Wookies, & Rebels, & Droids... OH WHY?! The Anti-SWL in Disneyland Thread

I'm not sure I'd feel that way (or that anyone would actually). The fact is, you can still see other parts of the park within the realm of Adventureland, where the opposite (not seeing anything else) was such a major selling feature of GE. They don't WANT you to see any other part of the park for... reasons.

Adventureland's general theming fits in extremely well with the larger framework of the park and transition seamlessly into Frontierland and NOS respectively without the need for tunnels.

Huh? I can't see any other parts of the park while in Adventureland. Near the treehouse you can see NoS and Frontierland, but that's essentially leaving the land. Again, there's a lot of angst and worry fans seem to have as they look at Galaxy's Edge ON A MAP, but on the ground it's not a radical rethink of all of WDI's hard-earned design principles.

(If you want that, I direct you to the gate at the hub that leads directly to Shanghai's DisneyTown shopping district. Nothing says magic quite like being able to see the roof of a Cheesecake Factory while on Dumbo.)

You're not looking hard enough then :)

Point still is, GE doesn't even want you to think that you're in Disneyland which is a huge departure from the principles that exist everywhere else.

But it is. That’s why they have special Coke bottles, special name tags, weird made up sayings, changed the scale of the land to not coincide with the other lands, deliberately hide everything else, no Disneyland Railroad...

I go to Disneyland to be immersed in Disneyland. That’s all the immersion the park has to do.

And now Galaxy's Edge is a part of what Disneyland is. They've tossed a new ingredient into "the salad." It'll all even out with time. I give it six months before the DL-ification of GE ramps up.

That’s all I want, but I don’t think they’ll reduce the scale of the land anytime soon.

Once Disney realizes they can save boatloads of cash by not having specially designed Coke bottles manufactured, they'll just opt for the regular ones. Boom. Immersion destroyed!

Oh, my poor precious immersion! How will I ever actually believe I'm on another planet along with thousands of Californians now??? I want my horrible Coca Cola, but I don't want it to LOOK like my horrible Coca Cola!

I can't really have a firm opinion on it until I finally get around to going back to DLR a year or two from now. But, someone saying it "feels too different" wouldn't strike me as concerning feedback if I were a Disneyland suit.

I'd say there's a really good possibility the rest of Disneyland slowly "up-scales," instead. If most of Tomorrowland gets the bulldozer in the next five years, I would not expect new buildings to adhere to the 1955 scale. Fantasyland, probably even Main Street would eventually follow with time (maybe a long time, but still only time).

The La Brea bakery used to carry Cheerwine. Though you couldn't bring the glass bottle into the parks, there was nothing that beat walking down Main St. sipping an ice cold cup of deliciousness. Thanks for getting rid of it ya jerks!

I'm not a soda person, so I wish they'd sell the minute maid lemonade bottles a little more commonly on carts so I didn't have to keep running back to the two carts I know actually have it.

Uh what thread is this? Star Wars. Right. Umm....the only way I will be satisfied is with Minute Maid Lemonade bottles that say

The park is built in a specific scale to match the castle. I’ll be damned if they ever destroy SBC and rebuild it bigger. Disneyland isn’t a big park, it’s intimate. That’s part of its identity.
