Why can people go to the same campground spot every weekend, the same cabin all summer long, the same fishing lake, etc. and nobody cares... but if you go to Disney World twice in the same year you're considered crazy and obsessed!?!

(Although I'm not denying the obsessed part!)

It really is nice to know that I am not alone in this, however I must admit that I am crazy and obsessed.
I can't answer your question so I will sit here like yourself and wait for someone more learned than us to reply.:D

Could be a lot of things, but I think a lot of people think of DisneyWorld as just a kids place; (ignorance of course!), so why would you go twice in one year?!?!

Its always someone who has never been to Disney, or who take other ignorant peoples word that Disney isnt fun, or worth it, etc.

Its really a place you HAVE to experience, IMHO, in order to understand the attraction to it.

Im glad I get it! :sohappy:

Do you remember in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, when Chekov had that mind controlling bug shoved in his ear? I think that's their problem.

We go to Myrtle Beach and Disney every single year. No one has a problem with the Myrtle Beach part. I find that a lot of people, when they think of Disney, think only of the Magic Kingdom and children and long lines and heat...a once in a life time experience. I can't get my parents to go. This is their mind set: Blah, who wants to wait for hours in the heat to ride kiddie rides.

I think, as someone else already said, that a lot of people consider WDW to be a once in a lifetime experience. I think too, that a lot of adults are EXTREMELY conservative and do not know how to let go and have fun like kids again. Sure they can go to a bar or something like that and 'let loose' but it's not the same at all. I hardly consider myself an adult but I am very glad that I am able to have fun like a kid still!

I go disney as much as possible, camp at a place called Heather Hills possibly up to 3 times a year and make an endless amount of day trips to the area since its only an hour away from my house and go upstate new york twice a year, your not crazy. Everyone has their get away. Speaking of the campers, Did you ever notice allot of those people who book those campsites over and over again go there just to sit in front of their RV's the whole time?

I do not feel a need to explain myself to people, if they do not understand then to bad I really could care less. I do not even try to make them understand because I find it to be futile, some people just look at disney as a kids place and that is fine with me, less people in the parks.

One thing I have definitely noticed about people is that quite a few will fit into 2 distinct categories when it comes to what they want out of a vacation. One likes to do nothing but relax on vacation. They will sleep late, go to the beach or lay out by the pool all day, etc. The other wants to be active. They hike, dive, or in a role familiar to us, got to theme parks. Sure you can do all of those relaxing things at WDW but it is not what the place is really designed around. Hence, a person that wants to vegetate on vacation is typically not going to see value in a Disney vacation.

Personally, I lean way toward the active side. Sleeping does not relax me, doing does. This is one of the reasons I love a WDW trip. I am going all the time.

In my mind going to Disney twice in one year would be awesome and something I would love to do. But apparently, the budget will not allow this for me at this time. Are you crazy for going to Disney twice? No... Just very fortunate.

Very few people I know IRL "get" the whole Disney thing. I've had several people tell me that they don't think they would enjoy themselves (?!?), or that they went once so they never need to go back (so funny, especially when they went in 1981 and don't even realize/care that there are new parks/resorts/rides). Every so often I'll have someone tell me that they went once and didn't like it- or worse, hated it! I don't even know how that's possible

I have a manager who went to Disney and only went to MK too. He came back liking it, but he had no idea their were "3 parks" at Disney (obviously he was missing one). He was telling me all this stuff about his trip, and he had so much wrong that I didn't even have the energy to correct him. I'm like, "Seriously? Your going to take a trip to Disney and not educate yourself on your vacation?" I think he got a free (or almost free) trip down somehow, but still.

At last, PEOPLE WHO THINK LIKE ME!!!!!

People literally get accusative and angry when I tell them I went to Disney twice in 6 months. They act like I did something "offensive" or like I killed one of their family members or something, I never understand it. I think a lot of their distaste or inability to understand probably stems from a "bad" experience at WDW, or something?? I really don't know.
For those that understand no explanation is needed. For those that do not understand no explanation will ever suffice.

I second this, all I say to people is "come with me next time, you'll understand"...

I would love to take my parents to WDW as they always turn their noses up when I try to take about WDW, my mum tells me "you need to grow up and go somewhere normal". As I'm from the UK there is no chance I can whisk my parents there and show them the magic! They once got on a plane to Ireland and that was too traumatising for them! (the plane ride not the country!).

I get very frustrated at peoples ignorance of WDW. No one I know understands the magic, everyone I know laughs at me! It's just me, my BF and you lot that have found eutopia :sohappy:
