Partially agreed, Horizons was destroyed due to outdated material, and a large sinkhole that had developed under the building. World of Motion, I'm just not sure.

WOL deserves better, hope for a nice retheming...

WoM was destroyed because attendance was lagging and GM demanded a new show and also paid for it.

History (in breif, and possible in the wrong order):

Spaceship got music, Land changed to Kraft, Motion went away, Energy got changed, Seacabs closed, Test Track opened, Spaceship got a new narration and ending, Horizons shut down, Imagination got made over - twice, SPACE opened, Wonders closed, Seas got a new show, Land got a new look and ride...

Very nice, and simple error - change Kraft to Nestle :p

<My interlude... Land lost a show, Spaceship lost a sponser and an exit activity room, Imageworks was photographed, Seacabs were photographed, River Countries demise was announced... Crush'n Gusher was built...drifting off topic...:brick: >

From what i can see they are not demolishing it. I went inside today and they were actually dusting off the top of the circus tents with a leaf blower. Also all the lights were on and blinking. From what i was told, it is used for special occasions (banquets and such). The only thing i saw down was the little section where they have the headphones. Im guessing they are working on those. Someone was also sweeping inside. Its pretty creepy with all the lights on and no one really around. But the good news is that i was told it is seasonal and be looking for it to open in the summer. So im guessing they are getting it ready for seasonal summer crowds. I also found this website which kinda backs up what i said.

I do believe that was the estimated time given to me. Please dont hold me accountable though. I understand this information is not reliable to most people and I would be hesitant myself if i heard it from someone else. But I do have a feeling we will be seeing it open during the summer. For how long? Its all speculation. I hate disney secrets.

I heard they had Glaxo lined up to take over sponsorship, but they didn't want to have to remake the signs every 2 months for the name changes. Or was it that Glaxo-Smith-Klein-Beecham-Welcomb-flavor-of-the-day just wouldn't fit on the signs in the first place?

(Yes, I made that up.)

Slightly more seriously... if they got a new sponsor, who would it be? I would think a pharmacutical company would have the most interest. I'd certainly hope that Disney could keep a tight rein on any product placements that might result... "Where's Timmy? Did he get lost in the Pfitzer(tm) Wonders of Viagra booth again!?!"

Happy Friday!

I was in WoL this past Easter Sunday. One of the few areas of the park that wasn't packed to the gills. In fact, it was pretty empty.

I'm glad I got to go, because I never spent much time in there, and most of THAT time had been waiting on line for Body Wars. But IMHO the pavilion is woefully out of date. I found it more retro than 8TRAX at Pleasure Island, but at least 8TRAX is supposed to be retro. The whole problem with Future World, just like Tomorrowland, is that you're constantly running the risk of seeming outdated. Disney solved a lot of the problems with Tomorrowland by trying to develop a "timeless" vision of the future, and it's what Future World needs as well. Watching Body Wars now was like watching I Love the 80s on VH1 (Oh my God! Is that Tim Matheson? What the Hell happened to HIM anyway?). Ditto with Cranium Command & The Making of Me. And I'm not just talking about the LOOK but the tone. The mentality behind it. It felt woefully behind the time.

On New Years Eve, by far the busiest day at Epcot, it was empty.

Sads to see but true, the pavilion is losing all that it ever was/had. We can only hope for a nice revival or retheming/no demolition...

Disney chefs do dry run for James Beard Foundation dinner at Wonders of Life pavilion

Last Friday night, the Disney Dining Experience hosted a private members–only dining event in the VIP Lounge of the Wonders of Life pavilion. The dinner was a test run for a group of Disney chefs who will be presenting to the James Beard Foundation in New York City on June 17. The “Flavors of Disney” dinner, presented by five Disney chefs and two Disney sommeliers, costs $100 for Beard Foundation members and $125 for guests. It will be held at the Beard House on West 12th Street. For more information, see the James Beard Foundation Web site (link).

This would explain the spucing up.

Cheers
