feel pretty good and I feel like my flexibility is returning. I am missing cardio and traditional strength training, but I promised myself I would do a month of yoga and reassess my feelings. I have exercise ADHD. LOL

ETA: This is the practice I did, in case anyone is looking for a good power yoga practice.

I hear you. When I lived in London, our flat was 1100 sq ft. When you opened the front door, there was the living room, dining room and kitchen in the smallest of spaces--no foyer. I always had to workout when my son was at school and my husband was at work, otherwise, there was just no room to move around.

I ate some au gratin potatoes, but I stayed away from the rice and the pasta. I ate Kangaroo steak, sirloin, and lots of veggies. It was delicious! And my in-laws decided to come with us at the last minute, so it was lots of fun. They had never been there, so we got to introduce them and they loved it. Yay!
Sounds like you had a wonderful time YEA!

Today is LS's 5 advanced miles, I needed to get a lot done in an hour as it looks like I might have another busy day but I will do day 5 of the 30 day challenge today is 45 seconds. I have to run out and get a new scale as I'm pretty sure I didn't gain 65 pounds in a week LOL I'm hoping to find some almond butter as both stores I went to yesterday were out:hilarious::banghead: Did Dr. Oz or somebody else do a segment on the health benefits? Oh well life goes on. Now I have to figure out what I want in today's smoothie:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: My other goal try and be more organized on Monday Mornings. Have a great day! xoxo

Have you tried using Heinz "Organic" Ketchup? I had to look all over for a ketchup (about a year ago) without high fructose corn syrup. I found ONE under the Heinz label and it was the "Organic" one. They use regular sugar and it's low on the ingredients. If you just use a little, you might be able to go back to ketchup on some things that you like. Note: I had to really look around a few grocery stores to find it, but I was glad I found it. It's the only kind of ketchup I buy now. (I glanced at something online recently, about Heinz rethinking their high fructose corn syrup decision, into their regular ketchups, and considering going back to natural sugar, but I can't substantiate that at this point. I'd have to dig further into this.)

I'm far from a "foodie" but it bothers me when big companies throws cheaper chemicals into some of our foods. Had a similar issue a year ago with relish--most of them put high fructose in those, too. So I went on a hunting expedition for one that didn't, and found that Stonewall Kitchen (York, Maine) makes a really nice hot dog relish and uses some natural sugar. Because I'm in the Northeast, it's easy for me to get in my local store. I am not sure if it's available at all in your area, though.
thanks, I'll look for the Heinz organic. I do love ketchup!

You did great, I have a pedometer too. It helps with feeling achievement when you see how much you have walked. I'm going to get back out, and start using it again. Take it with you to Disney, you will be amazed how many miles you cover there.

Good luck finding the almond butter! I'm not familiar with it, but I bet if you googled "Health benefits of almond butter" you'd find what you're looking for.

I did!!! We didn't reserve because hubby was sure we'd get in no problem and to be fair, we've NEVER had a problem before and it's not usually that busy, but we invited my in-laws, who drove half an hour to come to the restaurant with us and it was PACKED. We only had to wait 15 minutes for a table though, so it wasn't bad, but I kind of felt like it was good practice for Disney!

Yeah I think that's a Europe thing...these countries are all so small that they have to fit too many houses into a small space to accommodate everyone. My best friend from growing up moved to Australia a couple of years ago and was scheduled to move to London in January. When they got to Australia, she complained about how small the house was. She sent me pictures and her house could have eaten my house for breakfast. I told her, if you think THAT'S small, wait till you get to London! But now the company her husband was working for was bought out and they won't pay for international moves, so she's not going to London anymore. Made me sad because then she'd be close enough for me to hop a plane once in a while to see her. But at least she doesn't have to live in a crackerjack box!
