Why no "Classy" value resorts

So if you can't afford 200+ a night then your only other option for an on-site hotel MUST include a 25ft statue. Again if you take the the Art of Animation site and instead of placing these big statues you spend the money on the landscape and maybe some faux rocks and stuff it still would not compare to the Deluxe resorts or even the Moderates it would still be a value resort with all the same benefits of the value and nothing more.

I've always felt Disney deliberately made the Value resorts as gaudy as possible to encourage people who wanted to stay on property to stay at a Moderate or a Deluxe. If they wanted to build something classy, they would have.

I think that some of the themes at non-values could be considered outlandish or over-the-top. I've always felt the Swan and Dolphin are obnoxiously themed. (:shrug:Don't ask me why. I've never stayed there, but walking around them leaves me with that impression.) I also think some of the non-values are under-themed. I love POFQ, but the theme is lacking in some ways.

Because why then would people pay $200+ to stay at a moderate or Deluxe if they can stay at a Value Resort which offers the same experience?
I don't think a new value would offer anything more service or room size wise. Just something of an appearence not designed by and for a 3 year old.

How cynical.

It's possible that the Value Resorts are built more with an eye towards keeping the kids entertained.

This might be off topic a little, but my last stay was at the Music resort, in the Broadway rooms. I thought the theme was right for people without kids. The music at night along with the lights from the signs made it feel like you were in New York. Also the piano pool I noticed were mostly adults, so if one didn’t want the noise of children this could be a viable option.

Very true.

However, there is still class at every budget level. For example, the difference between a stylish single colour scheme, say off-white, and crass pink with big yellow dots and purple stripes.
It is just paint, neither is more expensive, but one makes a classy resort and the other a zoo.

So, classy = off white paint and off white paint IMO = boring

We are extremely fortunate and have been able to go to WDW almost every year (sometime twice in one year) since 1997. With the exception of one year we've always stayed at a value resort. We've always enjoyed our time there. We especially love Pop Century! :animwink: I have upgraded us to POFQ for our September trip as a surprise for my family! (they still don't know about it) I'm already wondering if we'll miss Pop Century!

I find a lot more Electric Grannies at value resorts. You can't go to a bus stop without running into (and having to wait on...) those darn scooters.
Last two trips were at moderates, and found them less crowded in general, and only one Electric Granny in two trips...
But I started driving and avoiding the buses all together, and find myself enjoying that a lot more.

'Electric Grannies' ... now that's funny! :ROFLOL: Never head that term before.

In fact, my favorite room I have stayed in was a POP Century room that offered a view of Spaceship Earth through my window. My son, who was 4 at the time, fell asleep every nights with a view of a purple Spaceship Earth. That's as good as it gets.

Interesting...what section of of POP offers a view of Spaceship Earth?!?!?
