Why the hate???

Dark Lord of the Tater Tots, your post made me think of my friend... he is a die hard Yankee fan... I can never have any intelligent conversations about baseball or the Yankees with him... NONE... he is irrational to the point he needs to either step back from baseball for a while or needs professional help... Every draft is the Yankees best... Every off season signing or trade they do (or don't do) is always the best move of any team in the off season... He can never find it in himself to ever give credit to other teams (such as Baltimore, Tampa Bay and never to the Red Sox or Mets).... When I mention how I respect the moves of other teams, and how great those moves are, and how awesome they are building their teams and will present a challenge to the Yankees, I am met with a NO WAY.. NEVER... Kind of sounds like a Disney fan never giving Universal credit huh? LOL...

Well no, we all know that Yankees fan are just wrong.

@rsoxguy said something about Yankees fans back in February that I still think about and makes me smile:
Yankees fans? They can be annoying in the parks, at the grocery store, in my house... :)
I despise the Yankees, but when a guy makes a good play, I give credit. Did I vote all Orioles on the All star Ballot? Heck yeah (except for Brian Roberts. Don't like the guy). Yankees fans also have a propensity for taking over Camden Yards. Which was why it was funny earlier this year when they were losing terribly and got a guy on base and started to cheer and the Baltimore fans quickly drowned them out.

As far as Universal goes, Disney was my first love, so I'll always be loyal to them as I am to the Orioles. I've never been to Universal. Why? Mainly cost. Also because I don't care for Harry Potter and some of the other stuff from films there except for Shrek and the Marvel stuff. But it's apparently well-done and I respect that, especially since they went through a bad period when it opened and the company was well-run enough to fix that.

Also, I've been to Carsland. I shall never recover;)

Kudos to Baltimore being relevant in baseball again... See, all it took was a former Yankees manager to turn things around.. ;) But alas, you'll never win the World Series... Not until Bucky leaves as manager, then you'll win it the net year... Poor guy always builds the teams and never is around to get the glory...

Key word in this statement: KIDS.... yes, kids are cruel, mean, and down right hurtful... Yes, they tease, especially boys teasing girls at a young age... 4th grade, you were a kid, and as a kid, the reaction to being teased about something you like would be hurt feelings... And I'd accept a kid being hurt over being teased about Disney... notice I said A KID... not an adult...

Maybe it's because I'm female, but even now if someone tells me, "Why do you want to go there? It's stupid" (yes this has happened) I tell them to bug off. One of my guy friends told me to go someplace else for once (even though he likes it too). I raised an eyebrow at him and told him I would vacation where I wanted, thank you very much (yes we are still friends. I just occasionally have to tell him to bug off on various topics. Teen guys:rolleyes: . He's also fiercely loyal and will tell others off when something said is not true).

Also, I don't care if they are kids. Teasing friends who know you are kidding is okay. My friends know I'm never serious. Downright meanness when you can tell you're hurting someone else's feelings is not and kids need to be taught this. Far too much bullying occurs here often with terrible consequences. Words can hurt.

We always liked Buck even when he was a Yankees manager. He's really down-to-Earth, respectful of his players, wise in baseball, just a great guy. Maybe it's because even when they win, he never looks happy...

Defensive, sure. But upset that someone else doesn't like it? That's ridiculous.

Like my cousin getting upset when I told her that I had no desire to visit the Grand Canyon and that I didn't care too much for Hawaii outside of Aulani? Yeah, I get what you're saying. Also, my cousin is an idiot in general. Of course, my parents couldn't believe it when I said I hated Waikiki until last trip when someone at Aulani said the exact same thing.

Not even sure what the topic is anymore. Seems to have derailed a few pages back, but

The other person replied with "oh god no, we hate it there and find it boring"!!! I then right there almost died!!! I guess the look on my face was enough for my hubby to say " are you ok"? Now I know like I said Disney isnt for everyone, But I truly got insulted, like it was a family member they were talking about!!

There are many places in the world to visit, a good bunch of them of them are more entertaining, meaningful, and awe-inspiring than Disney World. Grand Canyon vs. teenage girl prancing around in a mouse suit? Rocky Mountains vs. a fiberglass castle? Hawaii vs. animatronic birds singing to an ancient recorded track? And that's just this part of the world.

I went through about a 5 year phase of Disney obsession, but not so much anymore. There's a lot more interesting stuff to do than wait in line for the same old rides among sweaty, rude guests. In fact, I opted to stay home and clean my house today while the BF goes to Disneyland without me, and I'm very happy to be folding laundry instead of hurting my feet in a theme park right now. Even my kids could take Disney or leave it. They've been there, done that. They'd rather go on a road trip or explore a national park. My 12 year old son found out he's going to Yellowstone in a few weeks, and literally had tears in his eyes he was so excited.

I can understand temporary hysteria over a newly discovered vacation destination, or a place that someone hasn't visited in a long time, but have trouble relating to people who spend a lifetime with an over-the-top obsession with any one particular location.

Allow me to help you with a quick summary. Why? Because I'm a giver, and well, quite frankly, I'm sitting here watching The Nightmare Before Christmas while waiting for a late Red Sox game.

This thread is about people who take offense at Yankees fans who don't like going to Disney World because they don't serve Tastykake lemon pies, but instead sit and debate psychology, genders, and what it is that constitutes a personal attack.

"You're Welcome!"

It's fine. Like Nemo14 has been saying, it'd be boring if we were all the same.

In my case, it's less of an obsession than a passion. I'm not passionate about many things (except cats and the Orioles). But Disney is one of them. Something I grew up with. Almost like another hometown. Is it over the top? Maybe. But it makes us unique. And I also love learning about other amusement parks and places. Heck, I spent most of my time in middle school designing fake parks on Roller Coaster Tycoon and reading up on roller coaster design. I've never seen anything wrong with it except that it makes me myself.
