Whispering Canyon Change

What is funny about this is that newer guests probably won't miss something like that because it will interfere with their 'staring at their phone' time at the table. I know that smart devices are praised as great technological advances. One thing that they have ruined, though, is the interaction of the people that you are actually with. When we go out to eat anywhere now just look around and see how many people are looking at their phones while completely ignoring the others at the table. I see kids now sitting and eating with headphones on so they are completely shutout from their surroundings. "How dare the wait staff try to have fun with me while I am face-timing with my friend in Montana or am down to the final six in Fortnite!! Just give me my food and let me be!!"

There are obviously great things with the invention of smart devices, internet and the instantaneous access of information. It has definitely impacted how people interact with their immediate environment. I see it all of the time on SSE. Folks last about 1 minute up and already they are looking at their favorite social media feeds. I think most slow moving omnimovers now are impacted by this. I even see people's faces lit up in the dark sections of the peoplemover in TL. Unless it is the new trackless rides like the Battle Escape in SW:GE where there is lots of action and constant eye candy, it wouldn't surprise me if slow moving omnimovers are a thing of the past. People don't have the patience to sit through them when they can open their phone and have instant access to things that they are most passionate about.

I re-checked and the post said that this was started 3 days ago, so probably 4 as of today. I hope you are right and that this was just someone who didn't look like they wanted to play along, not a change in the whole location. What is next, the 50's Prime Time servers not being in character?? Marie
I mean sometimes certain waiters don’t play it up as much...I don’t know what their exact post said. I’ve gone several times and sometimes it’s pretty chill, and others the waiters play a lot, your results may vary so I wouldn’t write it off as them stopping the playful vibe.

Ive had a few skippers that simply did not know how far or close to hold the microphone from their mouth. Couln understand much of what they said

I had one of those in 2016. She threw a temper tantrum within the first minute and set down the microphone for the rest of the ride.
It was horrible. I really do hope that she was removed from those duties.

Does anyone have confirmation that this has actually happened?

The shocking revelation here is that there’s a carrier out there strong enough to provide reception in SSE.

Might as well be in a Faraday cage.

Truedat.

Seems like every building in WDW was designed to block signal of every kind. I bet you could drop an EMP in the center of property and every electronic device inside would escape unharmed.

Not as of yet. I wont be down for a little while yet and was hoping someone would be on site a bit faster than I will be able to. Marie
Shame we are locked into mother's day stuff on Sunday. It would not take much for me to talk Mel in to making the drive down for breakfast.;)

I don’t believe this unless it’s a cost savings...in which case I 100% agree.

But...to play the devil...wilderness lodge is now heavily tilted DVC. DVC is way more “get off my lawn” than anyone gives them “credit” for...just saying

It always baffles me when people want to go to Whispering Canyon or 50s Prime Time, two places known for antics and just have a quiet dinner. That's why it's been toned down!!!

Same here. I don't get it. But many don't bother to do research. I'm not a "look at me and make a big deal out of me" person either, but why do companies continue to let a small majority of whiners control what they do? I love these restaurants make it more of a show. I swear some people just don't understand Disney at all.

Not everyone knows that those restaurants are known for that. Our first time to 50's Prime Time Cafe we had no idea that was what we were getting into. And frankly we hated it. Thankfully the server picked up on that and left us alone. There are many first time Guests that are trying to book sit down meals having no idea what they are booking. I believe this is why they tone them down or have the server try and read who wants to play and who doesn't.
