Why is there no variety in the park castles?

It was designed to mimic real castles in Europe which often include the landscape in their design.

By your own admission it's different so what more would you want to see? Let's be honest. You go to a Disney resort and you want to see a castle just like this!

Ok thats one and still Sb castle even if it is different. What about Hong Kong and Tokyo? Even if it was for cost I think that it lacks imagination.

They do have a model of Paris' castle at One Man's Dream, but the caption does not say anything about be a concept for Cindy's. The caption talks about it being the castle at DLP.

Ok thanks I havent been in there lately! lol How many castles does that girl need? And why no love for Snow White???

I've wondered about this since I was 8! Why not build a different castle in each park? Let's see: there's Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas...is that it?

Yeesh, so much hate for the other castles. Yikes

I never really worried about it. Why does every Disney princess need a castle in a Disney park? The "Disney Princesses" franchise wasn't even really established until very recently after all these parks were built. There haven't really been new parks for Jasmine or Pocahontas or Ariel or Belle to have their own castles built, and changing the name of a classic castle just wouldn't fly well, I think.

Besides, Most of those princesses would have castles that really wouldn't make sense at the end of Main Street. Pocahontas's castle? What is that, a teepee? Jasmine's castle wouldn't look right and Ariel's doesn't even make sense. The typical Americanized version of the "castle" is the fairy-tale, European style, which is what Disney perfected. And they just happen to be naming them after the European fairy-tale princesses.

If it ain't Baroque, don't fix it.

The OLC wanted Tokyos to be like Orlando - with a different colour of paint. Hong Kongs was budget but that`s for another thread.

I like them all...but Disneyland Paris' castle is just gorgeous and really looks like it came right out of a fairytale book. But Cindys castle will always be my favorite.

the disney land resort paris castle, is truly fantastic, the castle is influenced by the 'sleeping beauty' film which is why it has square stylised trees planted around, if you watch the film youll see. and the castle has a dungeon where the dragon sleeps, it feels like a real dark dank cavern when you go in, and all you can hear is the dragon breathing, until your eyes adjust to the darkness, then youcan see the dragon asleep on a rock in a undergouind pool, its huge, then when its wakes up....wow. there even a 'secret' staircase built into the rock that goes back up into the castle.plus you can walk around the gallery upstairs of the castle and go outside walk round the turrets, and look down over fantasy land. its fanatastic.
i think they should pull down the castle at wdw, and really redisgn it, so its not just a walkthrough to fantasy land, and an expensive restuarant, but should feel like a real castle as dlrp does

Here is a castle question. I heard or saw somewhere and it's bugging me because I can't remember where that DL was built while SB was still in production. So I find it interesting that Walt would choose that to be the castle when SB hadn't even come out yet. Cinderella would seem to have been what I thought he would have picked, the only thing that I can think of is that Walt wanted to promote SB.

Yes SBC was used to promote the movie. There was a walk-through exhibit in SBC in DL that had dioramas from the movie.

Wow I find that very interesting but it's bugging me that I can't remember where I heard that. I love our castle in WDW but it would be cool to have some sort of attraction like the castle in japan had but only if they didn't have to tear the whole thing down that would be a terrible idea!

Don’t forget the suite and princess boutique.

If they really wanted to they could reroute the utilidors a bit and build a TDL type attraction is the area under the castle. I don’t think that would ever happen though.

isaid that there was a restaurant up there!. im not saying abolish it and never bring it back, just utilise it more, open alot more of it up (and down!).
good grief not kill it, just reinvent it , if they are going to build more immersive castles around the world (the real world), wouldnt guest eventually expect the wdw one to be also?

While we are on the subject of castles I have a question. Why was the restaurant in WDW originally called King Stefan's Banquet hall?

Well he is the king, so it’s his banquet hall. Cinderella is only a princess, so I think a better question would be why is it called Cinderella Castle?

I think they were referring to the fact that King Stefan is from Sleeping Beauty, and not Cinderella.

I've never really heard a reason for the original naming of the restaurant, just that there was the naming discrepancy. He may have just been the only named king in a movie up until that point, and they decided to use him.

Yep, that was my question. I remember that it always struck me as weird since it was Cinderella's castle and yet there was a restaurant named after the king in Sleeping Beauty.
