I appreciate all the people on this thread who wished me a Happy Birthday.
So far neither my brother in Ohio or my daughter in Virginia...neither has wished me a Happy B-Day...but the night is young....hope springs eternal.
My daughter came through. My brother...well he could be working. My Olive Garden dinner was delicious. The photos are on @trr1 's food thread.

I've heard that point of view....yet I'm still teaching and have no need for additional money at the moment.
I'd rather just wait until I retire June 2025 or June 2026 and then get the higher monthly amount for life based on delaying.
Different approaches...but that is the philosophy that I'm comfortable with.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
I come from a family of teachers and its a nice package when retiring - social security and pension. A family friend in his early 70s retired a few years ago with a teachers pension , social security and exercises early AM. He was bored a few years into his retirement so he became a substitute teacher at the local high school. He gets to work 4-5 days a week and still exercises early morning. . He said the good part about his job is he doesn't have to make lesson plans. He advised thanks to his state that allows teachers collecting pensions can still collect while going back to work and teach and earning that salary too. Pension, teacher salary , social security is a very nice paycheck.

I've read by year 2034 SS will run out of reserve $$ and will only pay out only 77% of the 100% on what is due to each applicant post 2034. Thankfully I'm not part of that group. I'm with the mindset if one is eligible to collect ( ie age 62 ) collect when eligible. Tomorrow , even life is not guaranteed.

The retirement generation is the only reason why the US is number 23 in the World's Happiest Countries. The US ranked 10 for people 60 or older. No shock there with all that cash coming in.

@JenniferS will be happy to know Canada came in at 14.

Unsurprisingly, Scandinavia got the top scores.

I like the USA for the delish diverse variety of food. Can't even think of one Scandinavia food off the top of my head but I'm sure they have some good ones. Retirement state for sure - Florida.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
While we wait for The Gilded Age to return, and hopefully a second season of Death and Other Details, I started Palm Royale tonight. The first three episodes dropped tonight, but I only watched the first.

I have no idea where this is going, but I do enjoy a period piece. (AppleTV for anyone looking it.)

Thanks for tip!! Is that Carol Burnett??
Can't wait for more Gilded Age!! Can't wait to see what happens with Ada being in charge LOL And as much as I didn't like Bertha (Carrie ) to begin with she has been growing on me lately. It took me halfway through Ghostbusters Afterlife to figure out she plays the Mom.
I've been sick last couple of days and binged The Good Wife while I was home.
Still need to finish Death was really enjoying that one.

Yes, that’s Carol Burnett. I can’t say any more.

Re - Palm, I couldn’t figure out who played Dinah. I knew the voice, but the face just wasn’t clicking. I had to Google the cast, and then get all the way to the bottom of her filmography. Viv from American Housewife.

Do not read the comments on Vulture or AV Club after episode 7 for Death. A few people figured out the whole Viktor Sams identity thing. It wasn’t really spoiled for me though, because I didn’t buy the theory.

Mandy Patinkin could read the phone book, and I’d tune in to watch. His son does reels with both parents. They’re hysterical.

Tell me Rahul Kohli (Sunil) is not an English-Indian version of John Krasinski! It struck me from his very first appearance. I’m like - Jim!
