I pull muscles all the time. Ice and advil initially then heat. Can never say how it takes to recover. Depends if it’s a regular pull or if it’s torn. Personally I don’t go to the doctor right away because I know my body at this point and know what just needs rest. If you’re unsure definitely go.
I did go to the doctor on Friday. Unfortunately I had my annual Physical/Wellness scheduled so he tried to juggle both. I reported that I pulled my right chest muscle....and the whatever the muscle its called that leads under your underarm and I have pain in the shoulder blade. He told me after asking some questions and tenderly pushing and poking that I pulled it. Try not to use the right arm for a few days even though I'm righty and put ice for 20 minutes multiple times a day. That was it...then we moved on to the Physical and the EKG.

Yep, that is the one thing about muscles. They repair themselves but only if you let them rest for a little while. That's if it's just muscle. If it is a tendon or joint problems it takes a lot longer and it easily re-injured even after it seems to have healed up. Anyone that has had shoulder problem will vouch for that. They can disappear for a long time and then with just one wrong move, it is back. The lesson to be learned is if you know what you did to cause the muscle pull, just don't do that again.
I am comforted to know I can talk to you about a shoulder injury. My right shoulder NOW seems to be more of the problem than the chest muscle leading into the underarm. No X-Ray was done. Should it have been? Would an X-Ray determine if it was a pulled muscle or a shoulder injury that would make me need the guidance of a physical therapist? @NYwdwfan and maybe @JenniferS ....anyone and everyone can kindly weigh in on this please.

Here is my theory. I did bowling for the first time in a decade. I bowled around July 10th. I wanted to impress my wife that I'm still youthful (I'm 57) and I really whipped that bowling ball hard again and again. I think this lay the groundwork for the right shoulder to become a bomb waiting to pop.
Then last Wed. I cut the grass for the entire property. Usually I do 1/2 the property one day and the 1/2 half another day. My lawn mower is long....a bit heavy...and not self propelled. Thursday the pain began and Fri. it was worse.

I wish I could answer that with a yes or no, but I can't. I have found over time that every pain is different. I know I recently pulled a bicep muscle making way to aggressive a golf swing, but, originally I felt it in my shoulder. That didn't surprise me because I have had a weakened shoulder for years now. However, over all those years the shoulder never bothered me when I was playing golf. It was on a weekend so I decided to just give it a couple of days before I was going to seek professional opinion. Over the weekend my shoulder stopped being painful and it settled in my bicep. It was enough damage that if I put my arm in the wrong place my bicep would actually spasm. Hurt like the devil. I made the decision to see if it worked itself out and although for a week or two that muscle would painfully spasm then slowly faded until there was no longer a problem except with what was the past problem with the shoulder. My SIL had a very bad shoulder "something" and he couldn't even raise his arm straight up. They didn't do surgery, but they did assign Physical Therapy in the form of exercises and he has pretty much regained full use of that joint. One of the most complex in the body, I might add. So it is hard to tell what is the cause because sometimes pain radiates away from the actual problem. It is more of a matter of time. If it continues to hurt see someone about it.

That was one of my usual wordy non-answers when the last sentence would have probably said it all.

Thank you friend. A follow up question for you or anyone. Would an X-Ray reveal the real problem or that's not something an X ray can do?

X-rays are useless for displaying muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Heck, sometimes they don’t even show actual fractures. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I think it’s early days. Ice it and rest it, and re-evaluate in a week or so.

If it’s really sore, fashion a sling to help immobilize the affected arm and shoulder.

Yesterday was a mind-numbingly boring study day.

Don’t know why, here’s the menu:
a) The Bulk Sales Act (repealed two years ago, so why do I have to study it?)
b) The Consumer Protection Act
c) The Competition Act
d) The Consumer Reporting Act
e) The Land Transfer Tax Act
f) The Income Tax Act
g) The Expropriations Act
h) Plus, I got half way through “Shared Ownership”, ie - The Condominium Act

Scintillating stuff, no?!? 🙄

One and a half chapters to go, and then I’ll have 10-11 days for review. I could probably write (and presumably pass) this Friday, but I have an appointment with the surgeon same day/same time as the exam; so I’ll write with Mike on the 9th. Different exams though.

I've seen your multiple posts the last couple of weeks on this topic, yet sadly I don't fully grasp your "end game". When you pass, and clearly you will, what will be your life changing benefit? A promotion and a higher income? I've never seen a realtor work so hard as you have. Good job Jennifer! (and btw I am feeling better...less pain)

In a word “leverage”.

I had a Realtor licence for decades but didn’t need it, as the Builder I worked for was “in house”, so I eventually let it go. After 29 years with the same company, I finally moved on to a different builder a couple of years ago. This builder also happens to be in-house, so no licence required.

These guys should be my forever home, but they don’t pay forever money. There are other opportunities opening in the spring that will require me to have a licence ... should I decide to move on.

I love my job. Not to brag, but I’m very good at it. But I don’t work for free. I need to get my hip replacement out of the way this winter, and then we’ll see what the spring brings.

I don't know... the shared ownership part might have been spicy if worded correctly. That along with and connected to The Competition Act. Don't even want to get into the Bulk Sales Act.

I just watched a Tim Tracker video where he was at DHS showing updates, and he was inside a store. The background music was film music, particularly one that was featured in the final montage of TGMR. It really made me miss that ride, and it really made me miss the "movie making" feel to DHS.

Since they are just piecing things wherever now, they should have just opened a fifth gate and named it "Disney's Hodgepodge Adventure". It's so sad that themes are becoming less and less important to the parks.
