Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

@PUSH , I had a chuckle while watching Bloomberg TV this afternoon, at the 4:00 closing bell on Wall Street. Every day they have a different company (or sometimes even celebrities) up in that "galley" area (not sure of the exact name of it), and often the name of the company will be displayed.

However, today, they only had a huge banner up there -- it said , Shark Week!! HA! :D I never expected to see that!
At least they didn't break out in a rendition of "Baby Shark"😁

I don't get why that became such a big thing. People think it's brand new, but that song has been around for a long time. I thought it was funny until the past year. As an elementary teacher, it's now just something I try to avoid at all cost.
Yes, 7 or 8 years ago I remember a teenager teaching that song to younger kids. It was new to me back then and at the time I thought it was funny.

@JenniferS , I noticed on a wall calendar the there is a "civic holiday, Canada" in early August? What do you celebrate that day -- do you get the day off with pay?

On another matter, I bought a bag of Ghiradelli chocolate chips. They're delicious. I've been eating them out of the bag, so I won't have enough if I want to make cookies. So I figure I'll finish this bag in the next day or two, and then buy another bag to make cookies. There's a solution for everything.

It’s a different day, depending on the province, and is merely a civic holiday, not a full fledged stat. In Ontario, it’s called Simcoe Day, after Major General John Graves Simcoe - the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada.

As a civic holiday only, employers are not required to give you a paid day off. As an independent contractor, 100% commissioned employee, I’m not entitled to a single paid day off. I only get paid if I sell. Right now, I’m not selling too much.

I prefer butterscotch chips or Skor chips.

Canada has a holiday for the Honda Civic?

I’ve always felt that this was a wonderful, smallish (but not too small), city in which to live. A “leave your door unlocked, know your neighbours, walk the streets comfortably after dark” kind of place.

And then the drug dealers moved in. Big time. Big time drug dealers. Big time drug problems. Big time people dying; my brother and many of his friends among them.

Today, three young men, all aged 23, all schoolmates of Ski (but thankfully not friends) were arrested for possession of 784 grams (that’s about 1 3/4 lbs to you) of Fentanyl, a quantity of opioid pills, a couple of guns, lots of ammo, a hydraulic press (to make pills), lots of cash, and two high end vehicles.

There was also a shooting today (presumably unrelated) by police - the first time a Brantford Police Services officer has discharged his weapon in almost 5 years. There was a tragic targeted fatal shooting of an elderly couple last week to make an example of what happens when your PoS kid takes off owing money to drug dealers.

Remember how I used to boast that Brantford only ever had one murder every couple of years, and that it was almost always a domestic, seldom involving a gun? Yeah well, not anymore. There have been 23 gun “incidents” this year alone, which included 10 people being shot, four of them fatally.

The RCMP have moved into town. This is the second huge drug bust involving local men in the past two weeks.

How much damage can you do with 784 grams of Fentanyl? How many deadly pills can you make? How many more dead addicts and first time idiots have been spared? Ski says these three were trouble even in high school, but how sad. 23 years old and hopefully going away for a very long time.
Dead from an overdose is forever. These punks will each get less than 10 years. Betcha.

It is incredible the amount of violence and death caused by stuff like this.

Drugs...gangs...deaths.

And spread so quickly.

Further to my post - 2 mg of Fentanyl is considered lethal. These guys had 784 grams. For those of you not schooled in the metric system, I’ll do the math for you.

1 gram = 1000 mg
784 grams = 392,000 lethal (2 mg) doses.

That’s enough to kill every single person in my city four times over.

They're destroying lives. They're destroying good, decent communities. Sad for you and your neighbors.

Finally got around to booking our return flights.

Used up the last of our banked JetBlue credit from last year’s delay. Two people, return, 1 checked bag each, came to $235.94 USD. This is me, not complaining. 🙂

Also got a hotel for our arrival night. No cookies this time. I’m having full hip replacement sometime late fall/early winter ... need to watch my weight.
