Wii...

Okay, I've been playing Brawl off and on all day and I have to say... I LOVE IT! I like that there are other modes rather than just a straight fighting game, it makes me like this will be one of those games that I'll still be playing in a couple of months trying to unlock everything. Though I will say, as far as unlocking new fighters goes, playing "The Subspace Emissary" Adventure mode will get you the characters you want a little faster than some of the other methods. I've gotten my top three unlockable characters that I wanted already and I still haven't gotten around to getting all of them.

I'm extremely "un-impressed" with this game. I only played it for like an hour last night but I gotta tell you...NOT happy with my purchase.

There you go...probably the first and only negative thing you'll hear about it!

My reasoning. I bought the Wii for a reason. It's a completely "different" gaming experience. Super Smash Brothers Brawl is nothing more than the Gamecube version with some added characters and levels. Whoop-dee-doo. You basically run around the screen mashing buttons together hoping your character does something cool.

Sorry Nintendo, I usually praise you...not this time.

The Wiimote could've definitely been used for SOMETHING! How about being able to throw your opponents in different directions by swinging the Wiimote?!?!? ANYTHING.

Had I not ordered it online and actually went to the store and bought it...I probably wouldn't have because I would've seen on the back of the case it shows the Gamecube and Classic controllers...

 I know I'll be alone in this boat.

I'm speechless.

But yeah, Brawl is definitely a "classic" experience, even though you can play with Wiimote only.

I just don't see this game having any "heart" like Mario Galaxy. It just seems like it's so mindless and repetitive. Eh  I dunno, maybe I have to give it another shot.

I think you all should just go out and get PS3's... come on guys if no one buys these things who the heck am i going to play online with!!!!!

... at least i can play blu ray discs...

The Wii is a TON more fun than PS3.

Brawl could've been released for the PS3...there is no way it requires being on the Wii.

Different beasts, really. I suppose you'll see Brawl's "true heart" after a nice multiplayer session.

I dunno...it's basically running around mashing the buttons. There really doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to any of it.

I think the worst part, for me, is the blatant, "Let's just put it out there because people want this title" feel to it. This didn't need to be on the Wii. It's like they wanted to make a sequel for the GameCube and it was too large of a game to fit on that little disc so they hyped it up for the Wii instead.

I'll give it another go this weekend...for the time being...it's back to Lego Star Wars :D

Except for, you know, the whole it being a Nintendo product with mostly Nintendo characters and all... ;)

Insert Crash and his buddies for Mario and Sonic and voila.

(And, I think that's ANOTHER reason I am disappointed...this is HOME GROWN from Nintendo! If this was from a 3rd party and they put out a game for the Wii that didn't utilize the Wiimote...I wouldn't have been as let down as I am.) This is a game...designed and made by Nintendo...to be the huge "flagship" game (which, by sales, it will be...even bigger than Mario Galaxy)..and it doesn't use the console for it's design intent!

This game really is a slap in the face to all that bought the Wii looking for a different gaming experience. If they wanted a standard game, they would've been better off with a 360 or a PS3. (Sure, this post is rather harsh...but it's kinda true)

Very early on, the developer said he wouldn't include any "Wii gimmicks" just for the sake of it. So yeah, this one is very "casual" in this sense. And I really don't think they'd plan it any differently for a sequel. I mean, they knew from the get-go that this would be for the Wii. Now Mario Kart, that's coming out with the whole "hold the Wiimote like a wheel" thing.

I understand not making it "gimmicky" but look at Mario Galaxy. There really is no REASON for the Wiimote...but they integrated it into the game rather smoothly and it works!

BRAWL could've done this without it being a gimmick. You run up, grab a guy, flick your wrist to the right to swing him around and let him fly in the direction you want. How about...in the "Super Moves" a target comes up and you can aim the Wiimote to direct your attack at certain opponents. A "roll" could've been a twist of the Wiimote. So much could've been done per character...it seems like their imaginations gave up on them.

Ok, I played it a little more tonight.

The "Story" version is rather good. I love the animations and the connection of all of the characters is extremely cool.

I still feel the same way about the controls though. This could be done on any other system whereas, IMHO, the Wii is for the people that want something "different."

I think Nintendo just had to release a new version of SB and since Wii is what they are promoting, thats where it needs to be.

The only advantage I see to playing SBB on Wii is using the Wiimote/Nunchuk and playing from the couch!

I completely agree! Untethered video gaming is the way to go. (I still have yet to plug my GameCube controllers into it...and my Classic Controller is still in its packaging)

BTW, I can't remember offhand...is the Classic Controller wireless?
