Will Disneyland USA suffer? ALL Of Disney's Theme Parks Now Closed - Reopening Dates Unknown

Colleges were anticipated to move classes online anyway in the next 10 years or so...because of the tremendous cost of labor combined with maintaining huge facilities...couple with declining government support of education for 30 years.

Just like retail...brick and mortal schools are dying

Many have some Infrastructure in place already and that’s why the moves of this week were so quick.

Just saw that Chapman University also announced today they are closing campus and going to online classes. So that means all colleges within a 20 mile radius of Disneyland are now closed indefinitely.

Tokyo Disneyland said two weeks ago they were closing for two weeks, but today they just extended the park closures for another three weeks.

It's interesting how you are able to make that distinction between shuttering schools and cancelling sporting events, but are still kind of okay with Disneyland being open to a random collection of 75,000+ people daily. Not that I'm criticizing that, I just wish more folks could also justify using that same logic to keep schools and public events open if Disneyland is okay to remain open.

The panic in public opinion seems to be growing on this, and it doesn't seem like Disney is going to be able to justify keeping their parks open much longer if it's now politically incorrect to keep schools open, host sporting events, tape TV game shows in front of a live studio audience, have an outdoor concert, etc., etc.

The way public opinion is going and changing by the day, I just don't know how you justify keeping Disneyland open if it's inherently dangerous for a college kid to go to his Poly Sci class.

I think they all just know there is no breaking the shrine power. Disney just can’t shut down because of my shrine. That’s air tight.

Which makes so much sense.

I look forward to the day when most work is done remotely. When school is online.

That actually might help the environment as well. Then you have buildings you can repurpose into homeless shelters.

Common sense solutions for problems that executives and politicians try to make seem difficult.

The NBA game between the Thunder and Jazz got postponed seconds before tip-off.

2 players from the Jazz were ruled out due to illness.

NBA commissioner expected to make a decision tomorrow to move forward with games played in empty arenas after a consensus among the Board of Governors about that plan.

That decision was before tonight's game. If they end up with Coronavirus, I imagine you're going to see the league go on a hiatus because a lot of people will have been in the sphere since then. Last thing you're going to do is have teams playing hampered while players are quarantined, possibly out for weeks because of this.

I think you see a 30-45 day hiatus in the next few days from the NBA.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have coronavirus. It's really about to hit the fan now.

No travel from Europe for 30 days. Big tourism hit

Wow! That's very decisive action. This is gonna hurt WDW most, but still. Wow.

And suddenly that vacation to Switzerland this June is on hold. I'm going to go with my See America First! plan for this summer instead, even though airfares on Swissair and hotel rates in Zurich are dropping by the day.

Suddenly it's 1986 all over again, when oil prices crashed and everyone cancelled their summer vacations in Europe.

For the Presidential address I made myself a spicy Bloody Mary, with a big fresh carrot as a stir stick. It cleared out my sinuses while simultaneously infusing me with vitamin power. I'm ready!

Except UK gets a pass. Without foreign travel spending $$ in the USA, NYC, Miami, Orlando, Washington DC as a few examples, overall business will be impacted heavily. Corona, go away!!

Okay, so to review after today's mass announcements of closures and public cancellations...

Having healthy college kids attend their classes in Orange County in formats like this is not okay...

But having the 1,000 seat Fantasyland Theater put on five shows per day is okay...

Allowing the Golden State Warriors to perform at the Chase Center like this is not okay...

But having the 2,000 seat Hyperion Theater pack the house three times a day is okay...

I'm still baffled by how people and organizations make that distinction. But it's fun to watch!

The worst part is that ending all travel from Europe does nothing to stop the spread of the virus. It's already here. We already have cases in a ton of states. All this does is cause even more panic in the stock market because you're basically cutting off international trade to make it seem like you're doing something productive. Also allowing the UK to be exempt leaves the obvious loophole of people just going to the UK first (especially since that country has been doing such a good job of having a functioning government in recent months).

Combine that with the Senate killing an emergency paid sick leave bill today, and it really feels like the government is making a lot of noise about doing something without actually helping the people who need it.
