I know this won't appeal to @figmentfan423 but I cook a lot on the grill, high protein, no carbs. Last night was boneless, skinless chicken thighs dusted with Dreamland rub and topped with bacon. Cooked indirect at 350 degrees to an internal temp of 170 degrees. The bacon kept it moist and juicy and I love bacon. I think a styrofoam cup wrapped in bacon would be tasty.
Anyway, we sliced the chicken and bacon and used it as a topper for a nice mixed greens and veggie salad and it made a very tasty, super low carb meal, with leftovers for a couple more meals.

Good morning for me it's going to be LS's 5 advanced miles as I need something quick as I have lots to do today. I'm going to a farm market to stock up on veggies. We've had our first freeze so it looks like I'm going to be going to both the Friday and Saturday ones until they close for the year right before Thanksgiving. Remember to fuel your body, hydrate and move it.
Love going to the farmer's market. Right now fresh apples are in abundance and I like to slice a nice Honeycrisp or Golden Delicious and dip it in crunchy peanut butter....yyuuuuummmm.

I get Mrs. Dash, but I'm kind of burn't out on it. I would love the recipe. Hubby needs to get rid of his addiction to salt.
I am guilty of that as well. I used to put salt on everything and it is a hard habit to break, but once you lose the taste for salt, it is easy to give up. I was one of those people who would go out to eat and put salt on stuff before I even tasted it. Used to get asked how did I know it needed salt without tasting it? Answer: "Because it is on my plate, that's how."

Oh, I love fruit, so that's good. But fruit does have a lot of sugar in it, but it's better than white sugar. I eat a lot of blueberries now, and I eat oranges, apples, pears, grapes, very few bananas because they seem to mess up my digestion...my dd and I do smoothies sometimes, too. One of the things I WISH I liked is cucumber. It's very healthy, and would be easy to take to work for a snack, but I don't like it. And red pepper and cherry tomatoes. My dd will eat those like they are candy. I wish I could!
I like fruit as well, I just have to make sure I only eat it in small quantities. I could eat a whole bag of seedless white grapes, but in moderation, even those they are loaded with natural sugar, i can eat a few at at time and no spike the blood sugar level too bad. Same with apples. Maybe one a day, just to keep the doctor away.

I was the same way. I used to put salt in my ketchup stir and dip fries in it. Yummy, I added pepper too. Now just pepper.

That looks wonderful. Hubby brought home a rotisserie chicken. I took all the white meat, without skin and shredded. Made really good pulled barbeque chicken. I had that with a salad as well.

Sorry, I am catching up on replies now...
It's crazy, but it seems counterintuitive. Back in July, I worked with a personal trainer and she told me to increase my fat and protein intake and just get carbs from fruit at breakfast and the veggies after that. I lost 6 lbs. that month. I ate only three times a day and wasn't hungry between meals. Unfortunately, we moved from London to the US after that and we a lot of take away while our stuff was shipped over. It's kind of hard to get back in that groove, so for now I am eating brown rice, instead of the enriched white, avoiding the refined stuff, etc...

It doesn't help that I am an avid baker and I always get the itch this time of year to bake. I am always baking bread and who can resist freshly baked bread with butter on it? :hungry::inlove:
I want to live at your house. Bread is my weakness.

I drink bottled water as the minerals out here are not great for stone producers. It helps me keep track of the water I drink. Each bottle is 16 ounces, 2 glasses. When I have 4 bottles, and one cup of coffee a day. I know I'm good. One more bottle now that I'm riding the bike. I rode one hour, plus added 5 minutes yesterday. Still no pain. Yea! I have a consultation appointment with the Doctor to go over my blood tests results. He will be so glad about the bike, he has recommended a recumbent for years. He has touchy knees, from all the jogging in his younger years.

Cutting back on carbs makes a huge difference for me. Your mileage may vary. I can eat eggs and cheese and bacon and things like that and loose weight. If I slip up, which I often do, and add in pancakes, waffles, biscuits, whatever the weight loss stops. I don't really understand the science, but being type2 diabetic, I have to watch the carbs anyway, but from personal experience, breads, pasta, potatoes, most any kind of refined carbs are problems for me.
Me too, I swear if I look at bread it will be two pounds more the next day.

Please read your ketchup bottle as some aren't too bad but some are sugar and salt bombs. I read one once and thought a candy bar would be healthier.

Thanks, I've given up ketchup and French fries. I have the best Doctor, as he is a Doctor of osteopath, and likes to go to less drugs, if possible. Or older ones that have proven they don't have long term effects. With high blood pressure , I do have to watch salt intake. Enough so I don't get dizzy and not too much. Life is a balancing act sometimes!

I also have hard water but buying water by the bottle would break me. I have refillable 5 gallon jugs. We have a whole house filter and it's filtered twice more before the kitchen sink but I grew up on city water and can't get used to well water:confused:

I actually don't like butter unless it is melted, so no buttered bread for me. But I'm a baker, too...for me it's cakes and things that are my downfall.

Well, today was not an off day. I walked two miles in 40 minutes. Tomorrow will definitely be an off day because now I am REALLY sore. But I saw that it was 65 degrees outside and sunny and couldn't resist.

Not sure what I will do Sunday as it is supposed to rain and I do not have a tredmill at home. Might try the stationary bike if it doesn't hurt my back and neck.

Way to go!!!!!!!!!! Might suggest one of Leslie Sansone's American Heart Association Get started walks there's a 1, 2, and 3 mile walk and they're all free on youtube. I have no coordination what so ever 5 or 6 left feet and I could figure it out eventually and like she says you can't do it wrong. Good luck

Good morning I'm just doing LS's 5 mile fat burning walk until after I know how I'm going to feel after moving a toilet, helping lay down a vinyl floor and putting the toilet back. Tonight for diner I'm makng a veggie dish even @epcotisbest and @MR FERRET would approve of my veggie curry (onions, cauliflower, carrots, celery, green squash, mushrooms, collard greens, lentils cumin, curry powder a bit of garlic, fresh ginger and a can of unsweetened coconut milk):hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry: served over brown rice for the boys I'm skipping the rice today. Have a great day and move it.

Have you tried using Heinz "Organic" Ketchup? I had to look all over for a ketchup (about a year ago) without high fructose corn syrup. I found ONE under the Heinz label and it was the "Organic" one. They use regular sugar and it's low on the ingredients. If you just use a little, you might be able to go back to ketchup on some things that you like. Note: I had to really look around a few grocery stores to find it, but I was glad I found it. It's the only kind of ketchup I buy now. (I glanced at something online recently, about Heinz rethinking their high fructose corn syrup decision, into their regular ketchups, and considering going back to natural sugar, but I can't substantiate that at this point. I'd have to dig further into this.)

I'm far from a "foodie" but it bothers me when big companies throws cheaper chemicals into some of our foods. Had a similar issue a year ago with relish--most of them put high fructose in those, too. So I went on a hunting expedition for one that didn't, and found that Stonewall Kitchen (York, Maine) makes a really nice hot dog relish and uses some natural sugar. Because I'm in the Northeast, it's easy for me to get in my local store. I am not sure if it's available at all in your area, though.

Hi all!
@figmentfan423 , you'd better not overdo it! Slow down! If you injure yourself, you won't be able to do much at all!
I went to the Centrum today to go shopping...I got a spiralizer thingy, thought they are expensive here!! 20 Euros! But, I can't put a price on getting healthy, right? So I got that, and I also bought some stevia at the health store. So...having never used it, I need some help. There are no instructions, but I'm pretty sure I was told it doesn't take much to equal a teaspoon of regular sugar, right? I bought a jar...about the size of a small bottle of vitamins and it cost 15 Euros, so it's expensive, but I'm assuming it will last a while. But, they had several different "kinds"...one had something called inulin in the ingredient list and I don't know what that is, but when I read the label, it said "Not intended for use by children" and also not to use if you were pregnant, breast feeding, on medication, or under the care of a physician, so I did not buy that one. That didn't seem safe. The one I got is apparently "pure" stevia...the others all have something else added. And this one has no warnings on it. So...how much do I use, in say...a bowl of yogurt with blueberries in it?

Then I looked at the bus schedule and I would have had to wait 40 minutes for the bus, so I walked home. I used my new pedometer...it's just a CHEAP one, so I don't know how accurate it is, but it said I walked 2752 steps...1.92 km...I think it was probably a bit more than that because I walked for nearly half an hour. And I walked through Centrum and all of that, so I have to have walked about 2 miles total...not bad.
