Why does everyone hate SGE?

I've been wondering about this for years. No one has ever really given me a specific reason why anyone hates this amazing, fun-filled attraction, and is definately a must for me at Magic Kingdom. It is second best followed behind Space Mountain (at least for me). I've looked everywhere but the only responses I've ever seen is, "SGE stinks!" or "Shut it down!"
Okay... any good reason?
Can you guys give me a reason?
(20 reasons and I will post why I LIKE it so much).

Because it is just such a very poor attraction. It basically doesn't do anything. It smells vile. The shoulder harnesses hurt when they thump up and down. Bits don't work.

Everyone was just laughing and joking at how poor it was when we went.

The attendance is poor so there's very few people there with you. COP is better attended and (controversy ahead) it's as old as the hills and shows it.

I just think this character deserves so much better!

Sorry can't think of 20 reasons but these should suffice. Change it now!:(

Terrible writing, terrible story structure and purpose, still scares the beejesus out of kids which was the reason we had to lose Alien Encounter, terrible animation for the animated parts, a story that contradicts the film it's based one.

Need anymore reasons?

I love Stitch- the movie was adorable. I, too, didn't think the ride did the character justice. It's a good idea in theory, but the ride just doesn't do it for me. I would have loved for it to be a roller coaster, or maybe just intensify the ride that's already there. To me, it was extremely boring. I wanted more action. Have you ever ridden the "Gravitron" at carnivals? The ride that spins so fast that you stick to the seat? Maybe they could do something like that... like make you feel like you are going on a crazy ride with Stitch.

As I said, I love the idea of the ride, just not the actual ride. It didn't really do anything for me.

totally agree on the contradicting the film. If they are going to have it, they need to make it more kid friendly. Every time I have been on it, there's a giant crowd of parents calling the cast members over to let them out... haha!

The last one? REALLY?
I doubt this person even got on this attraction.

Yes, really.

The attraction is set prior to the movie. Yet Stitch refers to himself as Stitch, before coming in contact with Lilo. On top of that, he crash lands on Earth and the council or whatever knows it, yet in the movie they have never heard of it.

So yea. Really.

based on my years on the board (and my own experiences riding it), it boils down to these reasons:

a) it's a watered-down version of an attraction that was much beloved by many park goers, especially those that frequent these boards.
b) it doesn't have a repeatability factor to it. you could argue alien encounter did, because you wanted to see how others reacted to that suspense, or relive those tense moments. with stitch, that element is taken away. so once you ride it, why would you again?
c) some people just don't like stitch.
d) there's some residual anger towards stitch from when the company tried to force feed him in the early 2000s (an attempt to lump him into the iconic fab 5, inclusion in the monorail spiel, TPing the castle).

if they would have gutted the inside and given stitch a more original attraction, i could see some people not being to opposed to it. but when you walk in there, you can still feel the ghost of alien encounter, replaced by a character some find to be very irritating.

personally, i like stitch. i think he's fun. loved the movie. but i can't stand this attraction. not necessarily for all the reasons i gave you, but i feel pangs of some in my resentment toward the ride.

Flawed rules (softened for a child friendly attraction but the height restrictions limit the age the attraction was changed to accommodate) and the fact it replaced a superior attraction for the wrong reasons. AE had such a novel, fitting and futuristic backstory and was executed in such a unique way. It was the cornerstone of Tomorrowland 94s story.

Had it been a new build I dare say more people would like it. Movie tie in or not.

that's exactly why.

We need time for things to happen.
I guess I would like to see something that would be a bit more entertaining in this spot. I don't HATE this attraction, but I'm not crazy about it either --Stitch being the main reason....come to think of it....I have to say that Stitch himself doesn't bother me as much as the general animation of the human characters in the cartoon itself!
Their huge cankle-like legs and weird pudged out noses....Is it just me? I can't stand looking at them.

I could never get past that, and because of it I could never latch onto the story and never cared for Stitch.

Sorry got of topic there.

To the bolded: The only good reason I've seen so far.
To the underlined: Yup. I need mor reasons because most of your reasons were invalid. Great writing, awesome story structure but an okay purpose. Great animation, and seriously? The last one? REALLY?
I doubt this person even got on this attraction.
EDIT: 15 more reasons to go! Only 1 was good!
Because about 40% of AE is still there and that "Aliens" dystopian style clashes horrifically with the watercolor backgrounds of Lilo and Stitch.

The harness POUNDED my shoulders to the point where they were sore walking out of the ride the one time I did it. I'm not a fan of getting hot dog burp sprayed in my face either.

This is what I'm talking about. If you make an attraction uncomfortable and basically squalid then no wonder people don't like it. Unpleasant equals unhappy. I actually felt quite let down after this experience. Lets face it, Disney have cheaped out on this attraction and really they should do better.

I find the attraction unintelligible, boring, loud for no apparent reason, and to be based on a character that doesn't belong in tomrrowland because his movie took place in the present.

Further, I am appalled at the justiposition of a very realistic-leaning seat and attraction apparatus with the story played out with animation and a cartoony AA. MILF, on the other hand, has a cartoony set to go with a animated visuals -- doesn't contrast (note that MILF also doesn't belong in Tomorrowland).

If there needs to be a Stitch attraction, why not make one where Stitch can interact with the kids that he is supposed to attract? Stitch Live (Paris) would work better, and the Stitch version of the Tiki Room in Tokyo is actually not bad either. But SGE...pass.
