The food is very good, pretty standard fare, but good. Atmosphere is where this place stands out and your kids will have a blast.

The food is good; they serve a BBQ platter family style among other things.

The cast members make the meal however, they yell, and play tricks. For our wedding anniversary they said “remember this” and they had everyone in the restaurant get up and do the hokie pokie, then my wife and I had to get up to do it for everyone.

We ate there when we are on vaction last yr. I can be a rowdy atmosphere, but still fun, the food was great.

Don't forget to ask for Ketchup.:ROFLOL:

Has anyone ate there, and how is the food and is it fun for kids?:)

No, nobody has ever eaten there :lookaroun Sorry, but I just had to

This is a pretty popular restaurant and, I have to say, one of our favorites. We MUST have the skillet breakfast at least once every trip (usually 3-4 times), the lunches are nice and ths BBQ skillets for dinner are great (they serve the skillets at lunch as well, but we find them too heavy for mid day).

The servers are really the big draw as they can really make or break the experience. My kids loved the pony express races when they were little as well as the coloring pages and belonging to the clean plate club :king:
It's not the place to go if you want a nice quiet meal as it's quite lively, though breakfast can be a bit more sedate. Just ask for some ketchup or an extra straw or two and let the fun ensue!!

We have eaten there a few times and enjoyed ourselves. The food is good, but the atmosphere is why we really go. You and your kids should have a great time....:o

We LOVE the Whispering Canyon Cafe! As a previous poster said, breakfast can be a more quiet experience if that is what you want and we have at times been maybe one of only three of four families in the whole place. For me, I really enjoy the antics of the waiters, the pony races, the tricks, jokes and dancing, so dinner is what we typically do. Hitting it at least once on our trip in October and I made plans for my nurse to eat there next week on her trip.

I forgot to tell her about the ketchup though and I know that her son likes Ketchup on everything! :ROFLOL:

OK - we're passholders. EVERY MORNING, for eight days, twice a year, for 5 years.... we have breakfast at the Whispering Canyon Cafe :)

I have never wanted to go anyplace else. By now? We know all the CMs. This is a GREAT place. If you go, ask to be seated in Hickory's area. Your children will LOVE this place, and so will you :)

Wow! That's a LOT of Whispering Canyon!! We have always just had the skillet for breakfast when there since it gives everybody a bit of whatever they want. Anything super spectacular you would suggest otherwise or do you get the same thing each day?

Our reservation is for dinner this year but I imagine someone at some point is going to get a hankering for breakfast there and we might walk in and see if we can get a seat.

Just got back fom the World today, and we ate there on Friday. The food is good, and the atmosphere is great, especially for kids. They have races and do the hokey pokey. :) You'll have fun!

This has been a "must-do" for my family for years now. But like the 50's Prime Time and other places that necessitate "schtick" during the meal, if the waiter/waitress is a buzz kill, it can be so-so. Almost to the point where you say to yourself, why is everyone else having such a great time and why is my waitress such a bummer? :ROFLOL:

On the other hand, I've seen HORRIBLE reviews of this restaurant by dolts who were actually appalled by the schtick and COMPLAINED that there was too much commotion going on; that kids were loud and playing (at Disney? gasp!); and that all they did was ask for ketchup and were treated horribly! however with people like this, you wonder why they came to WDW in the first place!

One time we were there, the waiter put those huge industrial size coffee filters on the women's heads and tied them up to look like bonnets. The guys he put headbands on and used straws as "feathers" to make us look like Indians. My wife asked for a large water with lemon in it and the waiter came out with something the size of a 5 gallon bucket with 2 lemons floating in it! I dropped my fork and ended up with a 3 foot wooden fork that they took off the wall as a replacement for me! The table next to us paid by credit card. The waiter came out and says real loud: "Mr. Smith, number 44123456789, your card is D-E-C-L-I-N-E-D!". Obviously, he was joking and made it all up, but the upper class snoots at the table were obvioulsy mortified and the disgusted look on their face was priceless. that in itself was funnier than the skit!

And as many times as I have been there, I have yet to eat anything else other than the all-u-can-eat BBQ skillet. it rocks! My wife has tried other things on the menu and hasn't complained yet.

Go, just go, don't ask why-BBQ is supurb:slurp: You have to experience it for yourself. I love the place. The first time I went there, I had no idea what it was all about:shrug:. I was VERY Hungover from the night before :hammer:and went down for breakfast. They seated me by the kitchen and EVERYONE who went into or out of the kitchen would stamp their tray-stands on the floor, or just stamp really loud or pound on my table  - EVERY TIME!!!!!!!! After about 20 minutes of this, I finally caught on and they had great fun teasing me about it the whole time!!!!!!:ROFLOL:
