Where to take my girlfriend

I really recommend Jiko for something romantic, unique, and very special. It blew us away last year.
This.

I took my fiancée to Jiko's one night and it absolutely blew us away. Our waiter was an expert sommelier and the wine list they have is exquisite. The food was phenomenal and the setting is quite romantic. Just make sure you let them know that you're having a special night and ask to be seated away from any large groups.

I'm taking my fiancée to the California Grill for our anniversary during the Wishes fireworks. I hope its as nice as you guys hype it up to be!

Oh, one more thing: Everyone rants and raves about something at Boma called a "Zebra Dome"?? I heard, though, that you don't have to actually go to that restaurant to get one, that you can go to a counter service restaurant and get them there too. Does anyone have more details about this?
Zebra Domaholic here. :lookaroun

You can, indeed, purchase Zebra Domes outside of Boma. Animal Kingdom Lodge's quick-service (counter service) restaurant is called "The Mara." They have boma desserts in the refrigerator case. The Mara is a bit difficult to find... from the main AKL lobby, the elevators are on your right near the merchandise shop. Go down to the bottom floor. Walk past Boma and Jiko, and go outside. veer off to the left and Mara is hidden away near the pool.

Enjoy!

Glad you chimed in here seeing as how you're an expert on all things Zebra-domey. :D

shoot for 7:45-8:00 ADRs at Rose & Crown @ Epcot, & borderline beg for patio seating. Enjoy a leisurely meal & have a place to sit for relatively crowd-free views of the fireworks.

I don't think you can go wrong with Jiko, Flying Fish, Artist's Point, California Grill, or Narcoosee's.

That being said, I think Narcoosee's has the best atmosphere when romance is most important. The California Grill probably has the most "grand" atmosphere, with Jiko and the Flying Fish being more exotic, and Artist's Point the most serene.

All have stellar menus. ENJOY!

Wow, thank you so much to everyone for your input!! Gosh, now I'm torn because I was leaning toward something "exotic" like Jiko, but so many of you have recommended the California Grill, that I think I need to at least consider it. Any particular menu items that stand out? Maybe I'll consider trying to swing going to both places now. We actually arrive in town on Saturday late afternoon. My plan was to do the nice dinner that night and then go to Pleasure Island afterward. But we're going to Animal Kingdom on one of the days, so maybe we could do Jiko after the park. Hmmmm.... the wheels are turning now.

Anyway, thanks again and feel free to keep the recommendations coming!!

Check out your menu's here. This will give you a good idea if the menu meets with what you have in mind:

To me nice doesnt mean expensive..I love Ohana, CR, LeCellier, San Angle, heard Kona is nice too. I think she'll be happy just being with you..On my honeymoon next month we chose Ohana, CR and San Angel for atmosphere and food!

I agree with this poster.

We love Ohana and our recent trip we were seated at a nice table by the windows on the side, great waiter and assistant, and wouldn't have known there was another soul in the room if we didn't want to. They seated a table of 2 adults and 5 (yes FIVE) kids under about age 8 at a round table behind us, and the only reason I really noticed them is because they were so darn cute all dressed in their dinner best.

Romance is what you make of it, but then again, after 14 years, we can find romance in going camping and eating a can of spaghettios, lays potato chips and a 6 pack of beer (that was our 1st meal as a married couple camping on our honeymoon in Nowhereville, Utah as we didn't want to unpack our entire cooking stove and everything for one night before we went camping for the next week in Colorado). Our financial situation has changed quite a bit since then, but even this summer we made it a point to go camping and have that meal, although going to Disney is a regular thing and we normally eat much better than that, even camping :ROFLOL:

You can find romance in any situation, price shouldn't influence that.

Edited to add: Make sure to check out the menus at different places. If the two of you will not enjoy what is offered and are only going there on recommendations of others, then you are doing both of you a disservice by simply paying for being there.

The first time I took my wife to Disney, we started the vacation out at California Grill and she was amazed. I highly recommend it.

Definately a fan of Jiko! Its romantic and quite a different experience! I always make a visit there at least once during my trip.

Le Cellier in EPCOT (Canada) is also a good choice to try, but reservations are often booked WAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY in advance, but its quite tasty:slurp:
