So I started playing Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games the other day... my arms are so freakin' sore, but I'm having a blast and getting World and Olympic Records daily, so it's pretty neat. As of last night, I was tied for #6082 or something like that in the world in the 4x100 relay. I would have done better, but my grip was starting to slip on the nunchuck.

Is that an online game? I have it but I haven't even checked to see if it's WiFi or not.

It's not playable online, but you can connect to the WiFi if you go under "Records" and click on the option that has the image of a crown on the globe. That will allow you to get up to date records from users around the world and compare your results to others. The highest I've gotten was earlier this evening when I made it to a tie for #3142 in the 4x100m Relay.

So now, instead of destroying Atari joysticks we'll just be destroying our joints, right?

Mario & Sonic Olympics is a workout!

Your arms literally feel like Jell-O when you're done.

After you play a number of events in a row...it asks you if you want to take a break

The relay is the worst one in my eyes...even when it tells you that you can stop "running" it's tough. I always start out strong and then my arms just get so tired by the end of it. I'll have to check where I rank...I know I've got a record on the running ones.

Hurdles is easiest once you get "the hang". I still haven't figured out exactly how to lift the controller for the long and triple jumps. Ping Pong is hard too when you play somebody that volleys for 15-20 hits EVERY TIME. Swimming really takes patience to do. Fencing is the funnest to get up and play. I can't even try to do it sitting down. The kids laugh like crazy at me. Ping Pong is a must stand too. I always accidently "swing" on my "back swing" though.

I like the Dream Fencing event. It's a lot of fun. I used to Fence back when I was in High School. And I actually did Fence Epee. So that made me really happy to see in this game. Though, you only need five touches in a real event in order to win. But if it was only five in Mario and Sonic, then the event would be over pretty quick. The neat thing is that other than that, they kept one thing right with Epee, target area. In real Fencing, your target in Epee is anywhere on the body with the tip of your blade and there is no such thing as "Right of Way." If you Fence foil, you may only hit the torso with the tip of the blade and have to have "Right of Way" (achieved through parrying your opponent and counter attacking, or being the first to attack). If you hit your opponent at the same time your opponent hits you, only the person with "Right of Way" gets the point. Saber Fencing is anywhere above the waist with any part of the blade. That can get really nasty if someone swings hard enough.

That just made fencing much cooler, thanks. Almost picked it up in college. Darn classes always got in the way of a good time.

Well guys, Uncle Sam was a bit kinder to me this year and it looks like we will be getting a Wii in the very near future.

Now for the questions......

Accessories.
From my understanding the base system comes a single Wii remote and nunchuck. I have been told that having 4 remotes is almost essential but will I also need a total of 4 nunchucks?

Accessories I plan on getting
Wii Zapper
Wii remote charging station/ stand/ cooling fan
Silicone wraps for the remotes
Sports or action package
Wireless sensor bar
Component cables for 480p output

Are there any other accessories that I am missing?

It looks like Newegg is a pretty good source for accessories, are there any other e-tailers equal or better?

Now the million dollar question where can I get one at list ($250) price or in a non overpriced bundle?

The Silicone wraps are free from Nintendo. (They may actually come WITH the system now). If not, you can just insert your serial number on the nintendo website and they will send up to 4 free of charge (as well as stronger wrist straps)

WiiSports comes with the system (basic game with baseball, tennis, golf, boxing, and bowling).

I highly recommend the charging station and the component cables.

Yes, controllers are expensive.

$40.00 per Wiimote and $20.00 per nunchuk.

Most games now use both per game...but games like Mario & Sonic at the Olympics have a version of the game that JUST uses the Wiimote.

(Also, if you get 4 controllers, you may need to get 2 charging stations depending on which one you get)

EDIT: Like Mario or not...Super Mario Galaxy is a must. Tiger Woods '08 is fantastic also. Mario Strikers Charged is "eh" but it's very fun. I can't stand the stop in action for the Megastrikes though. (Tiger Woods doesn't require you to have multiple Wiimotes to play a multiplayer game...you just pass the Wiimote around...also, no Nunchuk required either)

Depends on what you plan to do with it. Some games, like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, allow up to 4 players, buy you need the Wiimote/nunchuck combo. So it's always good to have the 4 pairs.

Your best option is using this: http://www.outtastock.com/wii/ :animwink:

Yeah, I played both games on the PS2. It has amazing replay value. Can't wait to get it for the Wii. The list just grows and grows... :( Hopefully that report Nintendo prepared for the government will actually help us down here.

I think I know what two I'll be asking for as birthday presents... :D

If you haven't played Lego Star Wars, I highly suggest it.

The animation sequences in between the gameplay are hilarious.

You kill Darth Maul...and slice him in half. He still has the two "nubs" on his legs like a Lego mini would have if you took his torso off of his legs

Oh, I'll get that eventually as well, but those two are coming out leading up to my birthday.
