where to take a four year old boy?

HI, new here, planning first trip with family . Wife made lunch reservation for her and our 7 year old daughter with cinderalla but didn't think our son would care. so where should i take him while they're doing that? doesn't have to be anything fancy, although i suppose i'll have to feed him at some point.

You can always do the Pirates League if he's into pirates.

I just asked my 22 yr old son (who has been going to Disney World every year since he was 3) what he would suggest.. He said "why not do a counter service (if not, maybe tony's town square or Liberty Tree Tavern for a TS meal) .... if you do a Counter Service, he can always explore Tom Sawyer Island" This way, everyone is happy Have a wonderful time!!!! :sohappy:

Pft when I was little and still to this day I LOVE eating with the princesses. Never passed up a chance to get photos with pretty ladies.

How about boarding a boat to Fort Wilderness and having a picnic? You can purchase fried chicken, pizza and more from Trails End To Go and then find yourself a nice table and enjoy some quiet quality time with your son out in the woods. BTW after your done you could go horse back riding, hike, or try any of the other activities offered at FWR before heading back to meet up with your wife and daughter.

The Pirate cruise is great fun for kids. I leaves from 3 different resorts(depending on the day). they get on a boat, look for treasure, and then have lunch on a deserted island. Pretty cool

Assuming you are just filling the time from when they check in to when they are finished, you're just looking at maximum of 2 hours of time. Couple options come to mind:

1 - grab a bite to eat at Pinnochio's (and watch the It's a Small World boats) or Columbia Harbour House (sit upstairs and he can check out some of the nautical themed stuff) then head to Tom Sawyer Island. It was 30 years ago, but I have a pretty good recollection of spending almost an entire day on that Island as a kid.

2 - head over to Adventureland and grab some food at Tortuga Tavern, then ride Pirates and maybe Jungle Cruise

3 - head to Tomorrowland and grab some food at Cosmic Ray's and then let him drive you around on the Speedway and/or zap some aliens on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin

Also kind of depends on what time of year you are going and the crowd levels. You could easily take the ladies' tickets and grab everyone Fastpasses for something, then do a ride or two, and grab some more FPs before they come out of lunch. Then you have plans all set for the rest of the afternoon.

I know with any kids we have taken (or met there) we have bought them their own copy of the Birnbaum's Guidebook and let them make some choices on what to do. Maybe your son will find something that nobody would have expected and that your daughter would rather not do?

My 4 year old enjoys visiting with the Pooh characters at the Crystal Palace, and the buffet is phenomenal!

I have a number of friends who have brought their sons along to CRT and they really enjoyed it.

If you don't go that route, but still want a table service character meal- Crystal Palace is great.

As a counter service option, if the weather is nice- we've enjoyed getting hot dogs at Casey's and sitting outside. It's great people watching and sometimes you get entertainment...anything from Jim playing piano to the band coming down MainStreet or even a parade.

I took my four year old grandson a few months ago. If we had rode the monorail or train for hours he would have been happy.
We also explored Tom Sawyers Island and he loved it.
He really won't care if he has a table service or counter service meal. Show him the options and let him pick what he wants to do.
Like someone else suggested, another option is taking a boat to Fort Wilderness and exploring. The boat ride itself can be fun. Or take him to the Contemporary and let him play in the gameroom.

What does he like to eat?

Not knowing that, off the top of my head I'd say grab a dog at Casey's and enjoy the time touring the parks with just him

I'd check out The Pirate's League!

If you don't think he'd enjoy that, then probably exploring Tom Sawyer Island or maybe the Treehouse.

How about going on the little speed boats and zipping about the lake, my boys now 21, 18 and 17 always loved that,(still do) or a game of mini golf, whatever you do make it your special:wave: boy time

I would say either Crystal Palace or a counter service meal and the Pirate Makeover at Pirate's League. It is an awesome experience, my DS was 3 last October when we tried it and we all loved it so much that we have another booked for our trip next month!

My 7 year old is very anti-princess. However he does enjoy the dinner at the castle, because there's only Cinderella. If I gave him the option of lunch with all the princesses he would prob refuse tho. Why not just spend some quality time doing something he's likes? Maybe even just going back to resort for some pool time or take monorail to any resort and rent a boat. You could always just hit a few attractions he likes.

I agree the Crystal Palace is fun! Or just a quick meal and hit some rides. Having that one on one time is priceless! If you have time what about T- Rex in DTD?

I have to say though I think the boys have fun at the Castle too!

i agree with the pirate cruise. my kids have done it twice and both times it was the highlight of their trip. i can't say it enough- do the cruise. it's something special just for him, he gets a lunch there, and they have a ball. it sounds like you'll be in MK, just hop a monorail or boat over to grand floridian and send him off for a couple of hours- you even get some time alone to finish shopping or rest.
