These are the two lands in the American parks that are drasticaly different. Which do you prefer and you don't have to have been to DL to answer so everyone vote and leave your opinion.

Which do you like more?

1. Stlye/looks
2. Theming

My vote goes for LibertySquare because I love the classic American feeling and look. I also like the exterior of WDW HM more than DL.

Another thin is I don't like POTC being in NS.

I disagree because I don't thnk POTC fits in NOS but it's still amazingly themed.

PotC fits perfectly in New Orleans Square. Absolutely perfectly. It also fits in Adventureland. I don't think either fit is better, really. Shame that WDW didn't get a proper PotC ride out of the deal. If only the beautifully themed queue in the old Spanish fortress had translated into a full-length experience once you get on the boats.
I think the Haunted Mansion definitely fits better in New Orleans Square than Liberty Square. I never really liked its placement in Liberty Square, as despite the style of the building the attraction itself doesn't really seem to fit the patriotic theme of the rest of the land. Problem is, it wouldn't fit any better in any other land, either.
I much prefer the exterior of the DL Haunted Mansion. It actually looks haunted to me. It fits in wonderfully in New Orleans Square in both exterior themeing and interior story. Much better fit than WDWs version. Definitely prefer most of the interior of the WDW Mansion, though, with the exception of the stretching rooms. Its much more unnerving to be staring up at the ceiling and feeling yourself going down than just staring at a rising ceiling.

We disagree on a few points.

On HM not fitting anywhere else, I think Phantom Manor in DLP's Frontier Land works great.

Also I think the floor moving down in the DL streching room totaly kills the effect. You feel it jerk before it starts to move down and I felt more like I was in an elevator than a streching room .

Don't know when you were at DL last, but I've ridden it several times this year and never felt any "jerk" in either elevators.

Yes, Phantom Manor works great in Frontierland, but neither of the stateside versions are the same as Phantom Manor. Not just the exterior themeing but the interior is different as well. I wouldn't plop down either of the US Mansions in Frontierland as is. There'd have to be changes...changes I don't want in such a classic. Phantom Manor looks wonderful (never had the pleasure of visiting, unfortunately) but I wouldn't want it in place of the US Mansions.

I rode it at the end of May.

Also I like a mansions better and wouldn't take PHM over them I was just pointing out it would work.

also in TDL HM is in FL.

New Orleans Square really is so beautifully themed and lovingly detailed. I love wandering the twisty streets among the shops and attractions. And I do love both the HM and PotC that are there. (the Blue Bayou is my all time fav Disney restaurant!)

Liberty Square is too spread out, and blends too much with Frontierland to feel special to me. Although I admit the buildings are lovely, and I love the lantern lit Liberty Tree directly out of Jonny Tremaine.

Maybe I got lucky with DL's elevators? Or was just too wrapped up to notice! :)

I HAVE been to TDL, and the HM does not fit in in Fantasyland at all. They didn't have much choice, though, with no Liberty or New Orleans Square, there wasn't anywhere else that it even remotely fit.

All my opinion of course.

Yea but also in Japanese culture they view ghosts as fantasy so that helps with it fitting.

Awsome that you went there, did you go to TDS?

No, I haven't seen Tokyo DisneySea, unfortunately. :( I used to live in Okinawa, Japan when I was growing up. My father was in the Air Force and he was stationed at Kadena Air Force Base. I lived in Okinawa from 1985-1991, so we got up to Tokyo Disneyland (about a four hour flight from Okinawa) a few times. Once in 1985, once in 1987 and one last trip in 1990. Haven't been back since I left in 1991. Hope to someday, but its kinda out of our budget right now!
My mother was also a teacher at one of the schools on base in Okinawa, and we got free trips back to the states every summer because of that. So, also got a few trips into WDW while visiting relatives in South Carolina.

That was an intentional detail. Each building heading towards Splash takes you further back in time. But I agree that Liberty Square is not very distinct at all and except for HM I define nothing with it. I know HOP is there but it isn't a standout attraction.

Definitely disagree on Pirates not being appropriately placed at DL.

Adventureland might feel like the better fit thematically, but New Orleans Square makes more sense geographically.

New Orleans sits on the Gulf of Mexico, which empties right into...the Caribbean Sea.

One of the reasons Pirates was not initially included at WDW is because the actual Caribbean is so close to Florida that Imagineers didn't think there would be enough of a sense of "transport" there. Adventureland is supposed to evoke far off, exotic locales, and the Caribbean doesn't really qualify (although the ride definitely fits the theme of the land in every other way).

As for the two HM's...WDW's exterior is definitely more foreboding, but DL's has an understated elegance that I appreciate and is creepy in its own way. I'm not sure I think one is better than the other.

When it comes to picking between the two squares, it has to be New Orleans Square for me. You have the original incarnations of quite possibly the two most iconic and well-known Disney attractions ever made. Hall of Presidents just can't match that, I'm afraid.

For me its Liberty Tree. I just love the Americanna looks and feel. Also makes me proud to be an American from the perspective of freedom and Liberty that was paid during the revolution. Now last I looked, New Orleans is by the Gulf of Mexico surrounded by Texas, Miss, FLA just to name a few. I live in NJ now but as a Texan nothing beats Texas.

I think New Orleans Square is imagineering at the peak of its game.

But I'm a sucker for Liberty Square! I love it - the theme, the architecture, the way in which it uplifts an entire theme park above Six Flags.

Besides, one can always visit the real NO. But not Revolutionary America.
And while DL may have a longer Pirates, ours is the focal point of an entire 'sub-land': Carribean Plaza. Which is very distinct from the tropical rest of Adventureland, in effect, a sub-land, and a great transition between AL and FL.

So we win! Erm..I mean...there's room for both lands. Let each park have its own land. Many people will eventually get to see both parks at some point.

NOS is absolutely beautiful. The architecture and meandering streets seem to capture the essence of NO quite well. Not to mention that the smells coming from the restaurants made it even more realistic. I had the pleasure of visiting DL for the very first time last summer and enjoyed this area of Disney Land the most.
