I keep telling y'all - nobody says "aboot". It's a stereotype, like we say we're sorry all the time, or that our money smells like maple syrup.

Okay, those other things might be true, but honestly nobody says "aboot". What you are likely to hear, depending upon where in the country you are visiting is "aboat".

Not from me, of course, I don't have an accent.

Let me tell you something, young lady, I have socks older than you. You are in the prime of life and all you have to do is recognize it and enjoy the hell out of it. Except for your occasional habit of injuring yourself every once in a while you are healthy and vibrant and now is the time to know that and enjoy these years.

BTW, that comment about the socks being older than you... if it makes any difference they are in my drawer but I haven't worn any of them since I retired so I guess it really isn't important.
