working out for Disney

Great ideas, I'll bet the slow cooker will work then. I'm slowly eating less meat, can't stand beef, I do like pork tenderloin, and bacon 1/2 slice once in a while. Mostly I like veggies, has anyone posted any recipes on here? I'm always up for new veggie recipes. No cheese , please. No lactose!:hungover::joyfull:
I like the Eat to Live cookbook for vegan options.

I'll put that on my list too. Is it much more expensive to go totally vegetarian? Veggies, other than frozen during the winter don't look very good in the winter. I live in Colorado, we do have a Sprouts and Wild Oats, which if any do you prefer?
I'm lucky I can get decent produce year round but will use frozen when needed. I save a ton by not buying much meat. More money for Disney:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: When I buy eggs I do spring for organic free range (I have a local farm) my dh likes them better.

I need to drop more than "a few" pounds, unfortunately. I'm trying not to eat as many carbs, which are a weakness for me, and limit my sugar...I have a sweet tooth. I looked at Turbo fire, but it looks a bit intense for me. I have bad joints, so a lot of stuff I need to be very careful with. My best friend sent me the Turbo Jam DVD and it has a 20 minute workout that I do when I'm low on time, and otherwise I do the Cardio Party workout. There's also an Ab jam and something like Kicks and punches something, but I will have to be in much better shape before I can try those. The friend who sent it said she has to have the music pumped because she can't stand how perky Shalene is, but I need to be able to hear the whoops of encouragement...it keeps me going.

Mwah. I have tried to give away my Turbo Jam set, too, for exactly the same reason--Chalene is a bit much for me. I do pull them out from time to time. :)

I'm not a fan of hers either, she's a bit loud and so is the music. BTW I like the Who so I know loud music LOL

I have a set she put out last year, called "PiYo" and she is much more subdued in it. I think the Turbo Fire series is great, because it's a mix of intensities and lengths, but the music is not my taste. It's the cheese of the 90s. This one song comes on and the lyrics are, "Boom! I got your boyfriend/Boom! I got your man." People start shouting and going nuts, it's kind of funny. Another song that cracks me up goes, "I'm a bad girl, break me like the law." And who can forget that 90s classic, "Booty Call?" It's so cheesy, but it's hilarious. :hilarious:

I just wish she'd been more diverse with her music in Turbo Fire, because the music is a big reason why I rarely use my set. I mean, it's a solid set that uses minimal equipment that is great for travel, but yeah--the music.

How is the PiYo? That's one I'm thinking of springing for. Is it worth it and how many workouts does it include? THNX

That sounds like me! My blood sugar is fine so far, but I have a real weakness for breads and sweets. My hubby and I are both trying to cut down the carbs. Some things we've done is stir fry veggies instead of spaghetti noodles. We eat the sauce over the veggies. I still do a few noodles and eat my veggies on the side, but my plate is more full with veg than with pasta. Hubby eats his sauce over the veg. My mom did spaghetti squash instead of pasta, but I have yet to find spaghetti squash here, so I can't do that. I'll have to look at the market on Tuesday. But dh and I both love veggies...I don't know how you feel about them? Would that be an option for you?
Really fighting the sugar and it is high right now. Yes, love veggies and recently got one of these and enjoy making zucchini noodles. I put the pasta sauce right on it like spaghetti and it is pretty tasty. The gizmo makes the zucchini spirals kinda easy, but just found out Kitchenaid has a spiralizer attachment for the stand mixer, so we are going to order one of them.

One of my friends does zero carbs (I couldn't do it!) and one of the things she makes that is really great is meatza pizza. She slices a chicken breast into 3 slices and bakes them to use as crust. Then she blends tomatoes, parmesan cheese (I think), bacon and herbs to make sauce and then she piles on things like pepperoni, cheese, peppers, etc....basically anything that doesn't have carbs. She said she allows herself as much fat as she wants, just no carbs and she's lost over 100 lbs, so apparently what she's doing works for her.
That sounds good. Gotta try that.

Hi, Just to let everyone know. I have a back issue with three ruptured discs. So exercising for me has been difficult. Hubby did research on a recumbent bike. I got it yesterday, and rode for an hour. It's so smooth and not noisy . The best news though, is that my back didn't hurt at all this morning. And my knees don't either. This is better than sliced bread!:) Well, maybe not. But I'm sure encouraged. Doctor always said the key to weight loss and lower sugar numbers is to move. Just so you know, I don't work for a bike manufacturer.:D
Love my recumbent bike. In fact, we have two, a compact long wheelbase and a regular long wheelbase, which is very long and hard to transport. We have taken the recumbent with us to Disney. Here is a pic when we stayed at WL and rode all over WL and over to FW. We also rode at Saratoga Springs, and over to Old Key West. The problem I have with the recumbent is we live in the mountains and they do not climb well and it is hard to find bike paths here, have to go somewhere else to ride, or take them on trips with us, which can be a hassle. I have found that with my back issues (multiple surgeries) it can sometimes be jarring as well. Keep on riding. Hope you like your new recumbent!

Ok, so you do this at home or do you actually go out and walk in your neighborhood and measure 5 miles? I'm confused.
Sorry they're DVDs that you can do indoors. I like her 5 mile ones that take an hour. She also has slower and shorter ones. Several of her workouts can be found on youtube for free. I hate the cold so they're great in the winter or when it's raining cats and ferrets:confused:

I know I'm new on this thread, but if you have diabetes you need a balance of carbs (good ) and protein, and fat. With diabetes ( I had it adult onset, until I lost over 35 pounds over a couple years). I tried the original Atkins, and it made me very sick and my kidneys (I have stones), didn't work at all. I got very dizzy too. Now, I'm going the wrong way again, too much sugar and too much weight. I'm forced to change my behavior. My Doctor takes blood every six month's to make sure I'm doing the right things. I know it's very hard as I have low thyroid too. And the temptation is always out there, I would like to suggest that you alter your diet slowly. It will come off slowly, but better safe than sorry. Dr. said in the long run Atkins is bad on the kidneys. I hope I didn't say the wrong things. But, your health is most important. Right now, I'm cutting down on bad fats, and adding in good fats. Changing from bread to sautéed veggies. Let me know if I over spoke. I do know struggles, with weight and temptation. Good luck going forward!:)
