Long drive yesterday with lots of traffic issues, but we're finally back home for a couple of weeks. Big family party here next weekend, so I have a lot to do before then.

Hiring housekeeper to straighten up the place for party goers - check.
Hiring caterer to cook and set up food for party goers - check.

There. I just took care of all this for you. (Expect a call this morning from each vendor, for your credit card number. That's the only detail I could not do for you.)

Now, go out to your yard, and bring an iced tea and a book. Relax on lawn chair.

Back home since Thursday but pretty busy the past couple of days. While we were in Tampa we stayed at a hotel on Treasure Island for a few nights. It’s absolutely beautiful there. We also went to the Tampa Zoo in Lowery Park. It’s a really interactive zoo and a great place to visit especially with kids. Mine are a bit old for the children’s zoo but they enjoyed the log flume ride on the 90 degree day! Here are a few photos from the trip:

And 2 weeks from today is our first full day in Disney. Welcome to summer with middle/high school kids!!

Aaaaand the rental car is booked. Booked a Jetta this time; although the chances of it actually being a Jetta are pretty slim. Certainly higher than the chances of it being a Corvette though.

Nothing to do now but sit back and wish the rest of the summer away. Well, that and one, possibly two more exams this month.

Just got back from running errands and checking out the nest. I was afraid the eaglets would be gone before we got back from this latest adventure, but one is still there and an adult (Dad I think) was keeping an eye on it.

It’s a long weekend for us, but it’s going to be a very long weekend for me specifically.
Ski and a couple of friends are way up north for their annual fishing weekend. As usual, they booked a remote site, accessible only by canoe.

At least he had the foresight to purchase bear spray this time. Oh, and a canoe (because only one was available to rent and they needed two), so they could probably smack a bear with a 16’ canoe too, right?

I told him he’d better find a climbable tree if necessary to find a cell signal to check in at least once/day, or Mommy will be psycho-calling him every 20 minutes.

He texted that they’ve made it to their camp site safely, so he’s off the hook until tomorrow morning; at which point I need text proof that the bears didn’t eat them overnight.

Don't worry about it... he's not even a full meal. Besides being incredibly skinny he is also missing part of a finger. No bear will waste time on an incomplete dining experience.

Rule for wilderness safety. It isn't necessary to be able to outrun a bear, all one has to do is be able to run faster then whomever is with you.

Not gonna lie, I was done after the shake and two or three bites. Mike is still working on the fries ... after eating peanuts, a hot dog, his bacon burger and 2/3 of my cheeseburger. And three large Coke Zero. (Yeah, ‘cause that’s where all the calories are.)

I just finished the series finale of OITNB.

I will miss that show. I am disappointed in a couple of the characters' endings, but I am very happy with some of the other things they did in that episode.
