If you were going in the middle of July would you spend the extra money to stay at POR or would you for go the ambiance and quiet for having the extra spending money and stay at Pop with all the kids and noise that comes with them? Which would you choose?:shrug:

I wuold stay at POR. I used to think that the hotel you were staying at doesn't make a difference, but once I started staying at Mods or Deluxe rather than Value, my Disney vacation seemed much more enjoyable and less stressful.

depends on $$. Pop is great and so is POR. Prob POR if I could choose. Been to both and I enjoyed them both.
Thanks guys. I feel better about my choice. :animwink: Actually we dont get to go to DisneyWorld frequently it is actually my husbands first time ever. He said I could choose where I wanted to stay and I chose POR but recently was feeling a little selfish thinking of all the extra spending money we could have had had we picked Pop. I think you are right TubaGeek if you are going to Disney do it right. Who knows when we will be able to be back again so now I am not regretting my decision. :sohappy:

Both resorts are great. I think that POR is worth spending the extra cash. Pop would be my choice if I were going during the summer months though. Less walking, the resort isn't as spread out as POR. I loved POR and didnt mind the walking when we went...but it was also the in middle of November so we got spoiled with such beautiful weather all week. In July, walking in that heat can be exhausting, but the resort itself is well-worth the extra cash. I actually would spend the extra dough to stay at POFQ. It's not nearly as big as POR, but still a very nice resort.

If you have the finances, I would totally upgrade! If you haven't ever stayed at an upgraded resort before, however, be mindful that you may never want to go down a level again! I must confess that that is what happened to me on our last trip. Grew up staying at places like CBR, then spent a week at the WL last time, now am hooked on deluxe!
But, that being said, we did seriously consider staying at POR for this trip. I think it's got the best theming of the moderates.

We are going in Sept. 2008.
We have stayed at both POR & Pop.
We were going to stay at Pop on our next trip, then we upgraded to POR.
Although I hear that Pop is the nicest of the value resorts (we have never stayed at any of the other ones)...
POR would be my choice (it is so quiet & scenic -- just more relaxing than Pop).

POR is by far a better choice. The value resorts are nice, but the problems that come with them negate that. Summer is tour group time...tour groups stay at values...tour groups are EVIL...therefore the values are EVIL in the summer.:fork:

Me, definately, Ill stay at Pop half century. Ive never stayed at any of the other upscale disney resorts other than the moderate caribbean beach, and the all stars, but pop is my favorate resort. In a way its almost like a waste of money to stay at some of the other ones. For example Caribbena Beach seemed to be the exact same size room as pop, maybe a little bigger, but basically had the same thing. On top of that, the busses were better at pop, so Id choose pop half century.

I would stay at Pop. You will save money which you can spend on other things. The rooms at the mods are not that much bigger than the values. Plus, how much time do you really plan to spend at your resort? Those reasons make it hard for me to justify paying the extra money for a mod. However, I am obviously in the minority with that opinion. :shrug:

If it were January or something, then and only then might I consider a value resort because it would be easier to chill in the Parks, but given it will be July, you're probably going to want to take a little siesta here and there and get out of the heat. POR is "home" for me so I might be a tad biased, but I would stay there in a heartbeat over a value resort during high season. It's shady, has several quiet pools, and in general is very quiet. The transportation is rated the best of all the resorts, too.

Cool Thanks everyone for your humble opinions. I think that I have chosen wisely too. I will just have to have a garage sale or something to make up for the extra spending money. My B-day is in June and I have asked my family for Disney Dollars so that should give me some extra cash. Whoo Hoo!:sohappy:
